I only recently noticed that this was getting an anime adaptation, do I decided to read the manga. Best decision in weeks I am sooo in love the characters and a certain couple that has been mentioned more that once. And the designs look great. Sad, that it's only 10 episodes, I wonder how far they'll get with that... Anyway, really really looking forward to this!

Sadly, we're in an age where anime is increasingly risk-averse. That's why we've seen far more 1-cour shows than we did 5 or 10 years ago, and this is the next logical trend - shorter than 1-cour shows.

Well, that too - but when I think of a "cour" I think 12-13 episodes, apart from NoitaminA. I think we're seeing more 10-episode shows and that's what I mean by shorter than one cour, and wouldn't even shock me to see us get to the point where production committees stack two shows in one cour to minimize their risk even further. That's the direction the industry is headed.

I don't think the trend will get that bad for the reason that other intersecting trends are moving to head it off. The rise of ONAs and other web based anime means a complete repuation of the entire notion of cours, and the possible expansion of China and other asian markets means more places for anime to unload. The industry will collapse or bounce back before we see the death of the cour system.
Also, the character designs in this series look wonderful. I do really hope this isn't another boring shrine healing anime, because I do think traditional Japanese shintoism can be the basis of a great anime, it's just they so often make them so insipid. Got my fingers crossed on this one.

Uka sounds so refined and mature that it's gonna be hard to believe how she'll act later, especially around Touka

I'm guessing you meant Uka, but that's what I'm worried about too. I always imagined her with a .... erm... younger (?) I guess, voice. The voice sounds too mature for Uka, but that's just my opinion. Who knows, maybe after the show begins it'll be normal, but from what I've heard now it doesn't really work for me.
