If you know you're going to die at some point, why hold back? To get to where she is, Sheryl must've had superhero level self-discipline, which most likely meant a stringent lifestyle absent of most pleasures. Given the events of last episode, getting drunk in the company of your trusted one isn't exactly something too worrisome.

When Sheryl lets go of her usual inhibitions, she is damn cute (see Episode 5). More, more more of this, please!

In February 2009, Kawamori will be onboard the ISS as a space tourist

I just got this horrible feeling that he´ll be all set to go out with her, then while she is waiting he is brought to Leon and Bilrer who present him with some news so unsettling that he stands her up, while fretting over said bad news. <dun, dun, dun, duuuuuuun>

What the hell? I´m supposed to be the optimist! I guess it´s all the people on different boards going "Oh, but Kawamori is going to troll us again!".

it seems we got fooled again by the previews! Alto is probably called while they are cooking together and as always he gets lost in his thoughts and forget that sheryl is waiting for him.

I myself don't drink at all because I become a complete different person when drinking and that got me in trouble when i was young the few times i was drunk! they tell me I am a happy drunk, Too happy and too grabby! :P

Well, I was a mean (and violent) drunk, so I speak from experience when I say that most people don't drink to be happy, but do so to augment whatever it is they're feeling at the time, be it happiness, sadness, rage, whatever... not really a single cause, IMHO.

But, I also think that most people drink to celebrate something, and I believe that to be the case with that picture of Sheryl.

I really like Alto as of now, he's one of my fav characters but if he breaks Sheryl's Heart, I'd say he'd become the biggest jerk/asshole/dick alive & the most-pathetic-wanna-be-but-failed-to-be-manly-kinda-guy. I just need Sheryl to survive this series with her dignity & character intact.
If Alto decides to not be a part of her life in the way she wants him to be, then I really cant bring myself to care abt what happens to him later in the series But I really think he's better than that.
I really dont see him backing away from his words ever, infact we have it from the Queen's mouth herself in abt ep 6, i think, where she says He's got integrity ( *squee* I soooo looooooove that part of him too) & I believe her, So, there's no way that the Alto-Hime that we know would ever sacrifice his integrity. It is not befitting his royal status as the Queen's Hime.

BTW, what do people make of the "February 2009... Macross begins!" thingy from the October Newtype issue? Some people are speculating that it alludes to when the SDF-1 fell out of the sky ( February 2009 in the Macross timeline ). Could as well be the next season, though. Opinions?

February 2009 is the SDF-1 launch and first contact with the Zentradi, (i.e. episode 1 of SDFM). It's too early for a new season, let alone a new show.

I think if Alto ever backs out from his promise to Sheryl, that it'll be a misunderstanding and Sheryl will think Alto didn't mean what he said and welcome her death... :S

Actually, it Code Geass R2 came out pretty quickly.

Yeech... I hope I haven´t cursed a possible S2 of Macross Frontier to suck as much now, like CG R2.

Impossible. Klan is supposed to be the main character, and so long as she's cool like Teddy Roosevelt (after his first wife died, he spent seven years herding cattle in the southwest, and never spoke of her again), everything will be alright. She's young. She's Cultured. She's a prideful, sophistcated Meltran, and easily the most mature and geninuely intelligent character in the entire series.

The only way it could possibly be ruined is if Sheryl is introduced as a pilot.

Interview: Who has become a good woman with regards to Sheryl & Ranka?
Sheryl. Ranka right now still feels like she's just becoming an adult. From 30 to 70 I'd say "hug everyone!" (Translator note: that last line about 30 to 70 I'm a bit iff on. Anyone else wanna give it a shot?)

Ranka (Nakajima): At the climax, what does Ranka want?
She wants everyone to be happy, not to hurt each other anymore.
For herself, for those around her, that's her wish.

Wishing Sheryl finds happiness. Both as a singer and as a woman.
For Alto... to obtain the things he wants.
Brera-san, from here on, please continue to support Ranka!

Will Ranka's wish be granted?
Ranka is a child overflowing with love, it's shown in her actions.
If she can keep growing with love, she will be closer to happiness.
I believe she can find her own true song and true feelings.

Megumi's words pretty much reflect some of our views on Ranka's dependency on Alto, and how it was holding her back. It's not actually needed, seeing how the series has been fairly stable in depicting this theme so far, but it is a nice confirmation regardless, especially coming from the person who knows Ranka's heart inside and out. Now that Ranka gave up and broke free of her chains, she'll hopefully start to grow and mature from this point on.
