You should really try the VN, the art is a bit...., but it really grows on you and after a couple of hours you don't even mind it (most VN readers prefer it to the actual anime art). Evrything is deatiled and a lot of information the anime doesn't give it's there. NOt even the manga does it well, it was made by the one who made Onikakushi and is a lot Higurashi-esque

As a VN player, I think the only problem I had with this episode is the lack of connection (?) between the scenes. The whole episode seemed to be in pieces and the plot didn't seem to be flowing smoothly. Because of that, I'm not really confident that I'd really enjoy this episode even if I weren't a VN player.

As for the scenes which were cut, I don't really think I care that much. I'll just replay the game over and over. Of course, it's sad that Rosa Musou and Lambda only had like a minute or so but, well, too bad. DEEN's like that. I obviously don't think that this is their best effort but then again I don't think we'll be seeing that 'best effort' anytime soon.

I'll just give this episode a 7. The individual scenes were good enough. Somewhat. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go replay the Rosa Musou part in the game again.

I'm still waiting for my subbed episode to download, but I just wanted to say:

Anime defenders -- stop complaining about VN players complaining. SERIOUSLY. You make it much more epic and vast by constantly deriding and baiting them so that the discussion goes on for pages and pages. Accept that it is their opinion, state your own opinion, and move on. This thread has already become rather unwelcome for anime-only viewers, and it's not just because of some negative opinions, but also because of the big deal being made about it by everyone. Chill. the fuck. out.

I will be back later after I've been able to watch the episode, but in general, my complaints with the anime in regards to pacing has not been "ZOMG THEY CUT STUFF OUT!" Clearly, lots of stuff needs to be cut from the VN. I just don't always think that they are cutting what needs to be cut. Instead, they linger over scenes that aren't really as important, and cut out important character-building or plot-significant parts due to their poor story-planning.

However, I don't think the adaptation is abysmal. Overall, I am enjoying the anime, I just think anime watchers need to pay close attention to what is going on and maybe look at some of the supplementary materials thoughtfully provided on this board, or else they are going to get confused. There are a lot of anime-viewers who are confused about things they shouldn't be at this point. Part of that is the anime's fault, part of it is their fault, and probably part of it is the VN players' fault, because too many are busy mouthing off about stuff they shouldn't be, and then the anime-watchers get the wrong end of the stick and come up with strange misconceptions.

It can be done right. In most cases I directly said what and how can it be done better. DEEN doesnt have any will to improve because making shitty adaptations earns them enough money. If there still be people who are content with what they do it will never improve. DEEN needs LARGE fiasco - it will destroy them or force them to improve, either way fans will win.

And the other VN they are adapting right now is Fate movie (which will suck as well).

This episode WAS SICK! For the first time it made want to vomit at one point, which I will show in a pic. One more thing Should Bernkastel join Battler I WOULD THINK that he has a greater chance to beat Beatrice!

Lambdadelta is interesting BUT I HATE HER! The reason is that she is siding for now with Beatrice against Bernkastel and we all know who Rika is from Higurashi. SHE BETTER NOT FUCK AROUND with Bernkastel because I AM WITH HER and Battler!

I have to admit that Kanon's shield with George inside WAS COOL!

TOO BAD it did not hold out! At least Beatrice was so much

Okay, I just watched it. I gave it a 7, but I almost would have given it an 8 if Musou Rosa had been been a bit longer and the first tea party a bit shorter, since that scene grossed me out even more than the VN did. *cry*

Overall, while this episode SHOULD have been a lot slower, I felt like it held together as a good anime episode on its own, with a few exceptions.

- The reversal of scene length I already mentioned. Still, I felt like they got across the best parts of Musou Rosa in the length they gave it, except for 1) the fountain pen, which was just way too awesome to cut, and 2) Rosa's thoughts about her siblings/her general frustration. I know it would have sucked for us to have a few seconds of internal monologue from her, but I would have loved to see her mutter something about her impossible life, her awful siblings, etc. to set up the tea party scene. And as I said, I didn't feel Rosa's frustration in the scene. She was too held together. We didn't need to see her breaking her ankle like in the VN, but I wish there had been more of a sense that she had hit rock bottom.

(Also, there were a lot of lazy jumps where people were standing in that scene. Maria fell down behind Rosa, and then Rosa was standing next to her with the gun. Rosa ran forward to hit the goats, but then Maria was suddenly right next to her to hand her the gun.)

- The worst part of the episode to me was the jump between Musou Rosa and the tea party. It was very abrupt. Anime viewers SHOULD understand that we are in the tea party, based on their experiences with episode 5, but we all know many of them won't. I think even just a quick title card saying "WHEN THE SEAGULLS CRY THERE ARE NO SURVIVORS" would have worked to separate the scenes, get the point across, and it would have been as dramatically appealing as that transition is in the VN.

Other than that ... I actually didn't mind how short Lambda's appearance was. She did have more than one line. They did set up her role in the story. I don't know if they hinted enough at WHO she is, but mostly I was fine with it. Hopefully we will see more of her personality next arc.

Some stuff I loved:

- The transition between Battler's shouting "Beatrice" and Kinzo crying in the study.
- The golden banquet omg D:
- They kept the adrenaline up
- They did a good job with Shannon vs. Beatrice
- Dude, Ohara almost sounded like Paku Romi at times! I kept expecting her to shout "HAGANE NO RENKINJUTSUSHI!!" Love it!
- "You're too young to ask someone to eat you." OMG even more horrible and hilarious than in the VN.

And those people that complains about VN players complaints? I reckon the best way is do not come to this site, or any sites that discuss the anime episode, before I finish watching the episode. That way, it's possible to experience without other people's interference and rate the episode base on its own merit (hopefully). I treat those complaints as spoilers as to how much more awesomeness the VN will be adding to the story once I get my hands onto them. I don't see the reason to get upset over them. Knowing that there's more good things up ahead to explore in the series is a good thing. Funny how I usually treat anime as an introductory medium to a series, and then go over other types of presentation of the story (including good doujins) to grasp the world the author presents.

Maybe you'll think I'm crazy but I gave this episode a 10, the highest I've given so far. I totally loved every single bit of this episode. Of course I do wish it would have been longer, but what was shown was amazing. They didn't censor the banquet, they didn't censor the naked Battler, they didn't censor Rosa's meal. They kept everything that I personally was waiting for. I can care the less about the super paper, they kept the "you are ten year early to ask someone to eat you" joke. Apart from the fact it was short and rushed there wasn't a single scene that made me though: "hey that's wrong it should have been made in another way", and that is something I often though in other episodes.

Lambda's voice was a lot different than I imagined her, though... I really envisioned her more like Satoko, now I wonder how can she be annoying and sarcastic with such a cute voice.

Well since I can draw better than that, yes. As well I'm I fine arts student so visual appeal goes a long way for me. I would rather have nice art to go with the story. I also won't have be comparing the anime vs game. I understand it is almost the signature of the game but IMO I would prefer them to you know get someone else for the art.

Spoiler for is it still necessary to put those into spoilers?: first of all, as a non-VN reader, I enjoy the pump of adrenaline throughout this episode. Someone hand me a pair of shades, I just cannot look at the Shannon-George pair with the excess lovey-dovey conversations. Genji going outside? What for? Also the fact that he discovers the bodies (though I think he's the only one possible under the circumstances) cast a bit more suspicion on his role. Bloody handprints!? Interestingly on the same door as in EP1. Stakes fell off Shannon's head? Something is very fishy about that. Possibly not the cause of death? Genji lead Battler to the study = IT'S A TRAP! Naked Battler!? First I was surprised, then I had fun trying to see what camera angles they use to avoid showing the unwanted areas. The feast for the butlers was gruesome and kind of unexpected, but from the hindsight, maybe that's what should've happened. Myself got too hyped up about Rosa Musou that it felt kind of short. It didn't show enough dominance from Rosa to warrant the Musou tag. But hurray for WED. I actually thought that Rosa got knocked out and captured instead of the story moving onto the tea party. I only realised that once meta Battler made his entrance. Speaking of tea party. It's not horror anymore, it's gorn........ I don't really like the epic eye staring contest........ Someone posted previously that LambdaDelta shows the "scary side of her in the limited introduction time available. I do not agree with that. The only impression I got is that "oh, here comes another challenger...". She seem playful and childish, but not scary. And those people that complains about VN players complaints?
