I consider it a genre. Let's not nitpick.

It's actually not a genre, and that's not nitpick. Gintama, Bakuman, and One Piece are all belong to what you called "shounen". How would you categorize them as "genre"?

Pointing out something insignificant on a technicality = nitpicking. Obviously anyone who refers to Shounen as a genre does not mean it in the conventional sense of mystery, adventure, or what have you, but is pointing out how the category/demographic has created its own subset of stories in Japanese media and can be considered its own genre in a sense. Now like I said, stop nitpicking. This isn't the place to discuss whether Shounen can be considered a genre or not.

You know, the latest PV makes me look forward to this series' OST very, very much, especially for the BGM that plays in the first part. It just sounds so heroic for some reason

Expected, Btw seems Sunrise very careful in scheduling their project, Unicorn OVA, an Original series with fresh idea (T&B), an established franchise (Gintama), then series with heavy mecha/action flick and last... Gundam's title for "kids".

This can't be just a coincidence.

Well it is a show by sunrise and if there is one thing that I think most people can agree on its that they regularly go all in when it comes to the audiovisual side of things.

@fertygo: I noticed that too. They definetly seem to be trying to win the anime industry so to speak or at least dominate all aspects of it. Don't forget Colorful too as their seinen piece.

It's nice to see a studio stepping up huge for an ailing industry like this and hopefully it works as a jumpstart/pace setter that gets the rest of the industry back on its game and being competitive as opposed to putting all eggs in the adaptation basket.

That would be a pretty accurate way of looking at it, and I certainly hope this will be the case here as well (since I view this show as a spiritual cousin to Scryed).

@ Kaioshin I'm just happy that there is as much variety they are bringing out now, hopefully they maintain this trend for as long as they can rather than just this year.

This thread has been rather lacking in premises, so I translated the summary of the first episode (which is more often than not the premise) from the website. Please account for a margin of error.

Aruma Tandouji, 17 years old. After a certain event in his past, he wanted to keep away from people as much as possible. One day, Wakana Itou, president of the Crystal Club, attempted to recruit him. She also invited him to the museum, but Aruma refuses. Ruri Aiba, CEO of the Aiba Foundation, appears at his home, and tells Alma that he has the power of the Sacred Seven, the only force that can oppose the Ashi, a group of monsters.

^ I think you read the Kanji for the protagonist's surname incorrectly. It should be 'Tanjou', and the katakana for the given name is left unromanized as 'Aruma'.

Thus the margin of error. Will correct now. Though the first name is spelled entirely in katakana, so it could be "Alma".

That's common with a lot of surnames (at least in anime/manga). Like Naruto being spelled entirely in katakana.

It seems to be more geared towards girls than guys from what it seems. Horizons will be the next "Fanservice" anime.

Looks like Tiger & Bunny, but with less gay and more FABULOUS.
The hot-headedness of the MC did remind me of Scryed a bit.
