In the comic he is depicted as arrogant, jerkish, and makes sarcastic come backs, yes.
But RDJ added irresistible charm to the character in ways the original couldn't, IMO.

Agree with the above posts, RDJ has simply added to the character that is Tony Stark but still rooted and feels like the Tony from the comics.
Also think it help in the movies that the chemistry he has with Miss Potts works sooo brilliantly as well(hats off for Miss Paltrow there too) Now I don't like trailers getting my hopes up and I know I should know better but damn I really can't help but be excited for this(this happens more often than I'd like) Soooooooooo totally looking forward to this!

Mm trailer does look good but the explosions and flying robo-eel thing gives me some Transformers 3 flashbacks - not something I want in regards to this. I hope they focus a bit more on the character interactions and story than trying to one up Mr Bay on the explosion-o-meter.
I also hope Loki isn't just turned into cardboard cutout bad guy, he was awesome in Thor and was somewhat relatable. The little clips he has been in seem to be that he may be the more cerebral size of the story, which is good. Does it seem that Fury is asking for Loki's help at one stage in that trailer? A no doubt temporary alliance but still. Still looks like it should be a good movie.

Seriously though, Black Widow needed a bigger gun.
Give her an assault rifle or something. Something big enough that I could genuinely believe she could use it to defend herself. Even if it wouldn't be enough to actually kill anything alien. And are they going to explain Hawkeye's purple costume? It is only seen once in a poster, and they haven't shown him wearing it in any footage released. Maybe they have scrapped that outfit?

All I can think, while seeing some of the big money shots that the film will provide, is how cool it would have been to see Hank Pym aka Ant-Man/Giant-Man towering above the assembled group getting ready to stomp on some of Loki's flying creatures.
That being said, I thought Natasha was more well known for her Bracelet devices. I wonder why they were taken out of the film? |

Actually, I think I got it wrong. The Hawkeye costume I saw was from a fanmade poster. So it does seem he would skip the mask after all.
Guess there is less justification for a mask, when he is just a government employee.
