But if you still want a nvidia card, then just spend the extra for a 7900GT. It's more worth it. When you overclock a 7900GT you can surpass a 7800GTX

Also what are the specs for the rest of your computer? There could be a chance that the other components in your computer are not fast enough to handle such a high card as a 78/7900.

mmm...doesnt sound bad...but i'm not sure if it will fit in my computer here's my specs:

XPS400

Dual core 2.8ghz pentium ( i chose that cuz i was gonna mainly do processing vs. gaming)
1gb of pc 5300
74.5 gb ATA
x300 se ATI radeon
and then there's the others...dvd...cd...ect ect.....

looking at the benchmark here for oblivion (althouigh i dont play that game)
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2746&p=5

Seems to really be similar.....

I heard that an INTEL mobo and INTEL CPU is more compatible with ATI instead of nvidia? anything to say about that??

one more thing..........

...So? Not like Intel wins in that dept. either. nVidia still has better drivers than ATI, IMO.

Sorta an off-topic yet on topic question~
With those high-end parts, the power supply would need to be around
what Watts? 450? higher? , is it indeed higher the better? or....

yea a 450 seems nice enough. I once ran a 6800 ultra on a 250 watt just fine. hehe

but becareful when picking a power supply. sometimes watts dont mean jack. you have to look at how many amps are on the rails (12v, 5v, 3.3v) for a high end graphic card a psu with at least 20 amps on the 12v rail is recommended by nvidia and ati. in addition to looking at the amps, you have to becareful with what brand of power supply you choose. brands that i recommend are antec, enermax, ocz, fortan, and a few other companies that i dont remember. choosing a band company can mean frequent crashes, doa's, burn outs, waste of money, and even explosions!
sure you may say that your generic psu is working fine but dont think about using high parts or doing some overclocking with it...
if you really want a reliable psu then dont go cheap.

hmm well it's really up to you to decide. i'm just here to expand your options.
but with that intel cpu, prepare to experience a major bottleneck!!! that cpu will not be able to bring out the 7900 to its full potential!!!
my own intel pentium 4 2.8ghz cpu is bottlenecking my 6800 badly...
about the intel/ati thing, thats false... very very false...

Any recent CPU will NOT bottleneck in 95% of games. Kollunz, I HIGHLY doubt it is the case for you.

Well Direct10 cards wont be coming out till vista finally shows its head.
x1800xt is pretty damn good for the price.

I paid something pretty similar 12 months ago for my x800XL.
In all the games I play it performs pretty well.

Btw you might want to invest in a Zalman VF900. It makes your card run alot quieter without taking up so much space in the Case. And it cuts down on temps. see Review.

http://modders-inc.com/reviews-story--22.html

Price is 48 bucks... However its worth in the reduction of sound production.
Just follow the on site instructions and you'll be fine.

Sorry to say, you are wrong. 1800XT wins often as the 7900GT (Can I say more often?).

Animedude just take a look at this Stat Article, and decide for yourself.
