That is though question since there isn't much way to know if you will like it or not.
However, if you didn't mind Higurashi, and a possible "cluedo" ambiance, you will most likely like this game, hence worthing the purchase.

Considering the price of it (mere $20 for episode 2) it is vastly worth buying until you pretty much dislike this kind of novel.

$20?

mm.... just shy of £10. not bad.

is this in English?
no wait.

stupid question.

maybe i'll wait for the English patch first. hate using text-hooker or something.

Onizuka could download the Onikakushi segement from Ryukishi07's site and see if he likes that. If they still have that up.

Here's a small thing for you to look at, which is my opinon on the Higurashi visual novel compared to the anime, which may help you.

Pros:
Much better music (in my opinon)
More detailed story.
More clues (so if you like having a better chance at solving it when you go through)

Cons:
No animation, just pictures which change facial expressions, mostly.
Not voice acted (could be considered a pro or con, really, but I just put it in the cons to balance it out)
Probably requires a higher attention span, since it's reading.

Although, that's just with Higurashi, but I'm assuming Umineko will be the about the same way.

Also, I'm on chapter 13 on volume 2, and it so far has pretty much put all my previous theories into a blender, poured in milk, set it to high, blended for 5 minutes, and then drank it.

I've noticed that you keep translating うん as 'Uhm', when I'm pretty sure it should be 'Yeah'. Some of the conversations seem kind of awkward because of this.

I don't think "yeah" suits the image of most of the characters (maybe battler and jessica). Uhm could be used as a sound someone makes in agreement to something, equivalent to our "mhmm".

Uhm doesn't give across the image of agreement at all though. It makes it seem like they're confused, or trying to think of something to say. There is a bit where Rosa gets ticked off at Maria when she answers her with 'Uh' but is perfectly okay when she changes her answer to 'Uhm', which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, seeing as they are nearly the same.

uhm is actually somewhere along the lines of the japanese equivalent to our mhmm, maybe he's so used to hearing it that he thought it was normal for us too. I'm used to hearing it as well so it doesn't bother me.

Well
I thought most of you knew that equivalence hm=yes from watching anime

'yeah' sounds too much 'punkish' for me and I decided to keep at that

well
you understand now

and,
yes
where I live, this sound 'hmm' means 'yes' too

If we translated うん to "Yeah" it would be to, like Ace said, punk

IMO うん is the equivalent to our mhmm but uhm is just as good.

But Ace could I request that you translate Maria's うー to "uu" instead of "uh" it's what we're putting in Episode 1 and it will save Klash some time so he doesn't have to go and change it. (Also when I asked my old Japanese teacher he said that uu would be better)

starting from chapter 9 I'll do that

right now I'm the middle of chapter 8 and I don't feel like changing now

Just a little update on the Beta Patch/Onscripter issues

So, I think it's in everyone's best interest for me to take care of these fixes first.

I plan on getting onscripter to a state of "works well enough for English translations" and then do a beta release with that version. Hopefully I'll be done with it shortly

Let the slaughter begin huh...

Seriously, it was extremely graphic even if it was only by text. Ryukishi sure was mad and detailed enough, and I didn't feel quite "healthy" with the descriptions and such.
Truely effective, and Beato's taunt was... plain evil and atrocious.
It gave me quite the "OMFG" reaction, and it is as gruesome as Rika's death in higu...

Be it witch or human culprit, it is really horrifying, and the truth will be quite a shocker i guess.

And since I spoiled myself before, by fastforwarding the game to the epilogue, I feel like the "bite" thing will be "URRRH"...

"URRRH"...? I don't get it.

Well even though this scene was grusome...

IMO It doesn't match the torture Beato invokes on the people chosen as the sacrifices of the second twilight.
