In the first one, we learn that Utsumi's coworker used to be fat (like really) and had/has a lot of troubles expressing herself, resulting in a lot of misunderstandings and stress for herself. For instance, we see all the previous scenes where she "ignored" Utsumi and it happens that she always answered him, just talking to herself unconsciously. She basically exploded at the end of last chapter.
We also learn that she's in fact in the same high same school and is Utsumi's junior.

Second part is about Kurokawa and the guy who confessed to her. He's a first year too and Kurokawa explains that she didn't refuse immediately because she feels it'd be rude to him. Basically, she's considering dating again and feel that nothing good will happen if she simply reject anyone she doesn't know. And thus... She tells Utsumi she decided to go on a date with the guy !
Shocked by the news, Utsumi stumbles on Eri in the school, who wants him to give back something to Kurokawa. He asks her about the first year guy, Nezashi, and it happens that she's in the same class as her . She begins telling Utsumi about the guy's reputation in Junior High and how he supposedly hanged out with bad seniors, sent people to the hospital, went to bosozoku meetings and whatnot...
Utsumi runs off, deciding to stalk their date, before hearing the end of the story and how it actually was nothing but rumors

Unless this is another test by Yuki, I predict more pain coming Utsumi's way as he rushes off without hearing from Eri that they're "rumors". If this ends poorly, I'm probably going to end up dropping the manga. It's gotten to the point that I don't really care what happens anymore because it all ends up badly anyway, and frankly, I don't want to read 100+ chapters of Utsumi being dumped on before something good happens. I can go watch cats get run over cars and get the same feeling. :\ The mangaka is doing a poor job balancing the story. There have to be some breaks instead of this constant dramatic situation to dramatic situation pace that it's going at, especially considering ALL the drama leads to something bad happening to Utsumi.

It starts with Risa still apologizing to Utsu, who is all confused and does not know how to handle the situation, while the co-worker comes in asking if Risa is staying and stumbles on them.

And goes : "Eh what? Why you are crying? Utsumi are you bullying her?!"

Utsu: "I-it's different!"

Then Utsu in some cafe brings drinks and says That it would be too emberassing to do that in their workplace so its better here.

Risa: "Sorry."

Utsu: "No it's ok, stop apologizing"

In page 3.

Risa: "It's also about the burn."

Utsu: "Aah, that"

Risa: "Also about the ashtray on the first day. I really wanted to apologize for a long time."

Risa: "But then I apnic out of the blue and it turns out like that... And I cannot find the words..."

Utsu: "Panic"

Risa: "Yeah, thats how it is."

Then Risa tells about the first day

Risa ties her apron too tightly.

Risa: 'Ah, it's too tight. But I need to go to work now.'

Risa: 'Lets work hard.'

And then looks down at her feet as she stepped on something "N?"

Idiot Utsu is there with ashtray.

Risa: 'Wah! I stepped on it!'

Risa: 'W-what to do?! I haven't noticed! How to act at such situation?! I'm such an idiot!'

Risa: 'If I say sorry I wonder if that would be enough?'

Then in Risa's vision Utsu looks utterly pissed.

Risa: 'I have to escape!'

Utsu: "Umm you."

Risa: 'S-sorry!!'

Back to the present in cafe.

Utsu: "But for what reason to keep silent about it?"

Risa face turned strained.

Risa: "During my junior school years... I was really fat."

Risa: "Moreover - because of that I had a very few friends..."

Risa: In the class whenever someone talked to me, I was always worrying about how do I look to such slim people, and my replies always came delayed."

For example. (another flashback)

Utsu workin at the kitchen says :"Mastering it all is pretty tough."

Risa: 'Eh? Is he talking to me?'

Utsu: "More omlets?"

Utsu to Risa: "8 cheesburgers please."

Risa: 'Roger' (in her mind)

Utsu: "Hey, are you listening to me?"

Back to present.

Risa: "Thus I was misunderstood many times."

Risa: "Though i worked hard on diets and dress up... The distance between me and others remained because of that."

Utsu: "Onuma-san (Risa's surname) maybe you were overiamgining yourself as being fat?"

Risa: "I have a print of that time"

takes a photo and gives it to him.

Utsu: 'Ahh... Well she sid change a lot.'

Utsu: "You worked hard, didn't you."

Risa: "And continue to do so..."

Utsu: "Continuing? Then todays anemia was also because of that?"

Risa: "Sorry. Thats my nature since that time."

Risa: "Can I ask you... That neckties is two years old right?"

Risa: "Similary mine... is one years old. Thus no honorifics needed"

Utsu: 'Eh? My junior?!'

Risu: "In the magazine they write 'Wonderful ribbon lalala'

Utsu: 'Docile... Wha?'

Risu: "But... feels like does not tell the hard work needed for that."

Risa: "It may look like just a necktie. But it still needs care just to stay like that" (something like that, Risa's expression are seriously weird, sometimes bordering on being retarded infact I cannot guarentee about the whole necktie thing, I know they are talking about neckties but they just keeping me lost).

Utsu starts smiling.

Utsu: "Onuma-san worked hard and I think the results are coming off great."

Utsu: "Just speak with people more often, like you do with me now.

Utsu: "If you would look around yourself and be more frank, I think you will be able to find lots of friends."

Utsu makes that frend-zoned expression of his: "Just like this, we are one on one, and we are understanding each other rigt?"

Risa looks down and says: "Thank you a lot"

Utsu back at tennis thinks: 'That went surprisingly well. Guess talking face to face helps to understand each other better."

Utsu : "I think not knowing can be bad. And remembers how he complaining to that monkey friend of his about Risa.

Girl tells to switch

Then Yuki comes to Utsu and says "Its pretty hot today. I am already sweating a lot."

Utsu: 'Doki'? (don't ask)

Yuki: "By the way, how is your work?"

Utsu: "Aah, it was hard to get accustomed to but it is working out slowly."

Yuki: "Heh, after understanding how it work it gets easier, right?"

Utsu gets silent : 'Though what I really want to know, is about yesterdays confession. I should ask indirectly.'

Utsu gives that strained smile of his: "Yesterday, what for you were called out? Was it some kind of challenge to a duel?"

Utsu 'A duel?!'

Yuki: "Ah that was from the first class guy"

Yuki: "I was confessed to. And asked to go out."

Utsu: "H-heh. A-and?"

Yuki: "I asked for some time to think."

Utsu nerbiously scratching his neck: "He did not make Kurokawa-san nerious?"

Yuki: "It's not that."

Yuki: "I thought it would be rude to deny like this. For some reason I could not reject."

Utsu: "Eh?"

Yuki: "I am certain... He is Negishi-kun"

Yuki: "He was a shut-out in the class. He did not spoke much so he was aftenly unnoticed."

Yuki: "He was my former classmate and I could not be so merciless to him. It is easier to say 'No' when you do not know the guy"

Utsu: 'So thats the reason...'

Utsu: "But what about 'knowing the guy'? It would be hard being in different classes now?

Yuki: "Yeah. I was thinking about it too. Thats why I invited him for one...

And smiled looking at Utsu: "Date."

Shocked as hell Utsu: 'Date?!!!'

Eri: "You came already?"

Eri: "Im; glad I need return it to Yuki."

Eri" "Umm? Why do you look so tired?

Utsu asked what was that and Eri answered she borrowed it from Yuki.

Utsu looked like he was almost about to cry looking at that Yuki's book.

Utsu: "Eri... Do you kno such Negishi fellow?"

Eri: "Negishi? He is in my class. Does he has anything to do with Yuki."

Utsu started denying it desperately.

Eri: "Well I dont know it in details... But tehre is a bad rumour about him. They say he hangs out with bad sempais. And taht his fight opponent was snet to a hospital. And the suspicious meetings."

Eri: "But those are probably just false rumours having nothing to do with him in personal."

But then Eri looks and sees Utsu already gone.

Eri: "Why are you asking me if you are not even hearing me out completely?!"

And then Eri goes off thinking about things between Utsu and Yuki.

Back to Ustu...

Utsu: 'So thats how it is. Does Kudokawa even know about that?! Maybe she does from Eri...'

Utsu: 'Still, going out with such fellow?! With a person like this it could be very bad. He could even bring along his gang members and it would be dangerous.'

Images in Utsu's head show evil Negishi and his gang members pulling Yuki around.

Utsu clenches a fist.

Utsu: 'Therefore I... I will follow them.'

Here are my thoughts.

Spoiler for Thoughts:

It looks to me that Utsu is for me stress. Since Yuki is starting to date the guy and he will follow them I guess the next chapter he will be all over again "Why it hurts in my chest" repeating it about 10 times when he will see Yuki and the guy laughing and having fun, maybe even holding hands or (unlikely) kissing before he will finally misunderstands something in the end and will try to punish the 'evil' Nagishi, but it will turn out that he is just a nice lonely guy and Utsu will make a fool out of himself (it always happen when the hero does not listen to the end of info and start assuming things - they always turn out to be wrong) and Yuki getting all angry on him.

But I do not like Yuki idea of not rejecting out of pity and even going to date later. I though she would hesitate more before going to an actual date considering her past. Yes he is a former classmate but she barely knows him and still goes on a date right away despite being one day after she was confessed to despite being so traumatic about guys less than a week ago?

It seems OOC for me. And it looks like Yuki is turning from calm, cool and witty heroine to shoujo-like simpleton to me.

Risa turns out a nice girl just with bunch of complexes and she sometimes strikes me as being on a retarded side a little because of her weird expressions. Maybe its because she was alone for so long it got into her brains?

Right now, the Risa conversation is the only thing that's made me smile in 10 chapters. Everything else has just been so damn depressing. And it looks like it's going to get much worse. Shou is off doing things with her BF, just waiting to get dumped, Yuki is acting completely out of character (getting over her life-changing trauma in just a week), Utsumi has gone from mature to moron in 3 chapters flat, and Eri is shouldn't even open her mouth most of the time because it just causes more problems.

it's one of the rare occasions that you wish for one or two happy go lucky filler chapters in a series just to catch a breath, i can't even remember when i last read such an angst-filled manga

How things are going now I can see this happening in the next few chapters...

Yuki starts dating that guy, Utsumi gets depressed, Eri tells him that there other girls out there.

He starts looking at Eri as a new love interest, she starts to date someone.

Utsumi starts to look at Risa as a new love interest, she starts to woman up and begins to date someone.

Then a new girl is introduce and then wash, rinse & repeat.....

This manga should change its name from 'GE - Good Ending' to "FZ - Friend-Zoned Forever!".

Specially when One-shot ended up him being in the friend-zone still as well.

Though GE is second best thing, considering how ironically Good Ending sounds in this manga's context.

- Utsumi is not embrassed about doing anything at their workplace, he's embrassed because he ends up buying food at his workplace;
- The neckties are not 1 yo, 2 yo or whatever : it shows which grade they're in. Ônuma noticed they were in the same school from Utsumi's uniform and guessed his grade from the necktie. Like I said earlier today, she wanted to point out to him that he's her senior (because he was using polite speech with her);
- What's this about Utsumi's making a "friend-zoned face"? He didn't showed any interest in the girl;
- "Doki" is the sound of a heartbeat. Basically, Utsumi skipped a beat when Kurokawa came to him talking about how she was sweaty and everything. And he's the first to be surprised about it;

[Note to self : I re-read the chapter quickly and don't get how I came to think Negishi was a first year, something must be wrong with me today ]

Yeah I understood that, what confused was that it sounded like she is talking about nakties as being old. Though I think everyone understood that it was talking about the first and second years and thus her suggestion to not use honorifics with her.

The friend-zoned is his friendly face that will leave him friend-zoned for the rest of his life if the things will continue to progress the way it has been progressing. Regardless if he likes the girl or not - this plain smiling face is one of the good friend that will remain as a good friend and keep this smile even as his love interest starts dating other guys.

Guess with such faces always remain - 'guy for whom I would trust to leave taking care of my babies, rather than the guy with whom I would like to make babies."

Well usually Doki is used as a sound, on the other hand it was him saying that which is very unusual.

Probably because Yuki (I think) mentions him being from teh first class but it does not mean him being the first year. Just the number of the class, but you mistook as the year.

for the same reason the fully scanlated chapter 17 is most interesting: Utsumi didn't hear Eri's explanation about Yuki's behavior to "lower her eyelids" whenever "she's agitated or scared" just after Yuki states she doesn't think of Utsumi as a "man" with her eyelids down, which of course is the only thing he hears, he just has that much luck again. Still it could mean Yuki is not sure about her feelings for Utsumi. However it could also mean she was agitated for she feels guilty for not having developed any romantic feelings for him but that's nothing we want to imagine right now, huh? Either way, while both are speculations, still there remains the fact about Yuki not feeling well when giving the answer about Utsumi.

You ever notice that some mangaka sometimes forget their own plot points or deliberately change plot points in mid stride ?

Especially when publishers press their buttons ?

2. The readers like this character.

3. The pie chart and pretty graphs shows the projections and statistical evaluation of the character.

Well I don't know about that, Zetsubo. Why?

Because this is not about editor liking then, but about disliking, because it is obvious that Yuki's popularity will decrease significantly following her recent actions.

So this either means that - Editors said that people like Risa more (but then there should be more Risa scenes) and mangaka should play more on her, or to make it a competition they need to decrease Yuki's popularity thus turn her from intelligent and calm girl with tragic past into a shallow shoujo-simpleton who dates guys because they are her former classmates.

If so, then they are doing a good job, but need more Risa scenes then, and since the upcoming 21 chapters should be about
