Overall, I guess you can say "class in general". There are just some characters like Itoshiki that happen to appear more often than others. Itoshiki seems to always appear in each chapter, characters like Chiri and Kafuka appear constantly, and characters like Kudou appear occasionally.

Each chapter takes a phrase/word used in Japanese and twists it. An example is like "kimodameshi" (something like that, you know, the event where you try to scare someone), it becomes "kimoidameshi" where instead of something scary, it is something disgusting (thus "kimoi").

something i missed earlire in ep 1 was the refernce to finland (i'm finnish) where it said like having a cavity can lead to being held back a year in finland

Spoiler for Episode 3 new characters and references: First one introduced is Kaere Kimura, who seems to have multiple personalities and has a tendency to sue. The word Kaere in Japanese can be translated to "go home", which is a fitting name for her. Second character introduced is Maria Taro Sekiutsu, who is an illegal resident. She moved from India, along with her family and her companions. She bought a birth certificate of a boy, hence, the weird name. She is poor and loves junk. This character reminds me a bit of Niea and Kaolla Su. The references I have spotted in episode 3: "Ncha!" Arale-chan of Dr. Slump; "Tacchan Minami o Koshien e Tsuretette" - Touch; "Tomo-chan ganba" I'm not sure if this is referring to Tomo-chan of Azumanga; and the previously mentioned Gotenks Dance Fusion while Tsunetsuki and Momoiro-sensei was exercising. The chalkboard alone can entertain me for hours.

But my favorite scene was probably the very last part, when Maria gives examples of how kind the Japanese are. "They say that you are cute when you aren't [picture of a somewhat overweight gaijin gosurori girl] and are kind to small children [picture of a sweaty guy saying "it's ok, I'll be gentle" to a little girl in an alley]."
