Well the trailer looked neat, all depends on the story (not TOO retread) and tone (will it do anything different?) though could be pretty good or pretty mediocre.

Animation is awesome as expected as is Mamoru Miyano's acting.

I don't really see any difference between the manga and animation design. It's cleaner and smoother in the manga because of the wonderful toning that creates an almost superflat impression, but that's something hard to keep in transition to animation unless Stardriver is directed by say, Hosoda. In other aspects, the art looks very concise to the animation style in my opinion.

But really, only one thing came to mind when reading the Stardriver chapter.

Really, the animation design was so Bakuman Obata-ish to begin with, the manga makes it feel even more so since the style reflects what is 'implied and mentioned' so much of Mashiro's drawing style from the very realistic style ( atmosphere ), the heavy application of dark colours and tones, among other things.

I wouldn't go the other run to so far and say that Stardriver's story feels very Takagi-ish, but it definitely wouldn't feel out-of-place if it existed alongside Crow, Natural+. Heck, I'd actually say the flamboyant costume designs is more of Niizuma's stick.

My goodness, that has to be the worst Aqua Timez song used in an anime I've heard so far. I was gonna say perhaps the audio quality of the vid played a part but the way the singer drags the end of the lines during the verses is horrid and sounds lifeless. The song would have been alright if it weren't for- scratch that, I just got to the 3:00 mark, what the hell is that shit.

Really hoped that the TV version is slightly better than this one along with the animation sequence...that's where Bones usually excel for but not the song itself
