I believe George Washington and his pals actually worked that out in advance (Revolutionary War funding issues and then initialization of government issues)... the IRS was just reformulation of that procedure no matter how many extreme views try to argue otherwise. And no, I don't plan to re-debate that anymore than I'll waste time debating Velikovsky versus the rest of science.

49 Mortar bombs fired at civilian towns and cities in one morning is about as close as you get to a declaration of war.
I'm thinking they're trying to get us to hit them back hard, which we're bound to do, as we can't allow for such a situation to remain, and then whine about it to the U.N to try and get a result similar to what you have in Libya.
Hamas is exploiting the fact that world media is busy with.
1)Japan.
2)Libya.
and spiking up the violence because they know that while THEIR actions won't get reported (and they aren't, CNN, BBC, Fox, none report this), the Israeli response WILL be reported.

sad part is, the world's actually stupid enough for this trick to work.

Here's some good news for the Wisconsin unions.

US judge blocks Wisconsin union bargaining law

Hopefully this time, Governor Walker will be more reasonable and respectful to the unions in the negotiating table and the Democrat senators won't run away.

He's on a mission from Go--- um, Koch Industries. Much of the bill reads like a free buffet for his sponsors.

Wait. Exactly HOW MUCH IN A MILLION will that plane come down straight and get stuck like that?

It's not stuck. It's falling but at the exact moment this picture was taken, there was a pole aligned with it in the view, so it looks like the plane is stuck on a pole.

I hope you're wrong. Unions need to be abolished in the Public Sector.

As long as they do it legally and the voters back them on the next election cycle... no matter which way one leans, if you don't follow legal procedure you're probably going to get thumped at some point.

Now if they abolish unions in the public sector... I suppose we could speculate on the future results of that in terms of quality and service - particularly in the first responder fields. And no, you can't just keep replacing "underperformers" or "uppity individuals who want a paycheck that reflects their professional investment" when the investment to BE in various professions is so high and there's a chronic shortage.

In engineering, there's a triangle Cost-Quality-Schedule - moving the dot towards one moves it away from the others .... if you're a manager who believes nine women can collaborate to make a baby in a month for less than the cost of one woman, you're probably going to be disappointed. Hopefully, I don't need to convert that to specific examples.

More info on the Wisconsin situation.

Also, I guess the Obamanation isn't welcome in Rio.

Here's why I used that jibe at Obama.

The Bataan fleet is NOT useful to enforce a "no-fly zone."
It is an Amphibious Assault fleet which is normally used to begin an invasion of a country.

Spoiler for large image of Bataan force:

Apparently they say "The mortar attacks came three days after an Israeli air strike killed two members of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades in Gaza City on Wednesday. Israel said it had targeted a militant training camp in Zeitun."

Does anyone know if this can be confirmed or something?

To put what Gundamfan said into more perspective, nobody sends a gang of leather necked, Jar headed, Marines to enforce a no fly zone.

(do THESE sound like the people you send in when you want to deescalate your involvement?)

Of course, the idea might be that the US only has to
threaten to take our pit bulls off their leash to put Ghadaffi in line.

which is why Obama said no ground troops. if the UN wants ground troops, Europe is going to have to come up with them. This time i hope the EU troops get bullet issue along with their guns.
