I really don't understand why NoSanninWa doesn't want artists to be as creative as possible... IMHO no matter at which one I look autumn is the last thing that comes to mind...

BTW Shini_GamI they don't really have to be autumn banners...

I really agree with NSW that there should be no animation (since a banner with animation just sounds too silly... )... but I'm a little confused to the reason...
I remember when I sometimes just let Azureus download a bunch of things and just go visit the forum to waste some time... since I don't really set any limits for Azureus... the forum takes forever to load probably like it would if I would be a 56k connection (or maybe worse)... well its slow enough to tell just what loads faster... and to be honest I don't see much of a difference between animated avatars and nonanimated ones... and I'm sure most of the nonanimated ones are way bellow 50k

An animated gif the size of a banner would be way above 50K. I think. Anyhow, they would just be distracting, and we might mistake them for advertisements!

As for the difference between gif and nonanimated banners, yea... its most likely over 50kb+ in size

Not if you make it simple enough... like just a character blinking... or use simple elements... like some animation for the "AnimeSuki Forums" text for example...

But really... I think NoSanninWa should have just said : NO GIFs
Since chousing to save it as gif is such a bad idea... because gifs can only have 256 colors (so much for quality)... and the only good thing about them when it comes to stills might be the fact they accept transparency... but even that is useless since you can easily just save it as .png or just use the template that NSW provided as a background and save it as .jpeg...
