Something like Black Lagoon

Something involving stylistic gunfights, plenty of explosions, a somewhat dark storyline and (if possible) a prominent, strong female character, either as the protagonist or like Revy was for Black Lagoon, despite Rock being the main character.

Go!

Edit: Cyberpunk is also acceptable, though I don't like GitS or Ergo Proxy, and I've seen the obvious ones.

Try Mnemosyne, dark story, strong female lead, gunfights etc... that's the closest thing I could think of that's similar to Black Lagoon description.

For an alternative selection try R.O.D OVA (one of my all time fav), has a great story and a strong female lead. Although it lacks gunfighting compared to BL, it remain action pack with other method of killing.

Mnemosyne #1 was excellent, #2 was like watching an h-game adaptation, complete with standard awkwardness and ridiculousness. Not entirely hopeful about the rest of the OVA.

R.O.D.'s concept bugs me, but it's been praised fairly regularly by many folks so I'll think about it.

R.O.D. is strange as all get out, but it is easily one of the best pure action anime OVA/movies you can find. All the powers are unique as well as all the heroes and villians. I highly recommend, as well as second, this series to any action fan.

Baccano!. Similar to Black Lagoon, only with some superpowers, many more characters and way better plot.

Or Noir, if you almost all female cast is crucial for you.

Noir failed to impress me other than Yuki Kajiura's excellent soundtrack work.

Bacanno! is one of my all-time favorite stories though, out of movies, books, games and anime, it ranks waaaaay up there.
