How did I miss so much this series.

I'm really happy that I can continue Deltora Quest, although it's been two years since it finished.

Last time where I left off was Jasmine qualifying for the final rounds at the Rithmere games.

Jasmine felt troubled around Joker. Her match left her restless, particularly that the man had this creepy knack to tease her. The possibility is
that Joker may know something about Jasmine, that she doesn't know about but is still early for elaborated guessings from my part.

The high tension came that after the ending match Mother Brightly tender so kindly our heroes, and this behavior was addressed over and over by both
Lief and Barda, however, Jasmine showed more prudence and judgement about having reservations to put her trust on that seemingly kind woman.

My hunches proved correct when I repeated myself and myself in my mind that the trio shouldn't have taken that woman's recommendation over using the
secret passageway; it was ruse and were lured right into a trap.

So, now I have to wait to know what happens next.

Here I am again and not tired to continue watching this good show, in spite that finished broadcast in Japan two years ago.

Spoiler for Episode 19:

From I left off last week, the Rithmere games is just ploy to lure good fighters to Mother Brightly's inn. The tournament's champion along with the finalists are drugged and loaded as luggages to the Shadow Guards who in turn pay Mother Brightly for her services.

What those two schmucks discussed with fear in their souls to which Lief eavesdropped while gagged inside that bag was that all kidnapped fighters are delivered to the Shadow Kingdom in order to be put in fights against beasts of unimaginable nature.

The good stroke of fortune for our heroes came with Joker and Dane to their rescue.

Joker's suspicious behavior at rigging up the games is revealed that he and Dane were just trying to save all participants, and he turns out to be the ringleader of a rebellion that resists the Shadow Lord.

However, I do agree with Lief and the others at not becoming allies with Joker and the rebellion. The thing is that right now our heroes are barely awakening the wrath of the Shadow Lord in his attempts to foil them from obtaining the rest of the gems.

Another issue of conflict is that Joker would have taken the possibility of using the trio's growing reputation as a symbol to boost the rebellion's morale and further his agenda.

Finally, I reached the twentieth episode.

To me it seemed to be very weird. I thought at first that the mantis-like monster was the guardian of the fourth jewel but turned out to be just one of the few but dangerous oddities that the dessert had to offer to Lief and company while trekking through the treacherous sands.

I believe that the mysterious force throughout the dessert may be the real guardian to the fourth stone. It did not stop from pestering and taking hold of Lief within the sandstorm. In addition, I strongly suspect that it coveted the belt so badly due that swallowed the gem and desired the other jewels.

Apologies for the triple-posting, but since nobody else won't step at this thread for having finished a couple of years ago, I just want to continue with my episode reviews.

Spoiler for Episode 21:

I perceived from a mile away that the Evil Will of the Desert casted Lief into an illusion world created from the youths' memories of his home and parents.
When the people dear to the hero appear out of nowhere and try to dissuade him at giving up or delivering an important quest item, surely it is a trap and deceit by some malevolent force, and Lief was played dirty by that "Evil".

Fortunately, Lief did not relinquish the belt and got help unexpectedly from the Granny.

In fact, how I missed those RPG-style elements where the protagonists gets hints and clues for later use when trapped in a tough spot or in a pinch.

Nevertheless, I felt frustrated and tense at times, because I thought at first that it will take them for another episode to get the Lapis stone, but gladly Lief retrieved the stone followed with Jasmine smoking the Evil Will's swarm of bees to dust.

The guardian of the desert itself was a pushover, in spite of its appearance and the illusions it played on Lief in contrast to other stone guardians that our heroes defeated previously.

So after three years since I started this show, finally, I managed to get through the first one-third of the total episodes.

For me it's going on a long, long, windy journey.

As if wasn't surprise the witch Theagan got revived by the Shadow Lord, explicitly hinted towards the end of the fifteenth episode.

For the comic relief Theagan's offspring masquearaded as a beautiful maiden whom enticed both Lief and Barda under disguise but not fooling effectively Jasmine.

The comic part is that when the other siblings attempt to get a bite off our heroes the other little creeps disguised as the maiden would snap at them and then transform back to their previous state and transforming back to the maiden form, albeit with body parts out of place much to Lief's dismay.

Spoiler for Episode 23:

I'm not very fond of the Deus-Ex-Machina used in stories of this kind, but it couldn't be helped.

The Lapis-Lazuli's power came in handy at the nick of time to pull out our heroes from Theagan's grasp and weakening the witch for both Lief and Kree's relatives to dealt her the killing blow for once and all. However, there are still six of Theagan's children roaming out there on the wild.

I heard from Anime News Network that they've already dubbed it. But since the books were originally released in Australia. They're gonna show it over here first then over in america

So, the twenty-fourth episode officially starts the quest to Horrible Mountain for the fifth jewel.

Nice see again those RPG elements embedded within this show. The warning latched to the fountain couldn't have come handy to both Leaf and Prin in the nick of time.

Both were cornered by the Shadow Guards defenseless, but their evilness doom them to transfigured into trees for eternity. Hence, the entire woods are comprised of bodies of foolish people who gave up to their twisted desires.

I pretty see it very convenient for Prin's kind to establish a haven around the fountain surroundings because the fountain's water acts as their line of defense against the evil ones.

The downside is that they won't be able to bear more children, if they can't return to the No-Old Woods at the base of the valley to get the fruits.

Besides, Leaf was as more troubled and worried about the prophetic dream regarding his home and parents. They were definitely caught, but Barda has a plan and Lief must practice at being patient and not deviate from his quest to gather all the seven jewels.

Spoiler for Episode 25:

Thankfully, Leaf and the others got help from some Gin to fly them to Horrible Mountain, acknowledging their kind and brave deeds after rescuing Prin.

Thing is as well that maybe the will of the Fountain helped Leaf by bringing him to his father, although in soul form. In the dream, he was able to meet with his Father and come face to face with Pharon, the look-alike but dead Prandine. This meeting was meant to give Leaf insight knowledge about his future enemy, as well as learning that his Father won't broke but remain hopeful that his son will eventually return with all the seven jewels, prompting Leaf to pump with more courage ever to continue his Quest.

With some convincing, the three Gin and our heroes we're allowed to fly to Horrible Mountain with Kulian's permission.

As they laid rest in a friendly forest, the Gin directed the trio to inside a cave where they dug up another memorial stone plate, but this one meant as a grave for someone who died as Joker. Henceforth, the current Joker that the trio met at Rithmere and revealed himself as the Resistance Leader must be a fake, as concluded by them.

He could be a Lord Shadow's spy, so it was wise thinking from Leaf's part not to have disclose anything about the Deltora quest to that man back on episode nineteen.

So, I finally reached the 26th episode and thus covered about 40% of the total episodes in this series.

The Lord Shadow's Death Force proved themselves to be a deadly squad to be reckoned by our three travelers; they got the ambush tactics, the swordmanship,
the numbers, and the stamina to wear Leaf and Balda's strength little by little in a flash amount of time.

In contrast to the Grey Guards whose strength rely on their numbers, the Death Force rely mostly in their hunting, tracking, and cunning skills; they took advantage of Pral's sudden interference to have it eliminate our heroes instead of themselves. Those guys are far clever than the average Grey Guards and were able to put up a fight against the Pral without losing any of their members.

The Praal itself is as insane and far bestial than any of the monsters (even including the previous bosses) that our heroes faced before. It was thanks to Prin's token of courage and cleverness that he found where the monster's weak spot lied on the eye inside its mouth and coated it repeatedly with the purple moss, in order to chase it away.

And it has been a standard over the course of this show, our four heroes have found another message; an interesting message that I think concerns with the nature of Leaf's Quest or someone before who also put on for the task.

Unfortunately, I have to stop with that cliffhanger because that's where the subs have stopped for the moment. So it's back again to the waiting room, until more episodes get released.

I've watched the first 5 episodes a couple years back, and I knew it was nothing amazing or even original, but i still wanted to watch it. Too bad the subs aren't out there, since I def don't want to watch this show and can only see it halfway =0\

Just curious, does Deltora Quest anime includes the two sequel novels to it? I've actually read them while bored and they weren't too bad but obviously aimed at a younger audience, didn't hurt I could finish a book really quick.

Hi, minna-san! It's been about fifteen months since I last show myself posting in this thread.

Let me say that this post alone is unique for the simple fact that I watched the twenty-eighth episode of Deltora Quest dubbed in my home language with all the content intact: no cuts, no editions, and no trimmings. As well as including the opening and ending videos intact.

I have to say that I watched ahead from episode 27, which that was next after the last one I reviewed over a year ago.

Our heroes pitted themselves for wit, courage, and determination to defeat the fifth boss of the Shadow lords which owns the gnome races and Dread mountain.
Gellick with its corrosive poison-spit which is the source of the gnomes' poison-laced arrows that use to give hunt to Prin's race.

The gnome acceded to hand control over their mountain to Gellick, because it promised them protection against wrath of the Shadow Lord. However, Gellick deceived them, because it was as well an emissary to the Shadow Lord ruling over the Gnomes with an iron fist.

Gellick just like the other previous bosses, except for Witch Theagan, is designed through CGI animation, which I must be honest its depth was very unconvincing, and its movements showed severed limitations.

However, Gellick's toad form reminded me a lot to the toad monster that the character Ophelia had to defeat in order to retrieve a key upon completion of her first trial in the film Pan's Labyrinth .

So, with Gellick's defeat that adds five stones to the belt and just two more to collect.

I think we can all agree that this is one anime that should be watched in English Dub seeing how we all read this as a kid. Its by an Australian author

what I fail to understand is why they depicted the Shadowlord as a giant smoke monster, he's just a magician albeit a normal sized ghostly/ shadowy one
