wow thanks a lot.. guys, may i ask, 1. what do you usually use when you play cagayake girls, barre chords or power chords. the tutorial uses barre chords but i think i saw a tab using power chords. both sounds really good. and i'm more used to doing power chords anyway. so what do you think?? everyone nice tabs btw. i did a download spree. 2. is there really such a thing as a six string bass guitar? just curious.

Barre Chords are what is shown in the official score. But when I tried playing them, it of course had a major key sound to it...I'd actually use the power chords in this song, it sounds much more powerful.
And yes, there are six string bass guitars, which add an extra high and low string. Of course, this just adds more frets that a bass player has to go through (which isn't always ideal for standard players), so they usually stick with the 4 or 5 string. Of course, with extra strings, you also extend the range you can play, so if you are skilled, it's quite nice. Believe it or not, I've seen really insane guitars, the most I've seen is a 16 string bass: (http://www.altnation.com/forums/atta...tring-bass.jpg) playing that thing properly would be a damn feat.

All the usual suspects make 6 string basses. Ibanez, ESP, Schetcer, Warwick, Spector, even Fender and Music Man make 6 string basses in small numbers. Notably, Gibson and Rickenbacker don't, but Rickenbacker doesn't even make a 5 string. 5 string basses have gotten pretty common, but I don't know if 6 strings are ever going to be outside a niche market since that's starting to make notes outside the "usual" range of a bass. There's also a very few mass produced 7 string basses, which add an F string (even higher). You might see a few "8 string" basses, but these are usually a little different in that they place a smaller string next to the bass string that sounds the octave of the bass string, so it's functionally a 4 string bass.

Nice cover!
Can you estimate how long would it take for a beginner guitar player to play like that? I bought my first guitar the day after I watched Houkago Teatime's last school festival performance in ep20. I've always wanted to start learning an instrument but never had the determination to do that . Guitars are expensive... you know... And I don't have Mugi who can magically slash the price of a guitar by 80%... I've been practicing since then, and the first song I played is Pure Pure Heart. I simplified it so that I can play along at the normal pace (e.g. at 154 bpm I can only do the palm muting sections with all 8th notes, but not the sections with 16th notes...) It's really fun to be able to play along with songs that I love! Having listened to your performance, I'll probably to learning U&I soon =) BTW, among the K-On songs, which ones are the easiest to play? (for guitar) |

Lol, you already knew about palm muting. It took me more than a year before I knew such technique was existent. How long? Hmm...as long as you don't stray out, it will take you months (yes not years). Meaning, you'll avoid all bad habits out and adopt the correct way of playing. I've been playing guitar for years and I feel like I'm just starting this year since I strayed out and I have adopted bad habits while I'm still a newbie since no one was teaching me and I didn't read anything (or watched) about it. For every song, play it in a bearable speed until you get it. Once you get that down, that's the time you should gradually increase speed until it match the original. This way, you can avoid mistakes. I agree. Easiest is Don't Say Lazy and also its a fun song since you can add in your own riffs and solo easily (but let's leave that part for a while). U&I is fairly easy (easier if you simplify it). The track you want to learn is Yui's track (upper-left track in my cover video). Leave the other tracks (especially the vocal track) for a while since it'll be difficult for a beginner. If you can record your songs, let me hear it (or watch it), I'll help you as long as it's a song I know.

Actually I just heard the 5-nin version yesterday (and I don't like how they did the solo and outro). I used the track w/o Azusa for my cover though so I added my own solo and riffs.
I just wished Azusa's track is more active like Fuwa Fuwa Time and U&I. What's the difference in Cagayake Girls?

Especially since they added the second guitar to songs that were already complete, there's not a whole lot of room for more stuff, y'know? Cagayake girls, the second guitar is basically the same as the first, except with some melodic backgrounds in places, and the added solo So not that fascinating |
