JAST USA announces their localization for eien no aselia: Kono daichi no hate de.
Oh, you're not misreading it. They're localizing the all-ages extended version of eien no aselia. (tokimi+kyouko route, without the 'evil' route)
Seriously, this is totally unexpected. At least for me.

The comments on the official site are pretty pathetic though. Is the 18+ content that important? I'd rather want the additional ps2 content than some hentai stills. To be fair I don't play VN's though.

I think..in japan itself, they released a version which contained the added feature from PS2 + hentai CG in it...I dunno for sure though.

Yes, there is one. It's basically a carbon copy of kono daichi no hate de with h-scenes.

It's a good VN, even though it's long (finished after more thab 50 hours).

But the VN is already translated in english by an amateur group, and Jast is gonna release the same version already translated.

I actually tried to play this one once but got bored waiting for the ADV scenes to finally finish up so I could get to the gameplay sections.

I think this was the game that might have actually killed Japanese PC gaming for me for a while because it made me realize just how much they focus on reading over getting the player to actually interact with the game.

I don't get what's the point of localizing a game if you are going to remove content. Removing the sex scenes from a visual novel is like making a G version of an adult movie. Yeah, the sex scenes aren't the focus, but they are still part of the experience. Just add a "clean run" option like Katawa Shoujo did.

The game already had a no sex scene version so it's not really a surprise to see that version localized.

It was a choice made by dakkodango themselves to translate the all ages version and not the original version. From what I recall of what they mentioned a while back, the rationale was that they just didn't like the original version because there's way too much rape and tentacling and the sex is rather unpleasant as a result. (My memory is a little fuzzy, it's been a few years.)
