If he could be revived 12 times then he would revive the 12th time you killed him so 13 was not a mistake.

I think it's from Full metal panic second raid, one of the pretty chinese sisters (smaller one). Scene was when she was fighting with Mao, if I didn't forget.

Saber pressed all four regular attack buttons and just IK'd him with Caliburn cheese (qcf, qcf + HS).

Caliburn's powerful enough to just snuff him out, regardless of how many lives he had left.

How *many* lives were instantly snuffed depends on your interpretation of God Body. What I've read game-wise is that it gives 11 extra lives, meaning he must be defeated 12 times in total. Ilya then says in ep14 that "it was 5 times for one servant", so I think the commonly accepted interpretation will be that he has 6 extras + his last left, so Caliburn offs him 7 times.

(I guess the twelve labors of God Body redeem his first life then give him 12 extra is how it works?)

Saber+Shirou killed him 7 times
Rin killed him 1 time
Archer killed him 5 times

Add it up and you get 13 times

Right, so in the game, Berserker has 1 life + 11 respawns (right?), whereas in the anime it's 1 life + 12 respawns.

I really think they made a mistake and forgot about one of the deaths probably the one Rin did.

Well, yes, that's the point. Because they forgot and added an extra one somewhere, he has an extra respawn.

The way I see it, the anime gives two possibilities:

Either Ilya is saying Rin needs to kill Berserker 7 times in total, or she's saying Rin needs to kill him 7 times after that initial kill with the gems.

If it's the first, then Berserker has 1 life and 11 respawns. If it's the second, then Berserker has 1 life and 12 respawns.

Either way, Archer killed him 5 times, Rin killed him once, and Saber ended his remaining lives.

By the way, what's the guy's first name? Shirou or Emiya?

Shirou is his first name. His full name is Shirou Emiya, though most Japanese(actually most asians) have their first name in front.

But now I'm confused, first you write Shirou Emiya, then you appear to contrast it by saying "though most Japanese have their first name in front". This make it seem as if you put his first name in the back when you write "Shirou Emiya"

The translations put his name Emiya Shirou so people will know Shirou is his first name(due to western methods of arranging name) But if you're to call out Shirou formally in his full name you'll say Shirou Emiya.

Western way: First name in back.
Eastern way: First name in front.

I personally prefer the eastern way, since I'm eastern myself. Though sometimes it raises confusion. Unless I'm specifically explaining his name I'll go the western way and say Emiya Shirou.(in western forums only, of course)

So, to clear up:

Eastern way: Emiya Shirou - Family name then first name.
Western way: Shirou Emiya - First name then family name.

By the way, back to Saber using openly Excalibur (the sword itself , not the noble phantasm death cannon) - doing it doesn't really expose her identity, does it? For what all the other people know, it's just a sword. They can't recognize it so easily.

The same happened with Lancer - he uses Gae Bolg all the time (it's his only weapon, the crimson spear he wields all the time), but it won't reveal his identity unless he calls it by its true name to unleash the noble phantasm.

The sword itself is Caliburn apparently. Excalibur is the beam cannon.

They are actually two different swords. Caliburn was pulled from the sword, Excalibur was given by the lady of the lake (think of Caliburn as the insta-win sword).

And there IS a difference ... honestly, I had NEVER heard of Cu Challain before this show ... whereas EVERYONE knows about King Arthur (there's a difference in how famous they are ... so I guess that correlates to warriors being able to recognize a famous person's weaponry?)

I remember this show WAY back in the day being about King Arthur and the Knights of Justice and Arthur said

"I am King Arthur" and they responded
"And we are the Knights of Justice" and they had their corny little catchphrase before transforming into these cool armored peeps...of course, that's a kiddied down version of it, because in the real version, gwen's a slut and cheats with Lancelot...but then turns that thing on its ass because in this case, the king wasn't a he, but a SHE, so didn't Gwen notice when they had sex that her husband has no you know what and has breasts? Well, that'd certainly fit a plausible explanation, but what about the fact that Arthur dies because he committed incest with his sister who then gave birth to Mordred?

I think FSN waaaaaaaaaaaay deviates from the legend of king arthur by making Saber a she...(not like I'm complaining though, she's HAWT!)

Merlin could quite easily have made everyone else believe she's a he (remember everyone refers to her as a guy ... it's my theory this is Merlin's doing), so who's to say he can't 'help' in other areas?
