"Yeah," Syn agreed lightly while frantically patting her pockets to see if she had her keys.
"No purse?" Vivio asked while getting her own and putting it over her shoulder. "I didn't see you with one so I didn't take one with us..."
"I don't carry one, gets in the way." Syn found her keys and cell phone in the same pocket, pulling them out to show her friend that she was ready.
"Hm," Vivio hummed to herself and went to her door, holding it open for her guest. "Can I get your number? It'd be good to have a new friend."
"Sure," The two swapped phones on the way to the elevator and entered them in as they went down. "This is a rather nice apartment complex compared to mine." Syn looked around after she got her own phone back and pocketed it once more. "I live... well I can't really compare it to here... where are we?"
Vivio laughed to herself as they went outside into the cooling Fall air. "We're on the north side of town, more to the east."
"I see, I shouldn't be too far..." Her eyes looked around and mind mentally tried to calculate their position while still struggling to ignore the hangover. "Ugh, maybe I should put off job hunting until later... but..." She sighed, knowing that she needed a job immediately. "Don't suppose that little acting thing you do needs a spare on the set?"
Vivio had to repress laughter. "No, I don't think you'd really like it. What do you want to do?"
"Honestly?" Syn raised her hand to flag a taxi and this time opened the door for Vivio. "I wouldn't mind a desk job somewhere. Hell even a secretary."
"I... don't know of any place." She paused to tell the driver where to go and the two talked casually about different places. "You could just buy a newspaper and check the help wanted ads."
"Yeah..." Syn looked away and felt her spirits go down a little. "Um... Can I ask a really embarrassing favor?"
"Yes?"
"Can I... Borrow a dollar to buy a newspaper?"
Vivio could feel pity welling up for the girl in front of her, a small connection being reached as she remembered a time where she was in the same situation. "Yeah, sure... I know exactly what that's like, trust me." She got some money from her purse and gave Syn enough money to get some lunch or dinner as well. At first the extra amount was refused but after only one counter, Syn took it
"I promise I'll pay you back." The bar was reached and Vivio paid the fare before getting out and standing by the blue haired girl. "Thank you, Vivio."
"You're welcome. It was nice meeting you, let's keep in touch okay? I don't really go out that much so I'd like it if we could hang around sometime."
"Yeah, let's do that." Syn nodded at her and the two looked at each other once more before waving lightly and splitting up, going to their own cars.

...heh. Pardon my surprise, I had to let off some steam.
Anyway, AX, if you need a beta-reader, I'm always available, man. Helping people takes my mind off the fact that I've been stuck on the same Act in my fic for the last two months anyway
'Is ok. The reason I said I was busy is because I can't juggle too many writing projects atm. I need to concentrate on FotR and DR, not also SW/SWOC's.
And another beta-reader is highly appreciated. As a matter of fact I was looking for a beta by your caliber. It will take a while until the next chapter is done though. I'm looking through most of it with a critical eye, trying to make it work better.

Unyaaaa~ *flails* You deceived me!
Anyway, nice to know someone thinks well of me (in spite of the fact that I've written next to nothing )...just send me the next chapter when you're done, or part of it if that's your style. I'll take it from there and give some comments where necessary
Nanoha, Fate and Hayate landed in front of the Capital Defense Force HQ. Lindy Harlaown was talking with Chrono in the compound. “Chrono,” said Fate. “We have trouble at Saint Church.” “What trouble is that? Did that Terran negotiator arrive or what?” he asked.
“Yes, he arrived and attacked us. Those Terrans are asking for a fight!”
“Surely they wouldn’t dare.”
“I’m not kidding. He attacked us with…with those slimy, leech-like things he has in his bag.” Fate elaborated. Nanoha shook her head. “I told you we should have killed him.” She said. Chrono sighed and rubbed the temple of his head. “Very well, I’ll go have a look. If the situation is serious, I’ll inform the leaders immediately.” He drained abottle of water before he bid his mother goodbye.
Teana and Subaru reached a park in the miidle of the city. They got off the bike and sat under a tree. “Hey, my birthday is coming up. Where is my present?” asked Teana. “You want a present? Sure, I’ll give you one. Close your eyes.” Teana closed her eyes and stretched out her hands. Instead, Subaru took out a custard pie from her bag and splatted it onto Teana’s face. She laughed until her stomach hurt.
“I know that your birthday is coming up, Tia. Can’t you be patient until your birthday arrives? Still, happy birthday anyway.” “Thanks. How about I return you a favor?” Subaru gave her a clueless look and scratched her head. “You owe me nothing.” She said with a neutral voice. “Yes, you owe me nothing but you do owe my ego a splat in the face.” Saying that, Teana threw a piece of custard cream onto Subaru’s face.
“You two stop fooling around. Someone needs your help at Saint Church.” Teana and Subaru looked up and saw Shario with Vivio. “Miss Shario, I thought you were busy.” Said Subaru. “Nah, I decided to take the day off. I was asked to baby sit Vivio so I decided to come to the park. A minute ago, I received a message from Nanoha, telling you to meet them at Saint Church.” She said cheerfully. Subaru and Teana groaned. “So much for our day off. C’mon Tia, let’s go.” They changed into their magical forms. Subaru rode on her Wing Roads while Teana…got stuck in traffic. “Why am I the only one that can’t fly?!”
Back at Saint Church, Signum finally came to. She ached all over but she seemed fine. No uncontrolled movements, no mutations. “That was a long nap. Uhm…what am I doing here? Was I suppose to look for someone?” she stared at the bodies of the dead mutated security guards. “Ah hah, now I remember! I need to look for that old geezer who attacked me.” Signum picked up Laevatein and exited the office. She looked around the place but all she saw were bodies that indicated a battle. She was surprised to see a human take out even the most elite of guards.
“This place is too quiet. Perhaps that man already left.” Suddenly, as if she gained a super hearing ability, Signum heard voices even when there was no one.
“Cerebrel activities in control. Moving to awake the host.” A voice said.
Suddenly, one of the bodies behind her got up. It hit her in the back with a fist to her back. “Oww, that hurts!” she yelled. Signum turned around and pierced the assailant with her sword. It fell to the ground, truly dead. “What the heck? I never knew I could hear thr dead talk. Unless they are not dead. But someone who is unconcious can’t talk…I better see Shamal after I’m done with my mission.” She said. Just when she was about to leave, she saw Nanoha and the others arrive. Signum went out to greet them.
“Signum, you’re okay! But how?!” exclaimed Nanoha.
“I’m not sure. However, everyone in the building seems to be dead.”
Chrono was worried for Sister Carim but Signum assured him that she wasn’t in there. “Where is this old man you speak of then?” asked Chrono. “Did not see him. He must have left while I was knocked out.”
Chrono sent a message to the top brass, advising them to keep a look out for someone in black tuxedo and is an old man. “This situation is too serious for us to handle. If this attacker can single-handedly defeat the personnels of Saint Church, he must be very dangerous and determined. The military must help.”
Just then, Subaru contacted them.
“Sorry to interrupt but I thought I saw an old man by the water distribution facility. Isn’t that supposed to be out of bounds?” “How does this old man look like?” asked Nanoha. “He looks old and he wears a black tuxedo.” Hayate gasped and replied. “It’s him. He must be trying to contaminate the city’s water supply! Subaru, stop him now! We will be on our way to your aid!”
“But-“
“No buts! Just go and stop him!” Hayate said before she closed the holocom. “Come, let’s go!” yelled Fate. Everyone took off and headed for the water distribution facility at the edge of Cranagan. Just as they left, hundreds of infected personnels came out from the building and saw the team left.
“The leader must have got their attention. Come my fellow virus comrades, let’s go after them.” The lead one commanded. “The panic button has been pushed and the Terrans will arrive in 5 hours time. Make haste and prepare for the Terrans.”
The Infected ran at top speed through the forest and headed towards the facility, faster than any of the mages could fly. Subaru sneaked into the facility without being noticed by the old man. She peeked from behind a crate and saw him throw a cylinder into the water tank. There was a loud boom and then silence. “Excellent, now the entire city will be under my control.” Subaru came out from her hiding spot and confronted the old man. “Whoever you are, you are in big trouble.”
Jake turned around and smiled at Subaru menacingly. Without a word, he ran towards her and punched her so hard that Subaru slid back a few metres. Subaru launched a Divine Buster attack at Jake but he leapt high onto some overhead pipes and ran along it like a sewer rat. He entered a ventilation hole. “That guy…he is weird.” Subaru said to herself. Suddenly, Jake ambushed her from behind as he leapt out from another ventilation hole. He grabbed onto her and took out a syringe of red liquid. “Don’t worry, this won’t hurt a bit!” Before he could jab Subaru, another Divine Buster shot hit him off Subaru. Yhis time, it came from Nanoha. “Let her go, Jake.” She said. “Oh ho, the red-haired one seeks to test her strength. Come; let’s see how you all fare against someone older than you.” Saying that, Jake ran in a zigzag motion so fast that Nanoha nd the others could not lock on to him.
Instead of hitting Nanoha when he reached her, Jake lashed out at Hayate with his hand and knocked her into Chrono. Fate had a clear shot for her Photon Lancer but Jake ran towards her before she could command Bardiche to shoot and got hit into a wall. Nanoha lashed at Jake but he jumped back and sideways to avoid her attack. “For a virus, you are pretty agile.” Exclaimed Nanoha. “You’re not bad yourself, I think.” Replied Jake. Signum crept behind Jake but he caught Signum in the neck and tightened his grip. “You’re the first to survive an Alpha Strain virus. Impressive but at this moment, your city will be mine.”
Just then, reports came in that the civilians in the city started mutating after drinking water from taps and any place that they can get water, including homes and office buildings. Troops were in the city and some of them were infected from bite wounds. While more troops were mobilized, the number of civilian mutations kept on growing. “My army is growing and there is nothing you can do to stop us.” Jake said with a laugh. He punched Signum in the stomach and threw her at a stunned Nanoha. “You guys stick around while I go command my army. Sooner or later, you’ll be mine. Drinking is still important so I see no reason to shoot you with my viral darts.”
A group of Infected was waiting outside of the plant. Together, they went towards the city. Signum got off Nanoha and helped her up. Signum wanted to run after Jake but Nanoha stopped her.
“We can’t do much from here. However, the only thing that might help curb the infection is to prevent people from drinking contaminated water.”
“You want them to drink sea water? That’ll kill them.” Signum snorted.
“It’s the only way. I’m also quite worried for Vivio and all at TSAB HQ. Signum, keep those that were knocked out company. I’ll go to the city to check on things.” Said Nanoha.
Teana saw people getting out from their cars and heading for cover. What she saw next was a rush of Infected like a tide. Quickly she abandoned her bike and ran for the nearest building and shut the door. “Woah, that was creepy.” She said to herself. Moments later, someone banged on the door like a battering ram. Teana held the door tightly, hoping that it would not buckle. After a while, she heard the mutants leaving. When she opened the door, she saw the street littered with dead bodies and burning cars, as if the whole place went through a war.
“I dunno what we got ourselves into but this is just outrageous. Hopefully Subaru and the others are okay. Wiat…Miss Shario and Vivio! If anything happens to Vivio, Nanoha won’t get over it. Should I go get her? I…oh the heck with it, I’m gonna regret this later.”
Saying that, she went to examine the condition of her bike. It seems okay besides a few scratches. Teana got onto the bike and rode towards the park. So, the mutant attack went on for 5 hours until evening.
Spoiler for Chapter 5: Terran Intervention:
Chapter 5: Terran Intervention
There was crackle of lighting in the city square and a blue vortex opened up. Seconds later, a team of armored units wearing hazard masks appeared followed by tanks and airplanes. Every 1 minute, more would come out.
“Command and Control, we are on this foreign planet that Jake has appeared on. Seems like the science team will get their credit for something as theoratical as a place in another dimension. Keep the troops coming but don’t squeeze all in one go. The vortex will collapse.” The lead soldier said. He carried the rank of colonel.
“I hear you loud and clear Colonel Johannes. Make sure you find out what happened to Jake but do not engage until they engage. Kiethon out.”
Johannes beckoned his troops to spread out and search the city. His group explored the east side of Cranagan. “Sir,” one of the soldiers called out. “I have some questions. Why do we need an army just to rescue an old geezer? Even if he is in trouble that does not give us a reason to send a regiment to check on him.”
“I know and the same question has been running through my head to, Private. However, I have no right to question the top brass or I’ll get court-martialled. Despite being a war hero, Kiethon is somewhat…egoistic. He likes to show off his army. Perhaps that explains your question.” Answered Johannes. This happened a few times but he never gave a thought about it. It kind of reminded Johannes of his brother, always showing off that he is better than Johannes in everything.
“Sir, this place looked like it had been through a battle.” His aid replied after he saw the “scenic” view of the streets. Johannes looked around and nodded. He removed his cigar from his mouth and threw it onto the road. “I agree. It couldn’t be any of the military that did this but this looks……familiar. Reminds me of the infection incident that happened on Earth. Do you think that a virus strain got here?”
“I doubt that, sir.”
“I’m not sure but the air of death tells me that something is very wrong. Everyone set your motion trackers to maximum range. We don’t want anyone or anything ambush us.” He barked. The group advanced cautiously down the streets, stopping whenever they hear a noise. One of his soldiers found a staff on the road near a burnt police car. “Sir, look at this. It looks like some kind of weapon.”
Johannes picked up the weapon and examined it. After a while, he chucked it one side and snorted. “Child’s toy. I’ve seen plenty of these in Japan when I visited Akihabara last year. I’m surprised that these even exist on foreign worlds.” He said while reloading his assault rifle. “Come, let’s not waste time.”
As the sun set further into the horizon, the street lamps turned on. The soldiers turned on their flashlights and proceeded. Just when they were about to enter an alleyway, a body of a dead mage fell in front of Johannes. The startled soldiers backed away but Johannes bent down to examine it. He checked for any identity card and wounds. He found both.
“This guy’s name is Montierro Langerans, age 27 and is a mage of the Capital Defense Force. His device is Black Dragon. Mage? What the hell is with these people? First a toy and now they they think they are spell casters from Dungeons and Dragons? Inhabitants on this…Mid-Childa are really eccentric the least to say.” Snorted Johannes. His soldiers gave amused laughs but they were not laughing when a mutant ran at Johannes. Johannes snapped up his rifle and fired a few rounds at the mutant’s head, killing it instantly.
“Not good,” said Johannes. He clicked his COM and sent a transmission to everyone present. “This is Colonel Johannes Delecroix of the 41st Steel Talons Regiment, I urge all soldiers to be careful, and mutants were sighted. Gas masks on and don’t drink any water from this city. I fear that this place has suffered our fate.” He closed the COM.
“Soldiers double time and search for Jake! We will have to find a bulding to stay in if we can’t find Jake by nightfall.”
“Yes sir!”
Nanoha landed on top of a building’s roof. She scanned the city streets for nearly 6 hours but couldn’t find Vivio and Shario. Nanoha’s heart beated quickly, anxious to find Vivio. Then, she spotted tanks and soldiers in urban uniform traversing towards the city’s central park.
“Wait, those are Terrans. That means Jake has triggered the panic button. Seems like he wasn’t kidding when he said Terrans have a dimensional portal. I’ll see if I can ask help from them.”
The soldiers seemed relaxed even though Johannes told them there maybe mutants about. Suddenly, Nanoha landed in front of them. The tanks stopped and the soldiers aimed their rifles at her. “Don’t shoot, I’m not a mutant!” yelled Nanoha. The soldiers were not convinced so they bio-scanned her. “No signs of infection. Who are you?” asked one of the soldiers. “My name is Nanoha Takamachi, currently rank of Captain. My city came under attack by viruses and the man responsible is Jake, your negotiator.”
The soldiers looked at each other and laughed. “Yeah right, as if we would believe that. You, a young blood, as Captain of this forsaken planet’s army? If that is so, I’m the King of England!” one of them mocked. “No, really, here is my ID card if you don’t believe me.” Said Nanoha as she handed the lead soldier her card. He examined it and gave a whistle. “Well, I dunno how true is this but what is this Non-Governed Planet 97?”
“That would be Earth.”
The other soldiers gasped. “Earth? You mean you’re a human as well? Okay, this is confusing. You said this is your city and yet you say you come from Earth? Are you trying to pull our legs?”
“Damn, I’m not trying to pull your legs! It’s a long story if I were to tell you how I got here and all that. Please believe me.” She pleaded. The soldiers all muttered something when the lead finally said “Okay, we’ll believe you for now. However, you must come with us and meet our Colonel.”
“I have no time. My daughter maybe in danger as well as my friends. I promise to meet your Colonel once we find her.” She said. The lead nodded and held up his rifle. “Lead the way but any funny buisness from you and you’ll be tasting tungsten. Coporal Lucas, you’re in charge of the tanks. Scout the rest of the city while me and a few troops follow this lady to find her daughter.” Said the lead as he pointed at a soldier named Coporal Lucas.
Vivio came out from her hiding spot in a sewer hole. She peeked out and saw nobody except some retreating mages. “All clear, Miss Shario.” Said Vivio, She climbed out of the sewer, followed by Shario. She adjusted her spectacles and dusted herself. “Luckily we hid in that stink hole. Come Vivio; let’s go find your mother”
The two walked down the dark streets. The night wind blew into their ears, making an eerie sound. “Wow, the city is so silent that I can even hear the wind. Miss Shario, where is Nanoha-mama?” asked Vivio. “I’m not sure. I can’t contact her but I’m sure she’ll be okay. She is a very powerful mage, an Ace of Aces. She can’t be defeated easily.” Answered Shario.
Suddenly, they were surrounded by mutants that leapt out from buldings. Shario took out a handgun and aimed at the closest mutant.

D: I'm a perfect fine be- ... on second thought... getting a beta who isn't as busy as I've been is probably a good idea ^^;; I approve

It's not that I doubt your abilities or that you are busy, but having more than one beta is better for the story itself.
Also, two betas deliver different views and perhaps opinions that might provide me with more ideas.
I will explain better in FFC, I don't want to put it up here.
Vivio looked over at her cell phone ringing next to her laptop and grinned at the name that was on the small screen. She hadn't heard from Syn in three days and was about to call the girl herself once she was done with her business. "Hello," She greeted into her cell.
"Hi," Syn's casual greeting came back. "What are you up to?"
"Replying to emails," Vivio mused while lightly skimming a letter from one of her fans detailing what they would do to her if they had a night alone.
"Oh? You get a lot?"
"A handful." The blond looked at the number remaining and repressed a sigh to see that it was still over fifty. "It's part of my job. I have to update my web page and answer fan-mail.
"Oh? What's your URL?" Syn sounded interested.
Vivio glanced at the webpage and laughed nervously. "It's rather embarrassing if my friends looked at it..."
"Oh, no problem then." A chuckle made Vivio relax. "Oh, the reason I'm calling: I got a job and have my first paycheck. It's not very much since it's only for half the week, but I'd like to pay you back for everything."
"Oh don't worry about it!" A few clicks deleted some email that she wasn't even going to attempt to reply to. "I did it because I wanted to." She pasted a standard reply to another email from her group of saved responses and clicked the send button. "I'd feel bad if- oh."
"What?"
"One second please." Vivio read the email again, grinning at the contents. 'A request to buy a private video! Nice, that's an extra hundred dollars!' After skimming the email and confirming that she would do it to the person she gave a price and sent it back. "Tell you what, Syn, I just got some extra money, how about we go get some food? My treat."
"But I want to pay you back!"
A giggle. "Come on, let's celebrate your new job. You can tell me all about it tonight. Please? I am going to scream if I have to sit in front of this monitor anymore."
"Well... Okay, but I'm driving. I'll at least pay for the gas."
"That'll work. Shall I go to your place?"
"I'll pick you up... Say an hour?"
Vivio nodded to herself. "Okay, an hour it is then."
"Good, it's a date then." Syn's voice was highly amused.
"Keep your mind out of the gutter, Syn." Vivio replied out of habit.
"Oh... ouch. Denied."
"Ah! I didn't mean that!" Vivio scooted back from her desk and gave the phone her complete attention. "Sorry, I'm just used to being hit on and-"
"No, it's okay, I said it so-" A small silence passed over them.
"Okay, okay! One date." Vivio rolled her eyes. "Its a date."
"Cool! See you then, ja!" The phone clicked off and Vivio flipped her phone closed.
"An hour," She thought aloud while moving back to her desk. "I guess I can finish this up later..." She looked at the emails remaining and groaned. "I should finish it first...." Her eyes started skimming again, clicking each email into categories of "really perverted" "semi perverted" and "personal reply". After mass mailing standard replies to each one, she looked at the five left that needed her own words and set about giving them an honest happy reply that they were her fans. After debating about it, she giggled and adjusted her webcam and pulled up her shirt and bra, clicking a picture while giving a peace sign as an added bonus for making her smile after rooting through all the trash she had to deal with.
"Now, to get ready for my date." Vivio walked to her closet and felt her lips still smiling as she moved to get a modest long sleeved shirt and jeans that weren't quite baggy but still didn't show any of her curves. "I wish I had time to shower... Better put on perfume." She halted her walk to the bathroom and shook her head. "Wow, I'm really considering this a date... how long has it been?"
Once in the bathroom, she hovered her hand over a brush and then quickly snatched it up, fixing her hair so she would have time to put on a little makeup as well.

“We’re in trouble.”
Two chapters here. Hope you like it.
I like em! Really I have no problems with these chapters like I did the last one. Just spell check your chapters. Oh and it's Shari not Shario. So it looks like Jake is the evil one not the Terrans, except they don't believe Nanoha that Jake is evil, just that they have the same virus. I think something bad is going to happen to Vivio.

All right a date! Fanmail... I wonder what Syn's job is?
Hi! As some of you know, I've recently been posting MGLN fics over at ff.net, and more than one person (markesellus and RadiantBeam among them) mentioned that I should take a look over here. So I did. And after I picked my jaw up off the floor at the sheer amount of Nanoha fiction here (and all the familiar names...), I decided to sign up. So here I am!

Um, and since it's customary to bring gifts or something...at least in some cultures...some of which I may have heard of...here's a little something. It started out being one of the "Vivio's Magical Omake Theater!" bits that I clip onto the end of my Nanoha fics, but it got kind of out of hand until it was a story of its own. So...um, it's a good way to see if I've managed to figure out how to make these spoiler tags work?
Anyway, it takes place in, sort of, my own future-Vivio continuity, now on its second story.
Spoiler for How Reputations Are Made:
The giant hammer, its head ten feet long and four across, its tip a spinning drill, reared up in the sky.
"Limit Break!" shouted the petite redhead holding the handle. The hammer head rose and fell three times, popping out spent cartridges. "Destruction Hammer!"
The blonde teenager facing her grinned, her heterochromatic red and green eyes alight with the joy of battle. "Parisfal! Now!"
The vambrace on her upper right arm ratcheted up and down three times of its own, spitting out brass. The jeweled setting flickered royal blue.
"Stahl-Festung!"
Irresistible force met immovable object. The ultimate magical attack of the Iron Hammer Knight, Vita, collided with the ultimate magical defense of her student, Takamachi Vivio. The resulting explosion was deafening, a blaze of white light blotting out everything.
When the dust cleared, they lay at opposite ends of a thirty-foot crater blown in the training ground surface. Shaking her head to clear the cobwebs, Vivio tried to stand but a searing pain in her lower right leg made her sit back down.
"Oh, man," she groaned, then raised her voice. "Hey, Vita-sensei, can you give me a hand? I think I broke my tibia again."
"You're getting slack, kid. I keep telling you not to brace off your back foot like that when you're taking a hit that might get through."
"Sorry." It was a bad habit and she knew it.
"I'll be there in a sec."
Vita wobbled her way over.
"Can you pop my shoulders back in?"
"Both?"
"Hey, that shield of yours gives as good as it gets."
Vivio smiled at the compliment.
"Okay." Vita extended her arms; Vivio took them, braced her good foot in Vita's belly to hold her body in place, and yanked. There was an audible pop and both shoulder joints slipped back into place. That done, Vita helped Vivio stand up and let the taller girl put an arm around her for support.
"We," Vita summed it up, "are a mess." She smiled and added, "Nice fight, kid."
"Thanks, sensei." Vivio smiled back. They really were two of a kind, she thought, Belkan mage-knights and close-combat specialists, though their particular approaches to battle were almost mirror images. Vita came on like a relentless machine, crushing anything stupid enough to get in her way, while Vivio put herself in her enemy's path and let them shatter themselves on her shield walls. They'd been mentor and pupil for five years. Better than that, they were friends.
At the entrance to the training ground, they passed five white-shirted privates, there for their own morning training session, who watched them with stunned faces. Clearly they'd seen most of the mock battle on the monitor screens.
"Go get the car, willya?" Vita asked. "And call up Shamal and tell her she'll need to patch us up again?"
"Why me?"
"She'll give you less grief over it."
"All right."
Vita handed her Graf Eisen and Vivio hobbled off, using the warhammer as a makeshift cane.
"I...is that the kind of thing we'll be learning, ma'am?" one of the braver recruits dared to ask.
Vita shook her head.
"Nah, I'm strictly the second string as a teacher. You'll be studying under Nanoha. She's way harder than I am, but she's the kid's mom, so she was afraid she'd pull her punches. Hey, Vivio, you building that car from scratch?"
"In a minute! You want to try driving a stick shift with a broken leg?"
"Sure, if they'd put the pedals where someone my size can reach."
A quarter of an hour later, a thirty-year-old brunette walked up to the training grounds, her white uniform shirt and blue skirt crisp and neatly pressed, a sunny smile on her face.
"Good morning!" she greeted her fresh class of recruits. "My name is Takamachi Nanoha, and I'm going to be the combat instructor for--" She broke off her speech, not wanting to talk over the screams the sound of her name had triggered, and surveyed the damage. Three students had fainted outright while the other two cringed in horror against the far wall. A rising acrid stench told Nanoha that a loss of bladder control had hit at least one, probably more. She hung her head and sighed.
"Mou, Vivio, do you have to do this to every new class?"

Funny and sweet. I think the notion that what's happened to Vivio should be tragic but somehow (to her) isn't gives the story a kind of underlying poignancy. Makes me wonder if Syn and Vivio will meet up again when Vivio shows up on the set for work...

Welcome to the thread! Take your shoes off and stay a while...
The gift, while unnecessary, was very nice. I believe you just gave me more things to distract myself with.
Your next step, if you chose to accept, should be to head over to the Fan Fiction chat on IRC... (see satashi's signature for details) Though be forewarned, its more of a social gathering than strict Nanoha fanfiction discussion.

Her eyes started skimming again, clicking each email into categories of "really perverted" "semi perverted" and "personal reply".
Nice one as usual Satashi
Syn's working at Vivio's place isn't she

"For Life is experience, and longevity is, in the end, measured by memory, and those with a thousand tales to tell have indeed lived longer then any who embrace the mundane."
When Vivio heard the knocking on her door she grabbed her purse and went over to it quickly, stopping just for a moment to check herself one more time. "Hey Syn." She greeted her while locking her door behind herself. "You look nice today."
"Thanks," Syn looked over Vivio while she was eyed herself. The blue haired one had on snug fitting jeans, boots, and a long sleeved shirt that wasn't tight but still made notice of her small chest more than a normal fitting one would. Her hair was up in a high ponytail and swished behind her with every step. "You look nice as well."
"Thank you very much." Vivio was a little amazed at how Syn opened the door for her when they reached the car and sat in it comfortably. She immediatly noticed a faint hint of a cleaning solution that was masked almost perfectly by a nice smell that seemed...almost like the Fall season in itself. 'How cute, she must have cleaned up her car for our date.' She rewarded the girl with a grin when she got in. "I like your car."
"It's old, but it gets me around." Syn gave a lopsided smirk at the compliment, feeling a little embarrassed from it. "Where do you want to eat?"
"Doesn't matter."
"Me either..." The two looked at each other before Vivio played the 'get away without answering' card.
"I'm paying, so you pick."
"Well then...What kind of food do you like to eat?"
"Anything." Vivio found this new game to be quite amusing, and avoided the question neatly three times before her friend gave up and picked a place that she wanted to eat at. "So, tell me about your new job? They paid you the first week without a hold back?"
"Yes, it was really helpful."
"So where is it?"
"I'm a clerk at the clothing store in the strip mall down town. I do the cash register and stuff."
"Sounds fun, get to meet a lot of people."
"I'm not really a people person. I tend to...I guess you could say that I have a wise-cracking attitude. It makes some people not like me."
"Oh?" Vivio started playing with the radio. "You seem really kind to me."
"I like people who hold good conversation." The way Syn said it made the other girl realize the obvious flirt. "You seem really smart."
"I graduated high school, no college."
"Same. I was going to go into the military."
"Why didn't you?"
"Mom wouldn't let me." Syn reflected back on it. "I was going to sign up but mom said that I wouldn't be able to handle it and refused to let me join. I got really mad and one thing lead to another. Before long I realized that I moved off on my own to prove that I can handle life."
"I'm sorry..."
"Nah, we made up after a few months. She invited me to come live with her again but I really did want to make it on my own... kind of a personal goal. So here I am, struggling along with the rest of the world. How about you?"
Vivio blushed, realizing now that Syn was trying to hint at wanting to know more about her and what she did with her life. "My parents died when I was younger,as you know, and when I turned eighteen I lost my benefits and support so I was on my own. My parent's friends all wanted to help me but because of what happened with my parents, I couldn't be around them... call it a phobia... So I moved off and after a while I just... stopped talking to them." She looked out the car window, voice getting a little softer. "I decided that I'm better leaving the past behind me and moving on." Looking back, she smiled. "I'm making it on my own. Sometimes I have enough money to splurge, sometimes it's a little tight, so I try and balance it out."
"I see," Syn nodded at her. "That's really respectable."
"Thank you, you too."
"Thanks." Syn's lips twitched upwards slightly. "We've said that a lot tonight."
"So we have," Vivio agreed.
By the time they made it to the restaurant and got a table, the blue haired one felt her stomach growl at her. The place was crowded, the many tables being full of chattering people and waiters zig-zagging through the black and white tiled floor. "Ever eaten here?" Syn noticed the girl looking around.
"Actually, no. I didn't even know this was a restaurant." Vivio picked up the menu off the table and glanced over it. "Little no name brand places like this normally have the best food."
"Yeah," Syn agreed while looking at the girl. Already knowing what she wanted, she took the time to simply take in the girl. The way her hair curled around her ears, the side-up ponytail, and the crystal clear eyes seemed to sparkle in the light.
"...What?"
"Hm?"
"You're staring at me."
"Because you're pretty." Syn grinned at the sudden blush. "Not used to being complimented?"
"Ah, well... Not by..."
"Girls?"
"No, I mean, just not so... randomly. I just realized that most times it's just... hollow. When you said it, it was just... I dunno, nice. Topic change, how old are you?"
Syn laughed happily but still allowed the focus to shift. "Twenty three."
"A year older than me." A waiter came to them next, moving their focus away from each other in favor of ordering.
~**~
"Thanks again for dinner." Syn spoke to her friend while standing at Vivio's doorstep once more. "Next time I promise I'll pay."
"Next time?" Vivio asked with an amused tone. "Confident I'll go out with you again?"
"Yes, I'm awesome." The girl put a hand on her hip and posed lightly. "Really, though, I had fun."
"Me too." The blond's smile got bigger when Syn stepped forward a bit.
"Kiss on the first date?"
"Yes." Vivio waited until Syn got close enough and placed a finger onto her lips. "But only on the nose." With that, she pecked the tip of her friend's nose and opened her now unlocked door. "Goodnight, Syn." She sang to the confused girl.
"Mou, Goodnight, Vivio." A small wave was given and after the door was closed a small sigh came out. "So close too..."
"I heard that!" Vivio called from inside, making her friend blush furiously.
Syn made it back to her car and drove home with a content smile on her face. Reaching to her cell phone, she hit a speed dial and waited three rings before a familiar voice picked up. "HEy mom!... No,haha. I was just calling to tell you something... Yeah... I met a really nice girl."
Yes, I hate you. And you know why? Because it does end HERE!
No seriously. It was great and I was hoping for this outcome. Maybe because there are probably only three fics (AFAIK) featuring Nanoha x Fate x Hayate treesome. And when I think about it, creators of this anime are probably serving this treesome too. Do you remember where Hayate asked Nanoha and Fate whether they will help her with her own unit?
three fics? mind telling where to find those? it's hard enough to see a F and H fic, any suggestion for that as well?

Welcome! Glad to have you aboard :3 Enjoy your stay, pull up a chair, and chat your brains out. I don't read fanfiction so I'm not familiar with your name, but I gave that little present of yours a read and I must say, it's not that bad. Vita and Vivio were cute, and the ending made me giggle.
As our local cat told you, feel free to come to our chatroom, the link is under my signature. Don't be scared, it's just a social gathering spot that we all hang out in ^_^

Hey buddy! Long time no talk.
And your omake... I've said it before and I'll say it again, how do you come up with this stuff? It gets me everytime. Poor Nanoha. I can just imagine the look on her face after walking in on the destruction Vivio caused. XD
Speaking of Vivio, I saw your new fic on FF.net and plan to review it as soon as I can. I apologize for the delay; I've been very busy. Sorry about that... but I'm definitely reviewing it.
