The combination of Saori calling herself Saori Bageena and Kyōsuke reaction was just too funny.

The dialogue absolutely made this episode. Kirino and Kuroneko just going at each other... I like the way the conversation pivoted from being about the shows the two of them like into volleys of silly personal insults. It was funny and pretty close to how real arguments go at the same time.

I wasn't so hot on Ayana Taketatsu's performance in the first episode, but I think she and Kana Hanazawa absolutely killed it here.

This is shaping up to be my favorite of the season. It's got a nice balance of realism and comedy, with future drama waiting in the wings as well. And best of all, the potentially creepy aspects are as subdued as they could possibly be.

His reaction was just hilarious. I'm sure anyone not into Gundam would be confused, actually I'm still wondering why the hell Char chose this alias in the first place...

Episode two was very good. The best scene has to be Kuroneko and Kirino arguing about the merits and demerits of their favorite anime genre. I'm not siding with either here. I'm loving Kuroneko though, she's just awesome: "Call yourself Psycho Gundam or Big zam from now on"

Kuroneko was pretty impressive when she started hurling insults

Good job by the VA there. Only complaint I have is Manami got her screentime cut slightly, we don't even see her giving advice to Kyousuke.

& it's Hanazawa Kana again. At least this time she doesn't sound that bad.

While I was watching, I actually thought that the site/forum administrator is a sexual predator of some sort, and that Kyousuke will get a crowning moment of awesome by defending his sister. I guess not.

Spoiler for Episode 2:

A really nice episode, a couple of really funny moments, new interesting characters and great touching moments as well. I can kinda understand what Kirino felt when she can’t reach out despite already being surrounded by people with the same interest, thankfully despite all her quirkiness (Seriously, Saori Bageena? Did she graduate from Osai Gakuen?) she’s pretty perceptive and is a good leader. Kirino is still as rough as usual, but hopefully with new friends she can become a bit more mellow...at least by unleashing it less on his brother and more on her new friend Kuroneko.

Speaking of Kuroneko, she’s a really good foil for Kirino. I usually don’t like to see flame wars between anime fans, but somehow when it’s between two cute girls it’s really interesting to watch. The funniest moment is when they’re shopping afterward, how Meruru doujins is targeted toward adult male and the toys come with clothes off option, and how Maschera’s doujins is full of BL with one of the female clothes availabe for men. I can’t help but see a subtle jab towards Nanoha and Code Geass here, especially with how the guy in Maschera looks and dress very similar to Lelouch...

And I really have to commend Kyousuke here, he’s being a really nice big brother for Kirino. He put up with all her insults, he even went out of his way to play his first game to understand Kirino better, doing his best to make sure Kirino is happy with her friends, even accompanying her all day...Well, I suppose it’s part of a responsibility of an older sibling to help the younger ones, but I just hope that in the future, when he got a problem, Kirino can return all his kindness as well, as it seems really one-sided at this point.

A few other observations:

Wow, the OP is really nice, possibly one of my most favorite of the season.
Haha, spotted some Engrish in the VN at the beginning, ‘progless level’. Btw, just from the potrait alone, which one of the 6 girls will you follow if you’re playing that game? I’ll probably choose the 10% one, or the one on the lower right corner...

Heh. Can't say I understand how Kirino feels because where I'm from practically everyone has a hand in video games, anime, cartoons, and/or other geeky stuff. Well of course you tend to hide the more embarrassing things, but considering that anyone even with a remote access to a PC here has seen the more extreme edges of hentai and probably enjoyed it and has been involved in a MMO game at least once, having "otaku" tendencies is considered a normal thing.

Also...uh... Saori Bagina = Sour Vagina?

Well considering how hold Zeta is, and how I hated everything after ZZ, I really wouldn't have remembered what they called Char Aznable. I'm also assuming that the handle Kuroneko might be a reference to the Black Cat series.

I've also had at least one or two arguments like Kirino and Kuroneko except less venom and about the same series.

Haven't heard Hanazawa in many roles, but she definitely sounded different in Drrrr, compared to Nadeko's supercute jailbait voice.

I'm just sick of her voice really, so i didn't mean to say 'bad'.

Here she just does it right. Plus it helps she's pretty much not in every show i'm watching at the moment.

Ahh, so that's what Bajeena means! I don't follow gundam, so the allusion is completely missed by me, but now that makes perfect sense, as well as the other gundam names...I thought it was just a random (and kinda perverted, I probably will spit take like Kyousuke too if I was drinking) name at first.

About Hanazawa Kana, I think this is the first time I see her say 'bitch'? Well technically it's 'bicchi', but still very unexpected. I guess nothing brings more venom than having your favorite anime insulted, huh Kuroneko?
