Remember that its same for your partner- it is not worth-while for him to backstab you until you both got 6 chips. Earlier he would lost more then earn with killing you. With 3 people team its 5 chips ofc etc etc... Ofc there are some situations where its worth to kill or abandon you earlier- when you are useless partner and teaming with you would take him down or when situation made it too risky for him to help you... But if both of you are valuable partners (like Ryouta and Taira are) then backstabing your partner earlier would be really stupid for both of you... Do you remember LightxL situation in Death Note after they became friends? Its similiar to this, ofc in more realistic and simple way...
No, if it's a pair, you can backstab your partner once both of you get 4 each.
Kill your partner, take his 4, you total 8 and game clear.

That's how it works in Btooom.

In fact you can just do it if you have 7 total crystal between the pair, and rip his out for the eighth.

^So basically...

if it's a 2 person team, you're screwed at 7 total.
if it's a 3 person team you're screwed at 15 total.

or something like..

where n = even number in group

n(raised to nth power) + (n+1) = number of jewels needed to kill one member

where n = odd number in group

n(raised to nth power) + n(n-1) = number of jewels needed to kill one member

*might be a little off but there's an equation to calculate it.*

* in theory, you could be friendly with someone and invite them into your group and then kill him off when the desired jewel number has been reached for the established group.*

Actually, if it is done this way, then Ryouta can go after guys have have killed multiple people. If he kills someone that has already killed 3 people, then he can collect 4 total from the guy. That way, it does not require him to kill as many people, and he is also probably killing someone that really deserves it.

Picking off newbies is safer and having multiple team members mean at some point you have protection.

It's true that picking off newbies is safer, but then again, the guys with more kills are a much more dangerous threat in time. If you can, you try to eliminate the the most dangerous threat to you when you can, or else it could be your undoing.

As for multiple team members, I agree that it is safer if you can fight as a team.

3 member team is optimal to be safe from being picked off by your team members and getting jewels fast.

I wonder how you arrived at those numbers. Perhaps you are thinking too complicated with all those formulae .

if it's a 2 person team, you're potentially screwed at 6 total collected. (yours and your partner's make 8 in all)
if it's a 3 person team you're potentially screwed at 5 total collected. (yours and your partners' make 8 in all)
note: --> a player needs only 8 chips to be saved

Another boring infodump (better then K though) and Himiko disappearing in less then a minute form the screen didn't help much. At least next episode SAwashiro Miyuki is going to play another messed up character... I missed those roles of her, last one should have been Lydia@TearsToTiara 3-4 years ago.

I wanted so much that the main character was a bastard that was collecting members or newbies to kill them all after with a trap instead of this guy that is trying to be nice :/

This episode was not good as the other 2 but it was not so bad either. Expecting great things to happen next episode – that kid seems to be in the right mental state.

The only way to get that green stuff is by acting solo( like the guy that planted the trap) or to pretend that you don’t want to fight. If you fight in order to get those marks, your team members, will kill you before you kill them. Just hope that the fat guy is trying to make this game on the guy – it would be fun like hell to see that happening.

Also the blonde chick is stupid as hell. She was in that airplane and knew the rules, so she should pick up those green stuff ( she would have 3 right now). Since she is young and pretty I can think a couple of actions that would give her the rest of the pieces

The 3rd episode kind of threw me for a loop. I thought for sure it would be something like Sakamoto and Himiko having a quick almost fight by the waterfall and then making a tense alliance, but instead she just runs off immediately and Sakamoto ends up in an alliance with some fat salaryman. The guy seems pretty clever, but I'm not sure if he'll be capable of much when it comes to actually playing the game since we saw how well the last overweight guy did. My guess is D&D kid kills him next episode and Sakamoto struggles with the concept of having to murder a child. Personally I don't think he can do it going by the cues we've gotten from his personality so far so I'm not sure what's to be done next time.

The assumption is that in a 3 member team, 1 gets sacrificed for the good of the survivors as you're only going to be able to sacrifice one person without getting extra grief from the survivor as team trust will go out the window when that happens.

It's not thinking too much. This proves that with a calm and analytical mind you can figure out how many people to put on your team to your advantage. It's math.

You forgot to consider the psychological components and the potential difficulty in getting chips.
5+2 sacrificed + 1 yours = 8 is just as mathematically sound too (and you seem to be ignoring it) .
Collecting 5 chips and betraying 2 may be easier than collecting 13 chips and betraying 1.

Note that I said potentially. It really depends on the trust levels between the people. If there is even a single remote act that generates mistrust in a team of 3, the likelihood of a betrayal goes up as doubt grows in the mind of even 1 person in the team. Throw in the fact that most of those put on the island are also scumbags.

I didn't ignore it. My formula assumes that the remaining team members breaks up after the betrayal and heads for the escape route as fast as they can.

I'm betting that the majority are scumbags. It's easier to cheer their demise that way.

With Sawashiro voicing Kosuke, he's just become my favorite character of the show. Hope he kills a lot of people before the sissy protagonist gets him.

Oh wow, he's pretty good when he gets serious. Also dangerous since he loses sight of what's real and what's not.

...I guess that's the point of this game isn't it? To make people regress to their base instincts and lose track of reality.

As for the boy. He may have had an abusive father, but he is clearly insane. The lawyer guy... Yeah. I respect kind people, but situations like these are their pitfalls and will remain so until the end of time.

Also, "SNACKIES".
