When Ichika went nuts and got to America via ballistic principle (How else he can cross 5600+ kilometers in few minutes?), and Big damn heroes is big, his entrance is supposedly quite flashy. (that scene above is not enough I think)

That' s closer to the barrier they used to be more aerodynamic (as well as protecting the pilot during supersonic flight).

Yes, and also what other uses the field can have asides from just flight facility and protection.

No, No. I mean, like in Star trek, the protective field and inertia dampening is different device, but indeed working in tandem.

yes, and repeating what i had said above your post about other uses of the items in question.

A pulse from a modded system directed at an enemy to attempt to render their systems offline, but at the cost of the user bearing almost similar damage status perhaps?

I am thinking of various "illegal/illogical/impossible" uses of the IS systems for now.

Illegal weapon? Something that can directly torture the pilot is explicitly illegal, electric/chemical weapon for example. (though I kinda disagree when our pals propose it for Canon protagonist, I don't think the villains even bother about that).

The normal barrier did, absolute defense... not. That's why many pilot flinch, or even passed out when attacked with weapon powerful enough to pierce the normal barrier and strike the absolute defense. (Ichika being the most frequent victim but almost everyone has their moment)

Reworking on new story.....

I think I have a plot in my head.... just thinking about how to expand it.

Spoiler for Warning: It is vague because I just thought of it this morning and is still very unclear about it:

Currently OC is not important at the moment. Joan is included only to demonstrate that
it is possible to find another male pilot but the probability of that happening is 0.0000000001%. Since the possibility is not equal to zero, they did manage to find one but they give up find another one after Joan because it is too resource draining.....

Changing Joan's personality to somewhat similar to Hideoyoshi from Baka-test... He tried to act as manly as possible but events conspire against him....

As rule of funny, he has hour-glass figure and can sound like a girl (if he try... which he seldom does)

Being expy of that Hideoyoshi, he too came from a family of actors.

As extra irony, he played Joan d'Arc in a Theatrical play before. (Recursive Crossdressing

)

Somewhat a closet pervert.... because he tried to be as manly as possible and average man is a pervert.....

Besides, they're supposed to be able to tank debris moving at 11.2 km/s, a velocity that even railgun has problem to achieve, as well as other nasty stuff in space.

To be honest, I don't know. They have at least enough power to carry other I.S. without too much problem (like when Ichika carried Rin, and when he was carried by Houki)
