They rushed the Jeagers part quite a bit..
Anyways, the latest episode adapted more than I had thought. RIP Tatsumi's first kiss. Wave's Grand Chariot was awesome to see though. I always wanted to see it animated.

Yeah, Esdeath seemed to steal most of the budget for this one. Though really for the sake of the animator's lives that was probably the right choice .
I thought this was a good episode to get a feel for the Tatsumi and Esdeath dynamic. Somewhat entertaining that both were making their effort to change the mindset of the other but coming up short. Of course not a surprise, neither got where they were for lack of willpower. Just unfortunate that the consequences are so high for that difference in opinion. Certainly the advantage of Akame's sword is more paramount than ever here. Esdeath may be the most powerful being in existence but just one hit can end that. Problem being of course that Akame's sword is just too damn famous and getting that hit in won't be easy. Was a nice rescue scene for Tatsumi and could share his relief there. With the tension of where he's been the past few days(?) it must be a comfort to be back with his friends again. A relief for them as well since they've lost too many friends as of late. Losing Tatsumi as well would really hurt.

Tatsumi's willpower is legendary. I'd so give in to Esdeath. Screw my ideals, principles and convictions man. For Esdeath, I'd throw them right out the window. Tatsumi though, wow.
Anyway, great episode. I am really liking this anime. It's one of very few shows, where I pretty much like all of the characters 10 episodes in. I feel like at times their development has been a bit rushed, because of the pace, but otherwise they're really well done. And the story, too, man. It has this right mix of predictability and unpredictability, that's just perfect. You know what to expect, but you never quite know how exactly thing's are going to turn out. The animation and art style are great, too. This has been an excellent show so far. I'm definitely gonna catch up with the manga, once the anime is done.

After Steins;Gate, the animation for this series is definitely disappointing. I don't care how faithful people think the Manga is to the anime. There is more than just the script.
The execution isn't good. The animation and pacing makes a big difference. It's like they're using different tonality for the same words and hoping to get the same meaning across. Comedic timing, and the cheesy background effects fail to make a lot of people laugh. While I wouldn't call Akame Ga Kill the epitome of comedy, the scene where you're supposed to laugh (Bors are in particular) are quite endearing. This last point is more my opinion than anything, but the music also hasn't been setting the mood right. It hasn't come close the awesomeness that was episode 1 for awhile. That low quality guitar during Esdeath and Tatsumi moment was out of place. Esdeath's portrayal has a bit more brute to it in contrast with her elegance in the manga. Her seiyuu doesn't come across consistently likable to me. If I didn't love the Manga so much, I'd drop this anime due to all the cringing of the bad executions. Didn't mean to sound like a manga purist. Manga fan mode /off |

There are times when it is nice to just be an anime-only viewer of something . Aside from the dying that's been going on it's been a nice ride so far.
Anyways, somewhat impressive how far they took this Tatsumi and Wave similarity. All the way to very similar Teigu. Even the mistakes that Wave made here were the kinds of things that Tatsumi might have done before. He had to take a lot of hits and make mistakes to get where he is. Wave probably didn't have that much trouble back where he was working before. I wish that guy luck being in the middle of that team . Kind of surprised about the whole protoype relationship with these Teigu. I didn't think there'd be many examples of that. After all when you make a super powerful weapon like a Teigu I figured that'd be that and they'd move on to a different design.

I just realized something. Esdeath mentioned to her subordinates that if it is between the lives of her subordinates or Tatsumi, her subordinates should prioritize their lives. However, she did not state what she would do herself.
If she was to face Tatsumi, what will she do? My guess is she will try to beat him to submission and take him prisoner. However, if it gets to the point where he threatens her life, will she let him or go all out? I have a feeling she would rather die than kill him herself.

Chapter 18 page 9 panel 4: Spoiler note: this page was adapted in the recent episode. Panel 4 it looks like she is sticking out her tongue, panel 5 the lower part of the mark she made is gone. So it might be canon? Who knows.

You're right, there is some tongue there. It's a lot more subtle than the tongue wagging we saw in the Anime of course . Esdeath gets a 2014 chest upgrade (anime exclusive) among others.
Some people might be crazy about that lick, others could be grossed out by that scene though. |
