Considering their physical assets it'd be a war of whose are the biggest.

One key difference with the vocaloids is Sonico have a defined background (college student, model, guitarist and vocalist of her own band), this may have make a difference as for why she gets her own animated series while Vocaloids did not.

Oh great, now I'm starting to hope for this too... Well, I hope this announcement can at least give some niconico musicians motivation to make some new songs soon. That would be nice.

Yeah, we live in a universe where rom the spaceknight exists. Thus I cannot make snap judgements that this is going to be a stupid marketing thing, that barely has any point and will be boring as shit. Though, it probably will be.

Be honest thought,i would hope that at least her band member would at least pop up to be on the main story,or else the anime would feel suck to me.
