Excellent episode. Much as I enjoy Taketatsu Ayana as a person, I've been slow to credit her as a good seiyuu. But this episode made me realize that she actually did create a character in this show, and did some good things with her voice.

I loved the "I'll be calling him something else soon," line. And Kuroneko out of nekomimi and in a school uniform was good.

I'm not crazy about Taketatsu Ayana (probably because she seems to be in every other show lately), but there is one thing she does very well. All those little grunts of frustration and exasperation (like the one in episode 11 where she sees Kyosuke in the doorway with Minami) are just perfect.

Kirino is not a lovable character, but anyone who has had a teenage sister can tell you that some of her characterizations are very true to life. My own sister is within a few years of my age like Kyosuke, and she was a major PITA when she was a teenager. The emotional distance between siblings during the teen years certainly felt familiar.

So, what happened with the imouto bicycle that Kyousuke borrowed?
Probably we'll see that glasses otaku again in the next episode.

He has his own spotlight in the opening. Of course he'll show up later.

Seeing some people complain about the first-half being the same footage, what did you expect? The episode IS BILLED as Episode 12 just as the TV version did, you can't fault the first-half been the same and the reuse scenes when the premise of both episode were the same. Besides It's nowhere near what Haruhi did. now that's something I'm still had problem with no matter how they tried to justify it.

To sum up.....Last scene is PURE WIN !!!

Loved this episode. I know it was a repeat, but the episode felt right.

And Kuroneko's "Senpai" was -rific.

But, I doubt anything will ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. -EVER-. Beat her "Nii-san" in his harem room.

Yet another series saved by a Hanazawa Kana character. So that's what Kuroneko meant when she said she'd call him something else soon enough (I thought it was a joke and that she was going to call him "darling" ) . I'm actually looking forward to a potential second season now. If only Kirino could stay in America... yes, I know that'll never happen but a man can dream.

PS: That animesuki award header fills me with a warm and fuzzy feeling (`・ω・´)
I'm late to this but no, the scene after Kyousuke bought the game was also different, he pedaled home instead of taking the train. Additionally, a new character was introduced, with his name given as (Nazo no Itachari Oonaa - which is a mouthful to translate; literally "Mysterious Owner of a Bicycle Painted with Anime Characters"). For him to appear in the OP should be a strong foreshadowing that he's not a tom, dick, harry character.

I thought it a great first OAV. It repeats most of the events of ep 12 but that's just to emphasize the last 5 seconds (gyaaaaaah!!!) Rewatching the lineup homo scene was still pretty funny.

The part where kyousuke picks a different choice was quite creative and funny too. His life is just one big eroge. And I hope nobody was eating/drinking during the scatoro bit. Funny as hell I love this series so much.

I wish i never watch this ending. I really hate how Kirino left w/o saying goodbye to Kyosuke. I guess I am the kind of person who hates sad ending. This kind of reminds me of Angel Beats ending leaving me in a WTF! moment. Most of the people dislike the character Kirino but without her this anime won't be as good and most of you won't fall for Kuroneko. .

The alternative ending truth route is a clever idea if makes you feel like your playing an eroge. I hope their will be a season 2 with a prettier and more mature Kirino back from the US.

The Good End is the alternative. This is how the novels went.

Very touching in many ways, as frequently is the case. And very funny as well. One very important thing Kirino learned from her collection: if you don't understand a word in a title, make sure you find out before you buy it. I myself didn't know what "sukatoro" AKA scatology is until recently (I believe I first heard the term with Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!!). I can certainly see buying a game on impulse because you love the author or artist, but still. I can only imagine the look on Kirino's face when she started playing the game and saw all that crap (literally).

The report cards were interesting and gave some good insight into her background motivation. I hope at some point we find out just what really inspired her to start playing imouto games, and perhaps how old she was when she got her first eroge. Considering the size of her collection at fourteen, she must have been rather young when she started, perhaps as little as twelve or eleven. I suppose she loved a PS game and got the original PC version, but the first time must have been quite an event. Not many kids try to sneak porn into the house at such a young age, and with the fear and tension I bet most kids that age would be caught immediately. Thank God that Kirino's father didn't catch her when she got that one game though. Finding one's young daughter with a game about forming sexual relations with an older brother would be terrifying to a father, particularly when an older brother actually exists. Finding a little girl with a game about a girl who does THAT with her brother would kill him.

i'm new here and i just watched the true route first but can anyone tell me why they did this? Did they make the first episode 12 then decided they wanted to change the ending and doing three more episodes? Was it not meant to have a second season so they made that first ending or something?

I dont understand... I'm happy, but this really makes me go nuts.!

It was planned this way from the get-go, so it's not like they changed their mind or anything like that. I guess you could call it a "marketing gimmick". They wanted to animate more content than they had time for on TV, since this would help sell more Blu-Rays. But rather than end on a cliffhanger, they took advantage of the fact that visual novels often have "alternate endings". So this way the TV show had an ending, but you (theoretically anyway) had to buy the Blu-Rays/DVDs to get the "true ending".

They did eventually re-air the show re-edited (basically cutting out two other episodes) so that everyone could see the show to the true ending before watching the now-airing sequel.
