I saw the first episode and it looked promising, Boat racing version of Initial D with a cheesy title, I am sure alot of people would like it.

Maybe that's why. You just saw it and nobody else did. Give them some time; some group is probably already putting some effort into the first release.

The first episode was already released by Shinsen some timeago, so if somebody wants to check this series out, they can. Well, sports anime are often not too popular (This one, that golf anime, various soccer animes :P, exceptions being Ippo and HnG), so there's not really something you can do about it. I for myself thought it was rather crappy though.
