Kotono really hit the Birdy role perfectly. The first OVA is definitely worth a watch just to see her in the role.

That's really too bad. I thought Kotono Mitsuishi was perfect as Birdy. Weird that she didn't have more roles. Natsuki Kuga as Birdy.. hmm. Let's see how that's going to word out. She doesn't sound anything like Kotono Mitsuishi.

Is she semi retire? I don't think she done much since GS/GSD ended and while she is reprising her role as Misato in the Eva movies. Is she doing anything else lately?

That's only one version of her, and one I doubt she'll take. She's got an extremely wide vocal range. As a simple example, I can point out Dokuro in Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan and Chika in Ichigo Mashimaro (the latter was, IMO, one of her best roles).

She was in Claymore, she was in La Cazador de la Bruja, she does plenty of roles these days.

Personally, I don't really care. I like her voice acting, but I am not so madly in love that I wouldn't accept anyone else. If they want to replace her with a perky idol type who'll double as a theme song performer (probably, you know it will happen), they can go ahead.

Saeko Chiba isn't half bad a choice. *shrugs*

I don't recall hearing her lovely voice in Claymore. It's not that I really mind the change of VA's, but why do it when Mitsuishi was great.
Edit: after reading that she voiced Jean, I remember.

@wonderingknight, haven't seen those 2 animes, but it looks like she's done a lot of different roles. When I see her name, I automatically associate it with Natsuki.

Anyway the remake has gotten a official title: Birdy the Mighty Decode

LOL, so, Ryotimo has now "gone legit" and is credited under his real name, Ryosuke Sawa?

Aww, I kinda liked it when he just had a handle. It made him seem to rogue, so Internet-generation. 8)

When Doraemon made wholesale cast changes in 2005, Mitsuishi Kotono became the new voice actress for Nobita's mother.

Hmm I read a synopsis for it. Doesn't sound like much but i'll give it a go. Especially if Ryo Chimo is actually animating on the show as well.

Uh... it's only reported as Ryosuke Sawa on ANN's article (the official site still shows Ryotimo) and anyway, he's gone as Sawa previously too (Aquarion and others iirc). Maybe it's a bigger deal that he's doing character design rather than just animation/animation direction.

Anyway, as usual, hopes up blah blah waiting for more information etc.

I think I"ll have to keep a Moonphase tab permanently open in Firefox for the next few weeks or I'll entirely forget to watch this (and others), I think. Almost forgot Gag Manga Biyori 3 the other time
