You underestimate how massively huge AKB is...

It'd be like saying, "Oh, Lady Gaga is making a movie, and Joss Whedon's writing it. I wonder if it'll be a sequel to Serenity?"

No, I know. I wasn't trying to be harsh, just stating what I think the reality of the situation is.

AKB48 is a huge marketing machine. Macross is quite small in comparison...and I don't think Big West is involved in the AKB anime, so that cuts out any chance of a Macross connection right there.

...and, honestly, I don't WANT a Macross connection. This ad STILL gives me nightmares...

I don't think Kawamori's next project after EVOL would have that link -- they'll be separated, I'm sure of that. I think it might cause some ugly issues with either franchise if he did (short of a crossover). What stays in AKB should remain there; the same applies with Macross.

I'll wrap this under spoiler tags since it's for another anime but,

Spoiler for Aquarion EVOL to Frontier, both similar first & second episodes! O__o;:

it's like how Aquarion EVOL's first (and second) episode had me doing a jump back to Frontier's first two episodes. Mikono being rescued by Amata; them both ending up in the cockpit together similar to how Alto and Ranka did. But then again, all of Kawamori's works seem to have similar tones like such.

By the way, when I watched the episode, my browser kept timing out so I had to wait. And while I did, I tried to figure out what would come next. I had already figured they'd end up in the cockpit together and I wasn't wrong. They did. And I had a flashback of Frontier because of the situation. The whole "how they got there" was different but they were still there in the very first episode during an enemy attack. I like to see my Alto and Ranka in a different setting with a different cast of characters, it's funny.

I say that if they have a connection somehow - whether it be similar scenes or actual representations - I wouldn't be shocked. I believe I've seen quite a few posters in the Macross world that were connected to Kawamori's other works. But regardless, I doubt we'll see them in the show or performing. I think it could likely be a poster. But I do say it is possible the themes will be similar.

Like I said above, EVOL has quite a connection to Frontier based on its first two episodes just because of the similar scenes.

The Macross 30 characters each propose an idea, and that idea gets rejected. First was Kosko0293 with her "idol hologram fashion show." REJECTED.

Now we get "Megane Kinoto" and his idea for a Valkyrie theme-park ride...also REJECTED.



Presumably each of the characters will suggest something, and they'll all be rejected...

There's always something inadequate about the plans - in this week's case, it was that it would probably be too expensive, what with life-size valkyries and the renting of pilot suits for photo-opportunities etc etc.

A pity, because I really would have made a trip to Japan for that

I'd hazard a guess that we might see something from each plan in the final project...and probably something that they won't reveal to us during this so-called 'planning stage'...

(1) ‘Miss Macross 30’ contest.
(2) A Macross musical
(3) Macross 30th Anniversary Exhibition – MACROSS: THE DESIGN (to be held from April 26th at Shibuya Parco)
(4) 30th Anniversary Macross Exhibition ~ Valkyrie de sasotte! (to be held from April 28)
UPDATE - This will be held in Ikebukuro and will apparently feature a 1:1 scale VF-25 Valkyrie in Gerwalk mode.
