I don't think restarting the anime would be as "shocking" as the article implies since it has already been greenlit in the past and everyone's been expecting it. Still, let the optimism reign.

Perhaps it is referring to another filler arc in the works when they're done with GMG.

Well, let's count to see how far this new anime will go without filler (this is by no means accurate, mind you; I'm not gonna account for manga breaks):

The anime and manga are currently 64 chapters apart. There are about 16 weeks until the first day of spring, which would bring it up to at least 80 chapters by the time the anime starts. The first anime typically adapted 2 chapters into every episode, meaning it moves twice as fast. If this anime does the same, it'll take at least 40 episodes to get to the part the manga was at by the earliest time the anime, at which point the manga should be about 21 chapters apart. That'd be good for about 10 more episodes before the anime starts to overtake the manga, bringing it to 50 episodes. But let's assume there will be one episode left episode, bringing it to a good 51 episodes, which sounds about right for an anime that goes on for longer than 26 episodes. At that point, the anime might end again.

In summation, let's hope Hiro doesn't let this arc go out of control if we want to see it get animated.

^Well I doubt the anime would go beyond the GMG arc. After all, at this point the current manga arc is hardly over; I assume we would still get a good 30-40 chapters more (?) before the manga goes into a new arc. So if the anime WILL restart this spring or anytime this year, chances are we WILL get a filler arc after they finish GMG. They couldn't go into another break in such a short time.

Yeah, but just imagine how far into the arc the manga may be by spring, and how much further the manga would be by the time the anime reaches the start of that arc. I imagine this going on for about 50-60 episodes, like it was originally planned to be (or so I've heard). Besides, the Gintama anime did the exact same thing: air about 200 episodes, stop to let the manga get ahead, then do another 50-60 before stopping again.

^I think I'll still prefer the anime to go into filler rather than go on break again.
The need for FT episodes is toooo strong. Haha

Hum... Not sure about the character designer change but let's see how it goes. Hopefully the quality increases as they say.

If I read right, the studios in charge of animating the OVAs will now animate the main series, cool .

Instead of A-1 and Satelight, it'll now be A-1 and Bridge. The OVAs do not seem to be on Bridge's list of works:

So either you're mistaken, or ANN needs updating.

Also, Aya Hirano is coming back. And everyone said she wouldn't. So... take that.

Will it have a new title like Naruto Shippuden, or will it still be "Fairy Tail"?

hmm "i see saint seiya omega on that list" this make me a few worried since omega art sometimes is very poor and and lazy, but i believe who their can't make worst than what was in previous FT and since we get some "images" of the new anime, then at last looks promising.
