Episode 1 was pretty enjoyable, though it wasn't as funny as I had hope for like in the manga. Hopefully it'll be like that later on.

The manga is very likely a copy of the novel that's why its much better. The anime skips the battle with the other class which totally ruins for me and where's the tactical battle of yuuji!!!!

But oh well I like the pace and mizuki is cute but still they shouldn't remove the real war. Because the whole idea of yuuji that to prove that test score isn't all will be misunderstood.

Though I really like the syoukanju they are soo cute. Specially mizuki and minami I like theirs and yoshii and yuuji is just your plain delinquent syokanju.

Ehhhh, they made Yoshii look way too useless than in the LN. The battle scenes were also greatly simplified. Himeji was also way too overpowered, she was an o9k character but not such that she can wipe out a whole class in 1 swipe. Original strategy in LN was more complex than 'hold out and wait for our plasma cannon (Himeji) to charge up.' But the trap was absolutely great and it seems like they were trying to get the first volume away so I guess I'll stick around and watch more.

I agree* with this guy. It is a different medium and it is portrayed by animators who might seen certain characters as more important to the storyline than others. But why should we even care when we have a Himeji that looks like a better endowed and milder version of Louise (Zero No Tsukaima)?

But seriously, Himeji is cute because all the other girls don't look as sweet as her. They need some development in the later story though.

Well, I almost thought they were going to show what made Akihisa's Punishment Inspector actually powerful (which didn't come till a later fight), but using it to show off his idiocy instead... that was GOOD.

It's been a while since I read the novel translation, but I remember the battles being extremely tactical, to the point of being somewhat confusing. This makes people complaining about their simplicity sort of funny. I have no idea what the anime plans on doing though.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this. I didn't think too much of the novel when I read it, but apparently its style of humor translates pretty well into a visual medium.

Characters are not necessarily cross-medium... but few understand/accept that (unless the adaptation is really bad, so they may use it as a excuse). Small tweaks to make them better for the anime world make big differences and that is not a bad thing!

Its cheap to write, hard to animate. Also it would turn too much into a kiddy show like those card game shows if they focus on it too much. Where they can cut corners, let them cut corners.

So? =P Face it "anime original" content is slowly creeping in as the norm, accept it! Besides I doubt it will actually make any difference if she was or not.

Novels or well "literature" is a more complex medium in itself. But anyway, I'm inclined to agree with you "more complex = better" if you actually told us (given it has come to pass) what exactly the difference in strategy was.

My guess? With Himeji as a ringer, Class A sees them as a potential threat and wants to crush them before they get their act together.

I'm not sure about it but the parts that they cut in the battle against class D is Yoshii supposedly a squad captain and his vice captain is minami. They are the support to the vanguard that first attack the class D which is hideyoshi. The battle is to drag on for long to exhaust the class D. The class F has lots of stamina given they usually play around. They also use different teachers which in the anime isn't explained. In different teacher comes with different scores and subjects. They tend to stay away from hard subjects and comes with the easy one. When the class D finally understand their plan to drag it on and call for the history or literature not sure which subject is he teacher the class D squad captain tsukamoto ask for a math teacher to finish them of. But yoshii ask to sugawa to spread a fake info for them. And not an info for the enemy because it will be revealed sooner or later and it wouldn't be effective so the target is the teacher. Sugawa go to to broadcasting room and said to the all informing the math teacher that yoshii is waiting in behind the gym and saying that his ready to cross boundaries within teacher and student and the teacher in question the math teacher is a old single teacher that goes on attacking her male students. It was a laugh when they say that captain even sacrifice his virginity for us and the enemy how can we win against such desperate move. Yoshii just tears in blood and hunt sugawa away. And comes back to HQ. Asking where sugawa is yuuji say something that he order sugawa to say it and yoshii vent on killing yuuji say that the math teacher is in the corridor and yoshii so afraid of losing something hide but its a bluntly lie. Yuuji said it after going out of class to confront to class D. Its nearly the end of the day when and both sides are exhausted and also its time for students to go home. The idea is to blend with the students that are going home and attack. The general battle style is if one isn't enough its 2 or 3 on one fight because the class F can't fight head on the class D with their raw scores. So they beat the squad captain and unto the class leader which is a guy. But yuuji and the others are corner or so it seems. When they are running away and yoshii is behind so bent on killing yuuji was left behind. And with the whole force targeting yuuji which left the leader with only few guards yoshii decide to take on the leader. But their is still one personal guard waiting for him but in the midst of the crow students their himeji takes down the class leader with no one to guard him because its engaging yoshii. The end of the battle with class D. Their is more into it but that's the general idea. I like the battle more with class B because it involves cheating, dirty tricks and sacrifice and use of the school map and surrounding and also a sudden betrayal that ended up them after fighting class B takes on Class C. But they skip it and unto class A.

Yoshii is a decent fighter and a good leader without his some funny sides but they tend to introduce him for comical purpose in the episode 1 which I can understand because its still episode 1 and also I find it not boring the way they do the episode and find it more entertaining. It's just doesn't seem right to call it a war if one annihilates all.

and I like hideyoshi's magical transforming......... it got me their.
