I tried to fix Rong with a reasonable history of why he is the way he is. For some reason it hurt me to write it.

Spoiler for Rong:

Personality:
Rong is a very hard person to get along with. He mostly keeps to himself and is always mentally calculating one form of hypothetical advanced problem or another. This makes people see him as standoffish which suits him just fine when he wants to avoid people. He is unnaturally calculative and always seems to see things in a way where pros, cons and possible developments are taken into account.

Unlike what most people think, Rong can and is friendly. It's just that he is only receptive to people that have gained his trust. Rong is actually a very amiable person once you get to know him. It's in his nature to crack jokes one after another when in a conversation with someone he is comfortable with, though his humor is mostly lost on people and amusing only to himself.

Rong is one of those people that just go wild when pushed to the brink. He is capable of anything and loses all morals when something important to him is at stake. What makes him more dangerous in this state is that what he holds in importance is different from what most people think making his actions highly unpredictable. He has no limits in ruthlessness, though not sadistic. He will hurt people, he will torture them, and he will even kill just to achieve his goal.

Skills:
Rong is an adept terrorist, skilled in all forms of combat, digital warfare, espionage and survival skills. He was forced to learn the trade when he took up the idea of destroying HusteBack from within. His skills are further improved as the leader seems to keep pushing missions on him without tire.

Due to Rong's habit of doing mental problems on an increasingly difficult and complex scale everytime he can to distract himself from external life, his mind has become able to handle complex amounts of data and the processes required to analyze it. In fact it developed to the point that he can do five digit exponents as easy as he would breathing.

Rong is the pilot of the AE(Astra Exodus) Swordbreaker. The SwordBreaker is the first ever Astra Exodus ever made making it the prototype. The Swordbreaker was nicknamed as such because it was meant to destroy IS units which are the 'sword' of the current world.

Personal History:
Yuan Wei is Rong's real name. The first child of a young couple. They were of Chinese descent but lived in the in Japan. They lived a peaceful everyday life, always instilling Rong with their own varying ideals. Rong's mother taught him how to be resourceful and how to take advantage of what could be taken advantage of while his father taught him the principles of honor and pride. In fact, Rong's current name comes from the Chinese character for honor. It was the most prominent thing left in his memories.

It was that one summer when the family had decided to take an overseas trip for a vacation. The IS had just been announced then and it was the family's great misfortune that it was also the day HustleBack decided to make themselves known to the world. The family was trapped along with numerous other hostages in an assault performed by the terrorist group on Dallas' airport. It was a massacre where both Rong's parents died protecting him. Rong was captured along with a number of other hostages by HustleBack and was taken to a base in Arizona.

While most hostages were executed in a failed ransom demand, the children had their deaths faked. This was because Algaris had planned to indoctrinate the children to add more manpower to HustleBack, Rong was one of these children. Through this indoctrination and training, Rong became aloof and distrustful. He did not associate with others and others seemed to get the message. All this however was because Rong was planning to destroy HustleBack and kill Algaris as revenge for his parents' death. He vowed to train under the same men who killed his parents just so he could kill them. He closes his heart and labels everyone an enemy.

The early years in HustleBack.were steeped in hardship for Rong. He and the children were generally tortured as training, fighting hand to hand against grown men who snapped their frail bodies easily and without any remorse; taught to shoot and were shot with the reminder that if they could not hit the enemy, then the enemy would hit them; forced them to fight for daily needs like food, water and living space by providing too little. Those that were too weak or without enough mental fortitude were killed mercilessly or forced to kill each other for survival. Even before the battlefield Rong had already witnessed the deaths of kids around his age and killed just as well, many from the same incident as he and even many times more from other terrorist acts caused by HustleBack.

Only a year or so has passed and Rong is thrust into his first mission. His mind is still haunted by what he'd went through but he is set on surviving. He and his squad of child soldiers are sent to raid a supply caravan. They succeed but with heavy casualties. The children initially have an upperhand against soldiers surprised to be fighting children, but they adapt and experience wins out. HustleBack rains bullets down upon the caravan guards, even as the child soldiers are caught in the crossfire. Rong is left to contemplate as he watched those that survived, “Is this really worth it?”

For weeks he mulls and cannot find an answer. In the mean time, hell continues for him in the form of training and more missions. He survives every time and struggles with himself whether his revenge or his morals should win out.

Another year passes and his search for an answer is found. One day, HustleBack brings in a group of kidnapped women to their base. The women are “used” even as they beg and scream. Rong cannot look away, cannot find the revulsion to look away as the women's eyes reflect the same horror that his fellow child soldiers went through two years before. He cannot look away lest he be questioned. When the night dies and so do the screams, all that's left is crying and pleading for death. Rong lay awake that night, his mind made up. “I'm already amongst monsters. There's no way back.”.

Sometime and Rong is no longer forced into compulsary “training” as he is now able to match most HustleBack members in the skills they carved into him. He finds himself with a lack of anything to do so he explores the caverns which make up the HustleBack base. He finds a cavern in particular he calls his own. A wall is prominent, flat and smooth. He remembers the time of his childhood, before he became HustleBack. He picks up a rock and carves the wall, “1+1=2”. a simple equation. He struggles to recall information from two years ago which hell has made to feel like a lifetime ago. All he recalls are bits and snippets of facts. No warmth, no feelings, he feels hollow inside. Rong continues to carve numbers, words in: English, Chinese, Japanese, things he was familiar with. He tires himself out and cries silently as he falls prey to fatigue.

Rong wakes up, words and number which aren't his carved onto the wall, his wall. They tell him something, teach him something. “Lessons.”, he remembers the word. He tries to think of who is suspect to this act, but decides he doesn't care. He cares nothing about anybody. He studies it and pushes the knowledge to his limit. For the next two years, the wall would serve as his teacher, always being carved into with questions and answers, usually with a new “lesson” when Rong returns from training or a mission.

On his fourth year in HustleBack, Rong joins a mission to assassinate a famous general who has decided to visit a nearby military base. The plan goes awry as Rong learns of the presence of an IS in the base. He decides to take data on it for personal interest and study. He tries to fulfill his mission but is foiled by the IS and its pilot. He fights with everything he has, in wits and weapons, and is faced with despair that he calls, “A true monster.”. All his efforts to destroy or even damage it are in vain. The best he can do is run away. He escapes the base, heavily wounded and in danger of dying. He is saved by intervention of HustleBack.

Rong recovers, he learns that the data he took on the IS was taken by HustleBack. The child curses and reflects on the events of the mission. He feels frustrated and wishes he had that kind of power. In time Algaris Milhoff, HustleBack's leader, informs his troops of HustleBack's secret project which started at the same time the child soldiers were trained, Astra Exodus. It is still incomplete, but with the design stating that there is no selectivity, it is surprising that almost all of the members cannot properly fly the Astra Exodus. Rong tries to pilot the machine, he realizes what is the problem with the machine and fixes it using the knowledge he'd been gaining from “the wall”. It is because of this that he is selected as the AE's pilot.

Rong meets Croixas, the AE's creator, and now spends most of his time working under the mad scientist to improve the AE. Rong realizes that the AE still has a long way till it can fight on par with an IS and does his best to help improve the machine. It is not long till he realizes that the improvements he is doing will also allow others to pilot the machine, so he sabotages the upgrades to remain as its sole user. This clues Croixas in to Rong's intentions. Rong cannot sleep one night and thinks back to the memory of meeting the IS. Croixas confronts him on his purpose with the IS. Rong threatens to kill Croixas should the elder male speak of it to anyone. Croixas reassures the boy that there is no intention whatsoever to tattle. Croixas states that his connection to the AE has been severed the moment Rong became the designated pilot, the scientist is still charged with development but the main responsibility now lies with the pilot. The two relatively start getting along with each other.

Six years past, Rong is in a standard test run for the AE. He encounters an IS flying along and strikes it down the moment it spots him. He is surprised at how easy it seemed, in one moment it was over. He thinks to himself that he'd finally gained “power, power that even defeated the monster.”, but at the back of his mind, he is asking himself “What is this power for?”. Rong recovers the IS and its pilot who is still alive.

HustleBack base is in chaos as it receives Rong and the IS pilot. She is quickly tied up and kept in a cell. Rong who still remembers the first time he'd seen women prisoners, steps in and says that the girl is his quarry and that the others best think twice about approaching her. At this time, Rong has already established himself within the organization. They question him and are irritated at him but they accept it nonetheless. Rong keeps her safe and pulls her to the AE project to keep an eye on her.

For three months she is part of the development project, he learns that her name is Fillia, an American IS pilot. He finds it odd that she opens up to him and Croixas where she answers that she sees no malice in them. Rong scoffs and walks away, but his mind is boggled by her words. Nights pass and more and more she confuses him. The picture he painted of himself as a monster is fading and he is slowly seeing the humanity that lay underneath. Rong contemplates killing Fillia.

One day Fillia asks Rong about himself. He finds this odd because it is one thing to not antagonize your captor, but to have a heart to heart? Rong tells her that he has no reason to say. Fillia then starts to speak about her past, her family, everything about herself. Rong is dumbfounded by her actions. She looks him in the eyes and says that one must always introduce themselves when meeting someone new, especially if that someone had already introduced themselves. The child soldier, now a teen, stands awkwardly. He feels compelled to answer but all he can say is that he no longer remembers. Any memory he dregs up is now either from his time in “hell”, on missions or his studies. He excuses himself. That night he realizes that he doesn't want to kill that girl, that the monster he'd always believed himself as had already started becoming human again long ago when he'd met with Croixas. Fillia only made him realize that. Rong gathers his wits and begins to set the plans to destroy HustleBack and get his friends to safety in motion.

The day of destruction comes. HustleBack is bathed in flames as the US army, called by Fillia with Croixas' and Rong's help, rain bombs on the cavern base. Rong makes sure that Fillia gets to her IS and confirms Croixas' escape before going off to confront Algaris. The battle takes awhile as Algaris has cyber implants derived from IS frame technology. Rong triumphs and makes his move to escape. His route is impeded by an IS from America. He is surprised that they would even risk sending a unit with the Alaska Treaty in play. He battles the unknown IS, they are fairly even but Rong knows that he is no longer in the best condition after fighting Algaris. The two combatants seek to strike a decisive blow but Fillia's voice interrupts them. “Rong! Sister! Stop!”. Rong serves at the last minute, so does the opponent IS. But the IS pilot, Fillia's sister, is skilled enough to lay a non-lethal attack that disables Rong even as she dodges. He is captured by the American government.

Confidential captive under the American government, Rong is treated very roughly. He is secretly tortured by his jailors. Many assassins come after him but he is able to repel them well enough. He learns why he is being targeted and why no official trial has been held for him yet. He is brought to a lab where they are testing the Americans are testing the Astra Exodus. They are amazed that such a machine could fight with an IS so well and wanted to know why they could not achieve similar results as they could right now. Rong stays silent. He is offered two choices: help the government develop the AE and be granted pardon or be sentenced to death like the terrorist he is. The words spark something in Rong and he can only choose death as he denies his humanity.

Rong sits in his cell awaiting judgement, not knowing how much time had passed or whether it was night or morning. He resolves himself to prepare for the justice he has eluded for so long. The door opens and he is surprised to see Fillia. She explodes into a tirade and demands to know what he is doing. Rong tells her that it is time for him to pay his dues. Fillia tells him that what he was doing wasn't right. The two argue with Rong reasoning that He had long thrown away his right to live when he decided on that path of revenge and that what kept him alive was already gone when he killed Algaris. He says that he should just die then because there was only karma left with everyone around him wanting him to die. Fillia cannot accept this and holds him up by the collar. She practically screams in his face that “she” doesn't want him to die, “she” wants him to live. Fillia tells him that if he has no reason for living then she'd give him one, “to be Fillia's servant and to make up for his wrongdoings.”. Rong says that it's impossible because everything he can do is only linked to killing. She takes his hand and tells him that he only thinks that way because that's all he'd ever used his skills for. Rong goes silent then asks if a man can become a monster. Fillia answers that her sister had once said that men become monsters too easily. Rong then asks if a monster can become a man. Fillia is silent then nods, “I want to believe so.”.

You can't write well if you're lacking sleep, I actually took a rest from it (even if I want to write, I can't).

@Rong it solves matter of reason why he was in I.S.A., now to the matter of depiction

1. Does The academy knew he's a terrorist?
2. If so, why he was placed in Ichika's bunk instead of, well, by himself?
3. If then, why Ichika trust him quickly? (He mustn't know Rong's identity)
4. How exactly he can interact so casually with Chifuyu? XD

The hand-gun: Average joe.
The machine-gun: Talks in rapid-fire, with words going all over the place.
The gatling-gun: A more extreme version of the machine-gun.
The shot-gun: Tends to direct words at a group of people, instead of just one.
The sniper: Conservative in rate, but words hit hard and sink in deep.
The rocket: Rarely talks, but when they do, they hit like a bomb-shell.
The flame-thrower: Words tend to affect themselves almost as much as others.
The tazer: Usually just says annoying and painful stuff.
The psuedo-gun (ex. paintball): Not much impact or things to say.

One day I might create an OC list filling these out.

1. Yes, the academy knows he's a terrorist, but no one knows the exact crimes he's done. All they know is the rumor that he was able to defeat an IS with the AE. Nobody even knows what the AE looks like.

2. I don't have an excuse for that one. Fillia requested Rong be treated normally, ISA did the normal thing and bunk a guy with a guy.

3. I don't think Ichika is the type to be in the know about news until it's too late or staring him in the face

4. That's my crappy writing at work right there. He's actually trying to measure her if she's as strong as the information he has suggested. During Rong's time in HustleBack, there were top targets in the world. Two of them are Tabane and Chifuyu so HustleBack did as much research as they could on them, the works. Chifuyu doesn't see Rong as much of a threat however she wanted to see what someone who piloted a non-IS unit and defeated an IS unit was like. She was also gauging him. The random funny stuff that happened between them was just for kicks from me.

Well I just kick-started Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity today, and been trying to get around the game in Jap (and end up looking like an idiot on the staff bus).

And I say we need a character like this.

I suggest giving that Sword Equalizer to the G2 Altolong MPIS which is based on the Gundam Nataku. I call it the Tianjian (Heaven's Blade).

I could use her character as well. We need a serious uptight Chinese 'Central Government' type character to control Ling. A first year student with astounding grades and meticulousness, she is given the assignment after Karon drafts Lingyi into Shooting St@r as a "Death Metal Idol". Like most of the 'greater St@rs', those outside the founding 13, she is in another class. Her voice actor is Chiwa Saitou, using her Homura range.

You may think that this ice queen is ultrafeminist, but to everyone's horror she's happily betrothed to someone back on the Mainland. Even more so, her emails are so full of emoticons and cute phrasings that even Rin who planned to sabotage her was left wondering if they broke into the wrong mailbox! As if that's not confusing enough, they learn that she's into Venetian gondolas.




As for Rin's new role in St@rs, yes, you are now imagining:

Rin: SATSUGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI!!

And then there's Maddy Candy, GENOM and LOVE, if you get my drift.


EDIT: Argh I just had crack that this Central Government girl's ISper ability is to completely process all the information found within a single relativisitic frame of reference, allowing her to "stop time" relative to herself, identify targets, and plan a flawless attack. This resembles Gin's ISper ability which allows her to calculate the best possible shot using all the variables in the space between her and her target.

@ Zero - How many students are in IS academy? From first to third years.

Grand total of 300, roughly 30 student per class, and there's five class per grade/year. You may notice that class 1-1 and 1-2 is odd (32 and 31 respectively). The classroom itself has capacity of 35, judging from screen-shot (5 people per row and seven per column)

The Arena/ Training grounds took about 50-60% of the whole island, as you notice, there are three arena (the Third is about 300m long and 120m wide, the second is larger and the first is the largest, the one used to train by the first year is the third arena, the smallest). There's also I.S. R&D facility, dorm, staff residence etc.
