ANN: A stage event at the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival 2015 event revealed on Sunday that Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novel series is inspiring a new anime film. Dengeki Online also began streaming an announcement video on Sunday that highlights the previous entries in the series and reveals the film project.
The film project will be a completely new anime work, and Tomohiko Ito is returning from the two TV anime series and the anime special to direct the film at A-1 Pictures. Shingo Adachi is also returning from the TV anime to design the characters. The anime's official website states that Kawahara is writing a new story for the film.
