Real Japanese Music! :)

Okay, aside from the traditional Western-inspired J-Pop, who here listens to authentic Japanese music? You know, like old folk music with a Shaukachi flute, an Ocarina, a Koto, a Shamisen, and my personal favorite, an Erhu (no kana for it, because it is a Chinese instrument).

Thanks!

Do you count this band "MUSASHI" who mix Japanese instruments with rock? (They did the first 3 soundtracks to Naruto but every site I find mis-credits it..). I'm sure people have to have heard of a member of the band who does alot of work now, "Takanashi Yasuharu".
Heres some samples of their work I know of.

I've got a fair collection of classical Japanese music including folk music, festival music, koto, and even a record of Shinto songs and chants. Interest in popular j-music really only began for me about five years ago - mostly because so much of it is what I'd characterize as sugary torch-pop for squares "pseudo-hip" (Check my age yes, I'm saying that). Discovering alternatives to mainstream banality like j-rock, j-ska, j-metal, j-coffeehouse jazz and other edgier music was fun.

But yeah, I'm known to crank up the backyard speakers with the classical stuff.
