And i said .. that u can leave any rank if u want (chunin, jounin, anbu, hokage).. like Jiraiya did!

Then u r talking about Jiraiya have legendary sanin rank or whatever and u explain something without any reason becouse he dont have Konoha rank so he leaved them..

Which i said that jiraiya left his ranks chunin, jounin .. so that mean u can leave

ANBU is no rank... this is explained by Kakashi in Volume 2 Chapter 2 page 6

Im telling you ANBU isnt a rank thats what im getting at if you couldnt already tell.
I wouldnt acknowledge ANBU being a rank because quite simply it isnt.
You wouldnt want to leave any proper rank because there would be a downfall mainly being degraded to taking low class missions all the time, seeing as ANBU isnt a proper rank there isnt a downfall if you leave which is why people like Kakashi do.

Ranks are for those who work under their villages Hokage and since Jiraiya doesnt anymore he doesnt have an official rank. If he were to go back to serving Konoha's Hokage he would have the same official rank he left with meaning he didnt drop a rank but it was more like his former rank was ineffective while he wasnt in service to the hokage. He would still have his same former rank which was probably Jounin but he would just be reffered to as a legendary sannin, just like Jounin in ANBU are reffered to as ANBU...this doesnt mean that it is a rank it is just a title like Jiraiyas.

Basically if your saying ANBU is a rank then with that logic Sannin is also a rank which is also wrong.

Hmm .. ok this is last time i will try to convince u that ANBU is rank and that ANBU even have ranks.

It is said that Itachi was ANBU captain/leader so that mean they have ranks ..
Also there is special training for NE ANBU which also mean that NE is ANBU rank too ..
Also when Zabuza was "killed" Haku showed as ANBU. When Kakashi saw him he didnt argue with Haku when Haku said that he will take Zabuza body, becouse he was dressed like ANBU Kakashi knew that ANBU work direct under Hokage, and that would be like arguing with someone who is superior then your rank even becouse it is ANBU it was like arguing or disobedience Hokage.

By saying "ranks are for those who work under their villages Hokage" this doesnt mean ANBU is a rank, I was referring to Jiraiya not having a rank because he doesnt fall under that category, many people work under the Hokage like medical teams and decoders and the ANBU however those aren't ranks....they are factions under the Hokage from which people with ninja ranks may enter. There are only 3 ranks under the Hokage which are Genin, Chuunin and Jounin.

There maybe ranks within ANBU like squad leader but this doesnt mean ANBU is a rank itself, It's just like how Gennin, Chuunin and Jounin are Ninja ranks but Ninja itself isnt a rank.

ANBU you still have an official ninja rank.

I thought I read that in a Data Book or something like that... but perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me. But that doesn't change the fact that ANBU consists of Chuunin, Jounin and Special Jounin and is no rank. It is an organisation under the direct control of Hokage.

For the most parts that is correct, exception to recent unveiling of Anbu “Roots”. Since from the way things look “Roots” although are Anbu are not under the Hokage’s control. It seems that they are under Danzou’s control.

Hmm as i see it .. Ibiki is not ANBU, he is Special Jounin who is captain of ANBU squad for torture and interrogation. He command ANBU only for torture and interrogation, becouse he is specialist for that, and only one who control ANBU is Hokage .. even tho Ibiki control ANBU squad for etc, he is still Special Jounin and not ANBU.

Yes it consist of chunins, jounins, special jounins, elite jounins, but once they enter ANBU they loose their ranks, names and they r ANBU .. till they dont leave ANBU. Like when Yamato or Sai left .. they got their names and their ranks and Sai never was in Academy ..

If we have to trust wikipedia who dont have anything with kishi or manga .. then i would say that ANBU is organisation and that ANBU is not rank, and there is only ranks in ANBU .. but i hardly can believe that wiki is so truthfull in this matter.

EDIT: Yes second group of ANBU is NE ANBU (Roots) which is in command of Danzou (who created it on his own will).. but still i think Hokage can control them too ..

If Ibiki is ANBU he would wear mask .. also read again chapter 43 page 5 where Asuma say that Ibiki is Special Jounin.
