Anyone else gotten into this? Couldn't find another thread so thought i'd start one up. Typical first chapter, readers get dunked in head first with little explanation but I enjoyed it. We've already had the set-up for what I can assume to be the antagonist of the series and a side character whose bat-shit crazy |

The thing about Ga-Rei is, the first 32ish chapters are good, then the next arc is complete shit and it goes downhill...
and I just might check this out. Seems like an interesting enough plot (to begin with) now as long as we don't get an anime or backstory or something that promotes yuri, I'll be good...

Not that I'm complaining. And he definitely likes introducing strong enemies right off the bat. |

Phew, marathoned the Chinese scans (currently up to chapter 14 + one side chapter) and loving (almost) every page of it.
The story is less cluttered this time compared to Ga-Rei, and unlike Ga-Rei the focus so far has not strayed away from the protagonist (which would be Reika in this case), which are welcome improvements. Artwork, thankfully, is also less haphazard as well, though imho Segawa's weakness in drawing characters with clear differences still shows here. Setting a teenage girl as the lead character seems to have avoided the excessive hot-bloodedness that usually accompanies shounen work, though this could be just an aspect of Segawa's style. And I do love the parodies XD.

I just read Volume 3 and it was pretty great. The Big Bad has revealed their plans and now our heroes will have to step it up a notch, training with Yoda, of all people. Nice parody there. I'm interested to see exactly what'll happen now.

Just picked this up, a few volumes in, and it seems pretty interesting.
Although I know that this manga has a lot of battles in it, I do like how the fighting and use of abilities is right now. I just hope it won't turn into a typical "power-up" of abilities like many typical shounens do. Oh, and that it doesn't have a loss in quality halfway through the series like Ga-Rei did.. |
