Finally I can read the novel as I always wished since I first watched the OVA the year before last year.
There was a Kino OVA? I would like more info on that.

It's the Country of Tower - Freelance, or called episode 0 I think, a 12 minutes short episode. It was done in year 2002.

Oh, that. Yeah, that one was good, too. I just thought it came out only a couple months before the TV series started airing.

It came off a bit flashy for my tastes. But it's not nearly as over the top as the karaeoke effects everone is using these days :>
All in all, it was pretty well done. I liked it.

By the way, in case you weren't aware, that same prologue story was printed in the liner notes of ADV's release of Kino volume 1. It's obvious you did you did your own translation though.

I'll be looking forward to seeing more chapters. But as much as I love Kino, Yukikaze is still at the top of my novel translation want list

Ah @_@ I own the first dvd too and I didn't realize. Heh! Crazy :P I just read ADV's version, and I can see how HIGHLY edited it is. They also moved some things around (I guess so Americans could read it better?) but my version and ADV's are quite similar. Looks like they did as good job as I, Though, from what I understand, ADV doesn't have the rights to the novel so I will be continuing. Almost done with chapter 1 so stay tuned ^^

As for Yukikaze... are the novels any better? I haven't seen the animation, but I've only heard bad from it (with the exception of its CG).

Yukikaze's gotten a lot of flak because the story seems to be progressing rather slowly. Not a good thing for a series that's only 5 eps long. But it's looking like things are really going to be coming together in episode 4 (due out in about 2 months). So I've really got a feeling that this will be one of those series a lot of people will like only after it's all been released.
As for the novels, I really can't say. I know little about them. About all I know is that there's two novels, and they were first published in the mid-80's.

And yea, I doubt ADV has the rights to the whole Kino novel. At the very least, they haven't announced anything yet, so you're in the clear

I love Yukikaze... maybe some people dislike it because they expect an action anime, but find that there are too few action scenes (when there is action, it's wonderfully done) in it. Yukikaze is actually very moody and plot-oriented, it gives me a Blade Runner feel in terms of atmosphere and pace

Demn has been MIA for a few days, but if he doesn't show up tomorrow, I'll get someone to make up a torrent for it and I'll get it released~

Honestly, :) you think we can translate and release all of the Kino novels in 30 days? :D you'd be lucky getting 3 chapters in that timespan.
