Pre-modern setting

Anyone got suggestions for unlicensed anime in a pre-modern setting (e.g. medieval Japan or Europe.) Cute girls and a decent plot are a plus but not necessary. Examples of what I've seen or at least hear of:

Mien Liebe
Gankutsuou
Kannaduki no Miko

Naruto is Quasi-modern.

They are primitive in some areas, yet advanced in others... Namely Weapons and Technology respectively.

Most of these you won't be able to find anymore on animesuki because they're licenced, but if you want to erm.. buy... them, here they are:

Scrapped Princess (Mostly pre-modern till later, but very good fantasy anime)
Record of Lodoss War OVA (Nice series, but old)
Fullmetal Alchemist (Not really pre-modern, but a must-watch for magic ideas)
Ragnarok the Animation (Erm, well, it's okay... but not a must-watch, but it technically -is- pre-modern)
Visions of Escaflowne (Really, REALLY good pre-modernish anime, with a touch of mecha, it's still awesomely done, another oldie)

Thats about all I can think of right now... enjoy!

Weapons adn Technology respectively.

Meaning, as I listed before.

IE.

Primitive <-> Weapons, Advanced <-> Technology such as medical [ They are able to take the DNA and impliment a desired bloodline in another ] and Power, Thee are power and telephone lines and poles everywhere.

There was a VCR and a TV in one of the eps, if I remember correctly.

that was not an episode that was an introduction to the naruto special when they were going back over the series

it was nothing to do with series at all it was them lookin back at previous battles and describing the characters.

TVs and VCRs have appeared in several episodes, you most likely just didn't notice them. One of the most obvious scenes with them were during the exam section when a ninja pops a VHS tape into a VCR and preceeds to show the 3rd recorded footage of Gaara arriving at a checkpoint (or something like that). Of course if that doesn't do it, there's always the score boards, pocket and stop watches, telephone poles, telephones, cash registers and much, much more.

he wants to know if series is premodern, do you honostly think that naruto has so much tech in it that it wouldnt be considered premodern.

its not even a part of the series, for some reason the creator stuck one or two things in and thats it. its premodern and the tech part of it is in it for less than 10 secs at a time and has only had it in 3-4 eps at the most.

catatorising naruto as modern is definatly wrong.
