[MANGA] Bleach Chapter 401 Discussion

* Aizen talks about the will of the hougyoku and isn't merely to cut down the barrier between hollow & shinigami.

* The hougyoku has a will of its own and what it seeks to do is . Understand and then create what is inside people's hearts .

* So it made the vaizards true vaizards because that was Urahara's wish. It gave Inoue and Chad powers because they fretted over their own inabilities.

* Rukia was able to give Ichigo all of her shinigami power as it was her desire due to not being free of the pain she still felt over killing Kaien.

* Aizen says that now the hougyoku is a part of him he can realise that. Gin and Ichigo stop fighting and Ichigo is at Isshin's side again .

* While exclaiming how worthy the hougyoku is of its name Urahara attacks from behind. Aizen turns to see Urahara who has finally shown up .

* Aizen, Ichigo and Isshin turn to see him. Aizen: "so you came afterall Urahara Kisuke."

They're showing Rukia flashbacks? Of when the Hogyoku was inside her and when she first meet Ichigo?

you see that always made me wonder when Ichigo got his partial shinigami powers from Rukia(Hogyoku imbedded in her) did something else transfer to him. Did Ichigo get some of the Hogyoku's mysterious still unknown power. We know Ichigo is special because of his relation to Isshin but I think people are sleeping on that fact that when he first awakened his shinigami powers the Hogyoku was in Rukia. He got something from it he must have!

Rukia didn't get the hogyouku until she placed herself in Urahara's gigai IIRC. So as far as we know, Ichigo is still the only naturally created Vizard.

You might be right. Its been so long I can hardly remember, I have to research this again

But wait Aizen took it from her when they were in Soul Society. I don't think she was in her gigai at that point lol cause she wasn't in the Real World. Now i'm even more confused.

So Aizen gets blasted by Benihime, Urahara FTW

Urahara appearing is okay for a Golden Week cliffhanger, but the randomness of the Gin v. Ichigo fight seems a little silly...oh well, hopefully some answers, or at least new questions, will be raised with the Rukia flashback (and yes, Rukia had the hogyouku back in SS before she ever came to Earth or met Ichigo; hopefully Urahara will finally reveal just when he shoved the artifact into our anti-buxom beauty.)

i thought the hogyoku transferred from the gigai to her soul - the gigai's job was to rob her spirit energy.

either that or rukia went to SS with her gigai. whether it's possible or not. i mean, urahara's always in a gigai, presumably, even when fighting.

No you're mistaken sayde. You see I was right Thank you James and Wondermike for clarifying the confusion.

Urahara gave that special gigai to Rukia in order for her spiritual powers to be drained from her. In doing so, her spirit powers are diminished and it would be much harder or nearly impossible to locate her. He was trying to hide the hogyoku, she already had it in her before she got the gigai.

Hopefully these flashbacks and Urahara explain this in more detail.

if that is so, then how is Rukia meeting Ichigo part of Aizen's plan

Maybe her meeting Ichigo was part of Aizen's plan because he knew by that point the Hogyoku was inside her. He wanted to experiment or was curious in what would happen to Ichigo if he was exposed to the Hogyoku during a shinigami transfer powers ritual.

I'm not sure I trust the translation and interpretation in the link posted above. Urahara was banished to the real world 100 years ago. Rukia hasn't been a shinigami for 100 years yet. So when did Urahara find the opportunity to seal the hogyouku into Rukia's soul while he was residing in the world of the living?

All this time I was under the impression that the gigai Urahara gave Rukia served two purposes.
1.) To transplant the gigai into Rukia's soul
2.) To slowly seal away her spirit energy

And to be honest, I'll still have trouble believing that's not the case until Kubo steps in to confirm and/or clarify things.
