[Manga] Whirlpool
Just a thought as i read through the latest chapter. We found out that Naruto's mother (Uzumaki Kushina) was from the "former" whirlpool country.
obviously, whirlpool was an old water country, that possibly went under a revolution, or was destroyed in some other manner. I theorize that the it transformed into the rain country. and that the internal war going on there right now is between the newer country, and the remnants of the whirlpool country. just to throw it out there, if i am lucky enough to be right, we do know that pain is leading one faction, perhaps he is a remnant of the whirlpool country? the timing with the introduction of this past country, and jiraiya's trip to pain, is too close to be a coincidence really, at least in my mind.  I apologize if there is already a similar thread, i didnt find one.... |

Well.. if the whirlpool was destroyed, it was very likely that the remaining ninja joined different villages.
Maybe Pain wants to take revenge against the world, for destruction of his village or wants to change the world, for a more peaceful one. Strange that Naruto´s mom behaves like him, when she must have suffered much for the destruction of her village. The idea of a Fourth´s gaiden becomes more interesting. |

I too doubt that it's coincidence, considering the style of the Naruto series I would be surprised if the "Whirlpool" relation didn't become a relevant point. The Whirlpool having some relation to the Rain village, and in turn Pein, seems the most likely possibility. Pein leading the remnants of the Whirlpool, as you mentioned, seems perfectly possible.

That's a good point. A reference to the former Whirlpool Country, just after the revelation of the civil wars in Mist, seems like too much to be a coincidence, especially considering the possible family connections with Pein. My theory is that Pein is Kushina's brother, and though she left to be in Konoha with Minato he stayed behind and became involved in the wars.
