He isn't exactly a vampire - there are subtle differences in the contamination process and Tsukune will soon realize that certain things are wrong with him. For now (I mean, before we get to learn what he's turning into), he wasn't 'Turned', at least in the traditional sense - although he does display vampiric-like symptoms.

Vampire blood happens to have 'poisonous', corrupting effects, which worsen if they keeps donating it to a simple mortal. The side-effects are mild at first but increase in magnitude with time...until Tsukune will eventually reach a point of no return.

And after a quite critical battle where even Moka had trouble defeating her enemy, Tsukune ended up becoming a ghoul (a bloodthirsty, mindless evil spirit), with no notion of either friend or foe. That lasted until he finally received his own rosario.

And about the so-called 'sequel':

'Season 2' is NOT a sequel - let's get that straight as many people seem to be mistaken on this account.

The magazine where R+V was published (on a monthly basis), Monthly Jump Magazine, went out of business due to poor sale rates. Coincidentally (or not, since the authors might have been forewarned and planned in advance), the last MJ issue printed had Tsukune going back home, marking the end of his first school year at the Youkai Academy.

Then, after a one-shot in Shonen Jump to keep readers interested (the one-shot marks the end of v10, too), R+V switched to a brand new magazine meant to replace the defunct MJ, namely Jump Square SQ (SQ = Supreme Quality), which also publishes Shiki, Tista, Claymore, Dragonaut: the Resonance, Kure-nai, etc...

'Season 2' is only named thus because of the infortunate magazine switch. S2 simply picks up where S1 ended...and I doubt the manga volumes (the first ch. of S2 will be the start of v.11) will even retain the 'Season 2' label as the readers who only buy entire volumes rather than monthly chapters won't most likely not notice any change or hiatus. It's merely a minor promotional stint to draw people to JS SQ (the two first issues were a big commercial success, btw, since they had to be reprinted several times).

Meh, this series is starting to get annoying for me (It's was rather ok to me at first thanks to the fanservice and the cliche harem set-up). It's good that tsukune got some spine now but meh; he's too cheesy. And annoying as hell on how he treats Moka. Meh; whatever.

I quite enjoyed the series so far, just the first 3 volumes were a bit to repititive as pointed out.
I just wonder what relationship the vampire moka really has to Tsukune.

She acts all mighty and doesn't want him to touch her, thus also doesn't allow him to come to close to the other Moka. If that goes on those two will never have any serious relationship and we'll end up with harem stories again and againt (BORING).
I also wonder what'll happen to Tsukune, being a ghoul isn't easy.
Personaly I'd like to end him up with Rubi, but I highly doubt that'll ever happen

monster version of ichigo100%?, so in the end he will end up with the snow women or the witch...i guess the vamp is out of luck if the mangaka is heading that direction, if not we all know he will end up with moka....

If I were you I wouldn't even try to compare this to Ichigo 100%. So far the focus has not put much importance on which girl is the alpha female in the so-called harem and I expect it'll stay like that for a looong time. R+V lacks this facet of character relationship and hasn't indulged itself in some 'I dumped N°1 to date N°3 because N°2 was unavailable or hurt by my sentiments'. If anything, the girls around Tsukune are more prone to have a catfight for more quality time with mister wuss-turned-ghoul than go angst in a corner.

The only times where there was resentment between certain characters were

when Inner-Moka tried to kill Ghoul!Tsukune and Kurumu blamed normal!Moka for his health condition, as well as the time when Tsukune learnt that Moka gave him vampiric blood to vanquish the hybrids. Aside from that I don't recall reading any 'I-hate-you-because-you're-dating-Tsukune' episodes. If there were any that eluded my memory, then I believe they're too mild to be considered serious. Heck, even the catfights that concluded 'season 1' were simply an excuse for comic relief and slapstick comedy rather than an incentive to shed tears and go emo like Athrun Zala on a bad hair day.

From what I read in other forums (though the raw has yet to be scanned, cleaned and shared), we get to see one of Moka's three sisters...who is a bit too fond of her sis.

What a great turn of events. I'm starting to get pissed of at Tsukunes cheesiness. I'm glad he went evil-mode. Good thing for a change. Now R+V is not you're typical harem. Rather a Darker type of harem.

Just caught up to the manga, and whew, i think Tsukune had made a really bad choice in falling in love with Moka in the first place.

He reliquished humanity and his human life for that?Ive got a feeling that,he may not return to the human world eventually cause of this.

I mean he does have a harem, but he has never seriously looked at the other girls beyond friends. I think it is kinda obvious who he likes.


I took the main theme as a monster hunter type manga with a background theme of accepting those not like you. Embracing diversity.

The small romance part is just for some more plot.

That does not mean it can't be a harem anime. Although not universal, its obvious in lots of harem show who the male lead likes from very the start.

I took the main theme as a monster hunter type manga with a background theme of accepting those not like you. Embracing diversity.

I guess its one of those thing you can take from it what you want. I look at it as just the opposite. I see the manga as a romantic comedy, with the moster theme just a secondary, background element.

I thought romantic comedy with monster theme as background too, but lately that ain't really the case anymore. Its rather a little more darker lately I think but still very interesting so will just have to wait and see how it pans out.......but just like with everything else....always just waiting, waiting, waiting

md I wouldn't say light comedy anymore. Not with the ghoul think always present. This has taken a darker turn. But again, this is what I took from it. My oinion varies from others.
