I agree with Botan_TM that the author is mixing periods and the setting is neither pure WW1 nor WW2.

Pretty much that. Besides, we had in the manga and LN journalists who were researching this war because of how Tanya and her Unit were blacked out in every document of like every country. And they always only talked about "the world war", they never said the first world war or anything like that, meaning in this world a second world war never happened.

The World War is sui generis itself, taking element from both but the setting itself is the first one, inmendiatly to the causes(the tension and the rivalty wanting to be the primus intra pares, not archduke needed to be killed here) and the rest have been a fine anime...the waiting is killing me,xd.

Well, I guess the Author didn't change the design so that people will not Waifu Tanya, but change the design so that no matter what fanservice the studio try to release out of the only two female or 1 true female, with 1 artificial female, it would only look horrifying instead and kill the fans dreams.

That's just the depressing reality we need to live with (until i get my hands on mind control satellites).
It's one of the things that i really hate about anime/light novel/manga fandom, and which makes it really hard to find decent stuff to watch/read.

I applaud the author for not using fanservice, but attempts to stop people trying to make a female character into a waifu were doomed to fail.
