This topic reminds me, I need to buy more Yamazaki 12 Years. Was my drink of choice in all the Yakuza games and then one day I actually saw it in a store IRL and HAD to try it. It's great stuff but sadly it's really hard to find around here. (It's also the only thing that actually made Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai from last season watchable for me.)

I will agree with your first part though, it seems like a lot of marketing and advertising.
I'd say the above is true for a lot of things. When I was a child I hated the taste of coffee and tea, anything bitter really, but as you get older your palette changes. I typically don't enjoy beer that much, but when I'm eating yakitori I drink my Asashi Super Dry (or preferably Kirin .. )! After (trying and failing badly at) skiing a good beer is excellent and refreshing! Recently I've been into classic cocktails again: Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Moscow Mule, Gin Fizz, Pisco Sour, Whiskey Sours.. They're a bouquet of complex flavours which change also depending on the particular brand of alcohol used..

PS: A classic gin & tonic tastes incredibly different when using Hendrick's Gin and a bit of mint, goes down so easy that it's criminal

Reply hazy.. *hic* ..very hazy

Just only woke up from a 12+ hours long rest after an accident that got my head. Fortunately it was nothing really serious though.

Since it was a head injury, are you sure it was just a "rest" and not a coma brought on by cranial trauma?

Surprised you were out for roughly half a day if it was nothing serious though. I'd classify "nothing serious" as you not being knocked out cold at all.

Everyone here likes drinking eh? As for me I'll be that middle aged man at the bar ordering a Coca-Cola or a Shirley Temple.

By the way it snowed here today, anyone else get snow?

I'd love to. It's been 8 years since the last time I saw snow.

You can have the snow we have here. We don't want it.

Got snow in Connecticut. I was hoping for class cancellation today, disappointing.

Neither do I.

I may be planning a Japan trip next year, somewhere in August, October, or December. Who's in?

People still seem to consider Buffalo the "snow capital" of the US despite getting very little the past several years and even breaking records for high temperatures and low snowfall last year while the rest of the state got hit hard. Fine by me though, the commute to work with snow on the ground is the worst. You people who have never seen snow are not missing anything.

Like they say, too much of anything is bad. I've only touched snow a couple of times when I was in the US. That was 10 years ago.

As for hail, I have experienced it once or maybe twice when I was a kid. I'm in a tropical country so it's really rare.

You guys should be happy you don't have to deal with snow. It's fun when you're a kid but otherwise, it's a big hassle.

Forecast says it will snow tomorrow... they estimate there'll be 20cm of snow. I wish I could avoid going outside at times like these.

I still like snow, even as I grow older. And as for now it cancels school and makes the bleak winter scenery scenic. I can understand it being a hassle though if you've gotta walk through the stuff to get to work, and slipping on ice isn't funny anymore. But I'd rather have snow than nothing or the winter season's boring. We haven't gotten that much up here in CT in recent years.
