Go to User CP-->Group memberships (not social groups) on the left hand side...click that and then pick one of those groups listed to be a part of

Select the "User CP" on the left of the navigation bar, then select "Group Memberships" from the column on the left.

Hmm... perhaps people should be allowed to remain ignorant. No harm in having minions serve me coffee and all the other good stuff in hope of earning membership privileges.

Eh nothing in those tags really apply to me, maybe Author to some extent, but I don't really do any of those...
