Don't know... It would make sense to end the series with Saito and co. saving Tabitha after the battle against the elf, but we still have half the series to go... The worst possibility would be if J.C. Staff decides to animate vol.13-14 and rush through it in 2-3 episodes............

i think that it would be much more enjoyable as an anime if 1) they stuck to the novel storyline religiously 2) they were better at pacing |

Nemo, as I understood momogan will start translating only in the end of august/beginning of september. Is that correct? so the 5th ch will be left blank for now? |

a sweet chapter for them indeed. Yamaguchi Noboru really takes his time to "draw" complex and well-defined characters, all their actions and words fit into the personalities he designed for them, and then takes his time to explain the reasons and motives why his characters behave that way. the anime-creators should take his example. what a difference between the lightminded Saito and volatile Louise from anime and the ones from the novels.

When it comes to light novel-to-anime series, all I expect is a good summary, ala Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu. Any more, and the animation budget will probably explode.

Concerning novel -> anime adaptations
The narrative and inner dialogue that creates the depth of the plot and characters is an element that simply does not lend itself to animation. It takes a profound understanding of the characters (like Heath Ledger's Joker!) to communicate these intricacies without the explicit portrayals the written word can give.
Animation, however, isn't necessarily inferior. If done well (nice soundtrack, voice actors, etc. [I can dream!]), this medium offers the opportunity for expansion. I, for one, was particularly looking forward to the animation of the scene at the end of Volume 7 (I was stupid, I know). What a shame then, that instead of expanding on this fantastic series, instead of allowing us to spend time with characters we have come to know and like (except Henrietta for a lot of you :p), instead they chose to make the travesty that is the ZnT anime. |
