Whats up with the ANBU?

Dont get me wrong, I really like the ANBU, but I looked on this website and I think they said they were between chuunins and jounins, but what is so special about them, arent people like kakashi and Kabuto much stronger than anbu? If so then why do they choose them for quite important missions????

it seems sorta dumb to me, but i think they are trained especially in the stealth arts (even though they don't seem like they can do anything spectacular). kabuto whipped like 5 of them when he was gonna assassinate sasuke. im not sure, but i sure like there masks. i wanna wear one sometime.

I say you should just think of them as the offical military force.

and you should already know that there's not that many people stronger that kakashi and kabuto.

Anbu isn't a rank, like Chuunin and Jounin. It's a specialist position. They're chosen from other ranks to fulfill assassination missions, bodyguarding, and what-all. They're the dirtier hands of the ninjas. Anbu literally means "darkness." So, they're the dark side of the ninja world.

But they aren't any more powerful because they're Anbu. We saw Kabuto kill, like... four of 'em. They're strength will always vary.

Even Kakashi and Itachi were Anbu captains, fairly young, too. I think Itachi was one at thirteen.

The ANBU is a special group formed by Chuunins/Jounins in charge of espionage over the other countries and the village's protection. Simple like that.

To put it even more simpler ( ) , the anbu do basically all the greese work for konoha, like gather information, guard people, assasinate people, ect. Ofcourse they need bit more skills to help them accomplish thier task, but that doesnt mean thier aren't ninjas (like kakashi/orochimaru/kabuto/ or naruto ) that can easily take them out becuase they are way above the anbu's level.

Sure ya' have. Five of 'em were laying dead in Sasuke's hospital room before a Genin.

Kabuto is at Kakashi's level. He intentionally failed each of his exams. Kabuto can't really be classified as a normal genin. Besides, there were only three Anbu there.

Exactly. He's a Genin who killed three Anbu with no trouble, then boasted that he could handle ten. He may be a Jounin level ninja, but he's ranked as a Genin. A Genin that's roughly as powerful and as skilled as Kakashi. A Genin who lost to Naruto. That puts Naruto himself above three Anbu, at least.

The point is, it doesn't matter what rank you are in the ninja world, it only matters how skilled you are. If Anbu are chosen from Chuunin and Jounin ranks, and could be beaten by Genin, that just proves how meaningless rank is.

rank is not meaninless, remeber most of these ninjas make a living being ninjas, so rank is important in getting some important jobs too. Your problem is you think rank is based on strength alone when it is not. it could be intelligence or medical expertise, intelligence gathering, seal removal and so on.

I think rank is meaning-less in some cases, like naruto. Because he never becomes a

Meaningless in combat.

Example (again): Kabuto is a Genin. Kakashi is a Jounin (former Anbu). They're equal. Kabuto is a Genin. The three Anbu he killed were, presumably, Chuunin or Jounin level. He beat them effortlessly.

Kabuto fought Tsunade and the damage on his nervous system enabled him to use only 80% of his body, then his wrist was cut and he lost a lot of blood, then he fought and beaten the lieunant of Tsunade then he fought Naruto and was hit by the Rasengan.
And the rasengan didn't kill him.

More than that, in the same time, Naruto was mortally wounded by Kabuto and had to be healed by Tsunade.

It's obvious that Kabuto is way stronger than Naruto... yet.

kabuto is a spy for oro.. that doesn't mean he is a geenin... .if a spy is dressed like a mechanic juss to get information.. it doesn't mean he is a mechanic... that is like saying kabuto is a geenin because he is "disquised " as a geenin to get information and so no1 really pays attention to him... with oro he is basically a jounin.. the sound village is oro's and kabuto is part of the sound village who is spying in konoha

But he did believe that he was still strong enough to shake off the Rasengan, and then doubled over after the fact. So, while Naruto isn't as powerful or as skilled as Kabuto, he's not too far away from it. If he could do that to Kabuto, and Kabuto claims he could take on more than three Anbu, then that puts Naruto in a place where he could handle one or two Anbu of Chuunin level

Kabuto lives in the village, and has for years, and has participated in the Chuunin Exams for years, and has failed for years, albeit on purpose.

Regardless, he's still a Genin rank ninja and can still hold his own against one of the most powerful Jounin in the Leaf.

Rank DOES mean something, it just isn't an absolute law.

99% of the time, a Jounin will be stronger than a Genin.
The Chuunin fall in between, with a few of them weaker than Genin and some more powerful than Jounin.

Why would a Chuunin be weaker than a Genin? As stated um...about 10,567,401¾ times on this board, becoming a Chuunin is NOT a matter of raw power. It takes into account strength, battle strategies, information gathering, judgement under pressure, and more factors.

To paraphrase Hikaru no Go: No matter how strong you are, everyone starts off as a Genin. Don't underestimate anyone just because their rank is below yours.

all this gennin, chunin and jounin stuff are just guidelines of the ninja who wanted to know where they stand in the world of ninja... but there are some who dun follow thsi and example one is uchiha itachi....

currently in the manga... i think that itachi is the most powerful ninja in the whole world... but why isnt he a kage, since kage is consider as the most powerful ninja in the village...itaqcji is come powerful that even our well look kakashi lose to him and has been hospitalise for a long while and need our 5th hokage to heal him
