Those are great drawings and character designs. I really hope we get to see these fellow soldiers of Ledo's at some point in the actual anime (even if it is just in a flashback). It would be a shame for these character designs to go to waste.

I hope someone can translate the novel into English. This would definitely answer a lot of questions we anime-only viewers have about Ledo's past and Alliance life.

Especially the flashback to that white-haired boy in ep 4.

There are no 19 year olds who bear the title of "great pirate".
Let alone one that is a woman, except for Rackage of the vast seas.
The gorgeous Rackage wearing her uniquely revealing outfit sits cross-legged in the bridge.
It has been a while since the pirate fleet brought in any spoils. Subordinates are running around the bridge in a flurry, the sound of cannon fire can be heard.
Although the number of ships in the targeted fleet outnumber them ten-fold, Rackage does not hesitate. She fans the two female servants by her side as she calmly waits for a report.
A voice is heard, a large man with a towel wrapped around his forehead lumbers into the room.
"Half of the ships in the enemy's guard fleet have been sunk!"
"Ohh, good work. I'll be expecting great things from you."
The laughing man's expression humbled, which Rackage noticed,
"If things are going well, what was it that you needed me for?"
"Well, the truth is, we seem to be running low on bullets... so we would like to break out the reserves."
Upon hearing this, Rackage snatched up her fan and hits the man on the side of his face.
"You shall not!"
"Don't talk nonsense!"
Rackage lifts the fan up from the nose of the downed man.
"Are you saying that it's ok to take from the supplies of others when your own runs out?"
"N, no... not at all!"
This time Rackage uses all her strength and uses the fan to strike the man's crotch, the man faints in agony.
"It can't be helped."
"I will show you that you can go hunting... even when you have no balls (bullets)"
The crowd goes "Ohhhh".
"R, Rackage is going surfing!"
"Hey! Take out my Yunboro!"
He second alias is "Surfing Lobster!"
She stand up and closes her fan.
The great pirate chuckles to herself as she heads towards the crimson machine awaiting in the hangar.

A little translator's note: "I will show you that you can go hunting... even when you have no balls (bullets)"
The man uses the word "tama" for bullets written in kanji. The word Rackage uses is also "tama" but written in katakana implying a double meaning, if you catch my drift

I guess she is 19, couldn't find it on the character page of the official website, but the Japanese Wikipedia page also lists her as being 19.

If Urobuchi had a shonen style attack, I think it would be information/perception control. I think that this is his most greatest aspect as a writter, from what I've seen from two shows he's done (Madoka Magica and Garantia). He disseminates details and facts but not a lot and not the whole picture. So we speculate and assume based on what he's given us and we argue based on our assumptions and we wait for the next episode with baited breath to prove/disprove our speculation. Pure genius.

I find it hard to consider this an Urobuchi series at all, since he's only writing the first and last episodes. Sure, the overall plot may be his, but it's the details that matter.

Stop spreading lies. He wrote these two episodes but he's also series compositor aka head writer.

Nothing I said is a lie. He's only writing two episodes. Truth. The overall plot is his. Truth. The overall plot being his is all it really means to be series composer. He isn't the director, he isn't storyboarding, nothing. He gave an overall purpose of the series, key points that had to be hit between his first and last episode, and then let the rest of the team have at it.

Which denotes that you're the one spreading lies, as a series composer is not a head writer. The series composer denotes a general purpose for each episode, or what needs to happen over the course of the series. In other words, exactly what I've been saying. So please, stop "spreading lies". Or better yet, google words yourself before you so adamantly claim that others are wrong and should do so.
