And I liked that a lot more than I thought I would. I was big into dance/techno 15 years ago, so this ticked some checkboxes for me. Hilarious this school is okay with raves/dance parties on campus. Wierdly enough Funimation says this was supposed to hit on 10/30 but both they and Crunchyroll have the first episode up today

It was a pre-air. Bang Dream 3, for example, was streamed 3 weeks earlier than TV airing.
I was not planning to watch it despite my love to Bang Dream and Sanzigen, but the first ep. was pretty well done. And it is on Crunchyroll (most of the series I watch this season were taken by Wakanim/Funi, which is a pity), so I will watch it.

I seriously want to know who is bankrolling this school. I'm assuming an alumni is a now famous DJ and is feeding the school some dough. They not only have all this tech for the classes themselves, but they have what I'm assuming is prograde DJ equipment, lighting, the works. Someone is purposely cultivating the next generation of DJs/performers here

I got to try my hand at DJing back at my college radio station. Wasn't very good at it, but then Vanderbilt University obviously wasn't as well-funded as the school these girls go to.
(Also it was 1984, so you know... analog... But hey, we played all the fresh Duran Duran cuts.) Jungle-girl is a bit too genki for my taste, but I liked Maho enough to come back for a second episode next week. We'll see where things go from there. |

DJing is... still semi-analog at least. Turntables are still pretty standard for EDM and hip hop although nowadays its usually Serato (DJ software) control vinyl as opposed to records. Pioneer seems to be sponsoring here though so its all about their DJ controllers.
I'm not sure how I feel about the music but its fairly catchy anyway. I guess I'll see. |

episode 1:
enjoyed the first episode. I like Rinku's non-stop efforts to ask Rei on how to dj. That's a lot of seashells. lol the animation style reminds me of Bang Dream season 2, which is not bad at all.

episode 2:
I like how Rin and Maho pair with each other.. Maho is good at mixing and the dj stuff, while Rin handles the singing and dancing to the music. Well, that's a lot of people for a first concert. I'm sure they will get more popular once those who enjoyed their show start spreading the word. hmm, looks like the next member is good at drawing. looking forward to next week!

I watched the first episode of this series and wasn't all that impressed, but now that I've learned it's being directed by Mizushima Seiji I might give it another try. Mizushima is the real-world model for the director in Shirobako.

Most of the songs in the anime are not covers. Though, the6y ashowed much less of them than it was in Bang Dream as of now.
