I think it's still possible to get a 20k average for Railgun- If they're anything like the Index fanbase the gradual drop over the 8 volumes would be slow and stable.

I remember Index II holding up from 18,791 to around17,000 over the 8 volumes.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Vol. 1 (Limited First Pressing)
(BD Total Copies)=14,646
(DVD Total Copies)=2,074
(Total)=16,720

When you compare it to previous Seasons:
Code:
First Week
Anime: (DVD + BD) = Total
Railgun 1: (6,523 + 13,814) = 20,337
Index 1: (5,244 + 6,994) = 12,238
Index 2: (4,749 + 12,721) = 17,470
In first week Railgun sold 20,337, so we have a drop of 3,617 sales.

Code:
Total (2 weeks)
Anime: (DVD + BD) = Total
Railgun 1: (7,910 + 18,976) = 26,886
Index 1: (7,905 + 7,976) = 15,881
Index 2: (5,242 + 13,549) = 18,791
It's selling definitely less and even with the second week, it's not going to rise above +-20k.
But still, really decent sales for anime.
I still feel like this drop in sales really isn't deserved... I am thinking of buying some... even if I don't understand them to make a point... that they are good at least in some people's opinions...

Me too. But since this was amazing, I expected more popularity than season 1...

SS1 is something "new" so more ppl decided to buy I think.
However we should be tolerant.

It was expected, and if you're gona buy some keep in mind they're limited and expensive.

I was going to say why do they think this will make money... Then I paused. I contemplated the universe for a few seconds... And then it came to me...

This is JAPAN we are talking about

Just wondering, has there been any news regarding a new set of the Railgun Archive audio dramas?

Nothing as of yet. With Index II they started releasing them a few months after the anime ended, so may be a little while longer.

Ah, I see. Thanks, relentlessflame.

Speaking of the Archives, where would discussions concerning their plot be held now? (some discussions about them have been here in the past but I wasn't sure whether that would still be the case, seeing as what has happened since then)

Could be discussed here, or we could create a new thread if we want. I guess we'll see when the time comes.

Found the numbers for two weeks of sales for Railgun S Volume 1:
17,731 *2 To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S [DVD+BD]: 2013/07/24

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Vol. 1
(BD Total Copies)=15,657
(DVD Total Copies)=*,***
(Total)=17,731

Beyond this point it is not going to rise too much.
So it definitely sold less than Index 2 and Railgun 1.

Code:
Total
Anime: (DVD + BD) = Total
Railgun 1: (7,910 + 18,976) = 26,886
Index 1: (7,905 + 7,976) = 15,881
Index 2: (5,242 + 13,549) = 18,791
I am curious how will the next Volumes handle it and if it will rise on the anime original part.

that's a bit of a disappointment, i guess being a misaka centered only story didn't satisfy all the railgun and railgun only fans.

It wouldn't rise- There doesn't seem to be a particular episode that would warrant a sudden burst of sales midway.

But at the same time I'm fairly certain that going by past sales of the entire franchise, it shouldn't fall too drastically either so I predict an overall average of maybe just under 16k?

I wouldn't be too sad about Railgun S' sales being a bit lower than Season 1.
There may be a chance for Railgun S to get higher sales figures when the real action started in the Sisters Arc.

I can see it help slowly down the decline, but it's not going to dramatically boost sales.

I bet many (including myself) became fan of Railgun while watching the 1st season with it's bright atmosphere, well-developed 4 main heroines, SOL, heartwarming and perfect happy end. Railgun S brought disappointment to them. And I must mention that the little forced SOL parts felt really out-of-place, making everything even worse, degrading certain characters. Sales shows that many of said fans decided not to buy this season.
