The doors of Storm Raider slam down, revealing Fate in her black Enforcer uniform. Whatever fears she had, she pushed it aside. This was her song.
And so, lights flashing and beams bursting, the blonde Enforcer stepped up and struck out.

As the music dulled, Fate unleashed a blinding glow as yellow mana enveloped her frame. Her movements slowed and suggested; the black outer jacket dissolved; a wave of hoots swept the floor. Magical bubbles sprang from Ace to Ace to Forward; the cheers got louder. And Fate started into a twirl, her skirt dissolving from the hems.

“No,” the blonde countered. “What about Nanoha-chan, Fate-chan and Hayate-chan? They’ve all seemed rather tired recently. Haven’t you heard Nanoha-chan complain at school about back pains? We need to find out what they are up to and help them with whatever we can.” the blonde spoke, determination oozing out of her voice. She wasn’t going to give up on the idea.
“But we… we should trust them. If something is happening we should just wait… and I’m sure they would come to us to help them. We are their friends.“ Deep inside however, Suzuka knew that her friend Arisa wouldn’t be content with just waiting. She didn’t like to be left out of anything. The angry expression on her face only served into confirming her thought. Sighing, the purple haired teenager decided to go along with her friend, just this time. She knew the blond too well. “I’m guessing you have a plan?”
“Naturally!”

“I put it under the bed while Nanoha-chan was out of the room bringing me a glass of water,“ Arisa smiled mischievously as she sat next to her companion in spying. The blonde took out of her bag a box shaped object and placed it on the floor.
“Now let’s see what Nanoha is doing now at this late time.” With that, the girl pressed the ON button on the device. At first, there was static, then voices began to be heard, not exactly clearly. There was static between words and it was hard to distinguish sometimes what they were saying.
“Nanoha?”
“Ah, Yuuno-kun. Welcome.” Nanoha’s voice could be heard the clearest, so the two girls presumed she was the closest to the bed. Soon, Hayate and Fates voice joined in, but could be heard slightly muffled compared to Nanohas.
“Shall we get this going?”
“Will Vita-chan be joining us tonight?”
“No, she said she couldn’t tonight, had to go on a mission with Signum. Also, Shamal told me again that she doesn’t really approve of this. She says it’s not really healthy how much time we spend at it.”
“Nyahaha, that’s Shamal-san for you.”
“I told her that if she wants to join in, she can always come and see how fun it is. Maybe just watch us for a night.”
“But it’s not as if we’re doing anything bad.”
“Most teenagers our age do it.”
“That was the reason we started as well.”

“Ugh, this doesn’t prove anything! What can a little more do?” Arisa shouted annoyed pressing the ON button once again.
At first, it was all quiet, just some clashing sounds as if objects were getting hit together. Then a quite peculiar sound could be heard, like a sort of melodic ringing. It was the kind of sound that one wouldn’t expect to hear normally in a room and not the kind of sound that four people would normally do to entertain themselves. Then, Hayate’s amused voice shouted clearly:
“Who the heck levels up in the middle of a battle?!?”

Denial.
With a thrust of her right arm she swung the disk away to a side of a room. She couldn’t bear the sight of it anymore. It reminded it of the dreadful message that it contained. She hated it. Moving away, her left hand swiped against the expensive vase standing on a table near the couch. She propelled it to the ground, where it shattered into tiny pieces.
Anger.
If only… if only it had been somebody else. Looking around at her house she realized that all her inherited fortune would amass for nothing. No amounts of wealth could bring her back. She would be willing to give everything, even ten times more, just to bring her friend back. She would go anywhere; do about any task asked of her, just to turn back time or to make her able to help the person that she cared so much about – as that person had helped her in the past. Absolutely anything.
Bargaining.
She had been left alone – that simple truth haunted her. Her friend had abandoned her. What had she done to deserve this? It was painful. Tears flew freely now, tears of sadness, of despair. She took a seat on the couch and curled into a ball to ward away the outside world.
Depression.
Yet, she slowly realized: Nanoha had abandoned her long ago. Ever since she had met Yuuno and revealed her magical potential, Suzuka and she had ceased having an important role in her life. They would have always been there for support, but Nanoha, although never consciously, didn’t need them. Nanoha had done her role in their life, had helped her become a better person, and then the time had come for her to move on and help others. It was selfish for Arisa to wish for Nanoha to have remained with them forever. It was destiny at work.
And the most important fact of all: she, Arisa Bannings, was not alone. She still had Suzuka, who had always been there for her whenever she needed her.
Acceptance.
Taking the picture from the top of the fireplace she looked at the faces of her friends. In the middle stood Nanoha, surrounded by Fate on the left and Hayate on the right. Nanoha’s smile was large enough to touch the heavens. That was the way the blonde would always remember her friend.
A cold breeze came as the storm outside knocked open a window. The light wind picked up the picture from her hand and slowly pushed it into the open fireplace. At first slow, then quicker, he flames began enveloping the picture.

The Lyrical Times
It's hot off the presses guys the latest gossip and it can only be found right here in the pages of The Lyrical Times, your source for the latest in IRC news.
This afternoon or morning or night depending on your location a decision was finally reached in the on going love triangle between Wanwan1203, Nictory and Naolin. Originally it was just Wanwan and Naolin, who are both the mothers of local FFTer Nikki the Cat who was recently wed to TeleIce, but Nictory soon came into the picture. Then Naolin due to real life issues disappeared into the night (due to real life technical difficulties) and in desperation Nictory threw His/herself at Wanwan. Wanwan refused the person of ambiguous gender.
All was fine in the FFC until Naolin returned today (or yesterday depending on where you are), Wanwan was still absent and Nictory needed a way to apologize to Naolin for his/her wandering eyes a way that involved seducing, albeit with permission, the fanfiction writer. Just as they were about to do something not appropriate for our younger reader's eyes, Wanwan reentered the scene blissfully oblivious to what had happened due to lacking backlog.
TheShinySword who had seen the entire event informed Wanwan of the happenings due to Naolin's inability to rip off the band-aid. Wanwan quietly accepted the events but Naolin insisted that she still liked Wanwan and apologized. Then came decision time, despite the fact the polygamy is the ultimate solution for many things (like Nanoha pairings), Naolin knew she had to pick one she just didn't know which one. She'd poured the rest of her water bottle on her head as Elio had gotten to his third question, and had debated, seriously, taking off her shirt at the seventh.
Still, she was a good role model and Elio and Caro were very much like her children. She struggled to take good care of them with a work schedule that was far better suited to someone who was either forty and divorced, or just starting out in life and single. She was neither and wanted nothing to do with becoming either of those two options; for Fate was quite accomplished with her life. She put up with the questions with the patience and practice that many parents do not acquire until their children are long out of the house all together.
Eventually, though, they left her, and Fate made her way across the section's large green towards her apartments. She wanted a shower, for the day seemed to only be getting hotter as the hours wore on.
From her pocket, Bardiche beeped shrilly, "Sir, your internal temperature is comparable to the outside temperature. It is suggested that you find some way of cooling yourself."
She smiled and nodded, "I will, Bardiche." The day was hot enough to make her blood boil and all that she could think about was filling the bathtub with cool water and relaxing with the late edition of Mid's newspaper and catching up with the events of the world that she called home.
The air conditioning hit her like a gunshot as soon as she walked into her building and she shivered as the slight sheen of sweat across her forehead suddenly cooled and prickled on her skin. She was grateful for the change of temperature, but the accompanying chill made her feel feverish and that was something that Fate was quite positive that she was not.
She hated being sick anyway, for Nanoha worried about her and Vivio spent all her time at school telling her teachers about how 'Fate-mama' was sick and her mom was stuck at home taking care of her while Vivio still had to go to 'stinkin' school.' It was adorable, but the subsequent phone call home was never worth it.
Takamachi Vivio was quite opinionated for a girl of the appearance of a seven year old.
Fate pushed open the door to her apartment with a tired sigh and wearily gave a half-hearted, "I'm home," to the apartment at large. It was an old habit that she'd picked up on Earth, and she'd never been able to break it - no matter how western a world like Mid Childa was.
"Fate-chan!" Nanoha called from the direction of their bedroom. "Guess what?"
Fate closed her eyes. Please let it be something that can wait until after my shower.
"What?"
"There's going to be a lightning storm tonight. It's been all over the news." Nanoha announced happily. She had moved to come and stand in the doorway that separated their main living area from the kitchen, and Fate could not help the smile the blossomed across her face with the news.
"Vivio's never seen one." She said quietly. "Do you think she'll want to watch?"
Nanoha nodded, smiling brightly. "Un. She knows you love them, since you tell her about the ones on earth all the time. It'll be good for her to see one." She moved forward and was about to wrap her arms around Fate when she stopped, her nose wrinkled. "You're all wet."
Fate blushed. She had taken the comment out of context, but the implication was still there. "Yes," she muttered, looking at her feet. "Signum and I sparred after your training session."
"In this heat?" Nanoha frowned. "You need to go take a shower and cool out before you pass out because you've got heat stroke."
Fate nodded. "Will you still be around when I get out?" Their schedules were so different that they rarely saw each other during the day.
Nanoha grinned, "Yup, you can come up and tell me all about your adventures sparring with Signum then."
"Thanks." Fate smiled and leaned in, kissing Nanoha's cheek.
"Ewwww, Fate, you smell."
Fate laughed.
It's nine million degrees outside. Fate does not approve.
Nice! Of course Fate likes lightning storms. I personally find them very cool to watch, albeit dangerous.

“I put it under the bed while Nanoha-chan was out of the room bringing me a glass of water,“ Arisa smiled mischievously as she sat next to her companion in spying. The blonde took out of her bag a box shaped object and placed it on the floor.
“Now let’s see what Nanoha is doing now at this late time.” With that, the girl pressed the ON button on the device. At first, there was static, then voices began to be heard, not exactly clearly. There was static between words and it was hard to distinguish sometimes what they were saying.
“Nanoha?”
“Ah, Yuuno-kun. Welcome.” Nanoha’s voice could be heard the clearest, so the two girls presumed she was the closest to the bed. Soon, Hayate and Fates voice joined in, but could be heard slightly muffled compared to Nanohas.
“Shall we get this going?”
“Will Vita-chan be joining us tonight?”
“No, she said she couldn’t tonight, had to go on a mission with Signum. Also, Shamal told me again that she doesn’t really approve of this. She says it’s not really healthy how much time we spend at it.”
“Nyahaha, that’s Shamal-san for you.”
“I told her that if she wants to join in, she can always come and see how fun it is. Maybe just watch us for a night.”
“But it’s not as if we’re doing anything bad.”
“Most teenagers our age do it.”
“That was the reason we started as well.”

The two girls had to get closer to each other to hear clearly as more sounds had started getting heard over their voices. Sounds like things moving, footsteps or of things clashing.

Arisa promptly pressed the OFF button on the device. Suzuka and she couldn’t say a single word as they looked at each other. They couldn’t quite imagine what their four friends were doing in Nanoha’s room at that time. They just knew they could probably now look at them in the same way the following day.
“Ugh, this doesn’t prove anything! What can a little more do?” Arisa shouted annoyed pressing the ON button once again.
At first, it was all quiet, just some clashing sounds as if objects were getting hit together. Then a quite peculiar sound could be heard, like a sort of melodic ringing. It was the kind of sound that one wouldn’t expect to hear normally in a room and not the kind of sound that four people would normally do to entertain themselves. Then, Hayate’s amused voice shouted clearly:
“Who the heck levels up in the middle of a battle?!?”

Her body shook slightly as she took the disk containing the video mail into her hand. Warm tears began falling from the blonde’s eyes. No. No. No. This couldn’t be happening. It wasn’t true. It couldn’t… it was impossible. Arisa kept screaming those words in her mind. No. No. No. Repeating it all over. It couldn’t be true.
Denial.
With a thrust of her right arm she swung the disk away to a side of a room. She couldn’t bear the sight of it anymore. It reminded it of the dreadful message that it contained. She hated it. Moving away, her left hand swiped against the expensive vase standing on a table near the couch. She propelled it to the ground, where it shattered into tiny pieces.
Anger.
If only… if only it had been somebody else. Looking around at her house she realized that all her inherited fortune would amass for nothing. No amounts of wealth could bring her back. She would be willing to give everything, even ten times more, just to bring her friend back. She would go anywhere; do about any task asked of her, just to turn back time or to make her able to help the person that she cared so much about – as that person had helped her in the past. Absolutely anything.
Bargaining.
She had been left alone – that simple truth haunted her. Her friend had abandoned her. What had she done to deserve this? It was painful. Tears flew freely now, tears of sadness, of despair. She took a seat on the couch and curled into a ball to ward away the outside world.
Depression.
Yet, she slowly realized: Nanoha had abandoned her long ago. Ever since she had met Yuuno and revealed her magical potential, Suzuka and she had ceased having an important role in her life. They would have always been there for support, but Nanoha, although never consciously, didn’t need them. Nanoha had done her role in their life, had helped her become a better person, and then the time had come for her to move on and help others. It was selfish for Arisa to wish for Nanoha to have remained with them forever. It was destiny at work.
And the most important fact of all: she, Arisa Bannings, was not alone. She still had Suzuka, who had always been there for her whenever she needed her.
Acceptance.
Taking the picture from the top of the fireplace she looked at the faces of her friends. In the middle stood Nanoha, surrounded by Fate on the left and Hayate on the right. Nanoha’s smile was large enough to touch the heavens. That was the way the blonde would always remember her friend.
A cold breeze came as the storm outside knocked open a window. The light wind picked up the picture from her hand and slowly pushed it into the open fireplace. At first slow, then quicker, he flames began enveloping the picture.
Ablaze.
Burning.
Vanishing.

I should have read the angst before I read the humor. I love them both though. Very nice job. I like how you brought in Arisa and Suzuka. Two people we do not see a lot of. Arisa FTW! Anyways, angst was sad, but at least she has Suzuka.

The Lyrical Times
It's hot off the presses guys the latest gossip and it can only be found right here in the pages of The Lyrical Times, your source for the latest in IRC news.
This afternoon or morning or night depending on your location a decision was finally reached in the on going love triangle between Wanwan1203, Nictory and Naolin. Originally it was just Wanwan and Naolin, who are both the mothers of local FFTer Nikki the Cat who was recently wed to TeleIce, but Nictory soon came into the picture. Then Naolin due to real life issues disappeared into the night (due to real life technical difficulties) and in desperation Nictory threw His/herself at Wanwan. Wanwan refused the person of ambiguous gender.
All was fine in the FFC until Naolin returned today (or yesterday depending on where you are), Wanwan was still absent and Nictory needed a way to apologize to Naolin for his/her wandering eyes a way that involved seducing, albeit with permission, the fanfiction writer. Just as they were about to do something not appropriate for our younger reader's eyes, Wanwan reentered the scene blissfully oblivious to what had happened due to lacking backlog.
TheShinySword who had seen the entire event informed Wanwan of the happenings due to Naolin's inability to rip off the band-aid. Wanwan quietly accepted the events but Naolin insisted that she still liked Wanwan and apologized. Then came decision time, despite the fact the polygamy is the ultimate solution for many things (like Nanoha pairings), Naolin knew she had to pick one she just didn't know which one. After a very very very very very very long time that included a forth party trying to weasel in, a gender revelation and Tila Tequila Naolin finally made a choice but what choice was that.... you'll have to stay tuned to find out in moment.

I love that you do this TSS. Otherwise I would have no idea whats going on. I'm to busy to go on IRC. That was dramatic. Like very. At the end though, I just couldn't help but feel bad for Wanwan. That really cool speech she made about not getting angry and stuff. That was so key. BTW, I love the little Nanoha shorts at the end.
You know, I was kinda wondering why in AU stories Nanoha is always the shy, uncertain girl and Fate is always the aggressive sexual deviant.
Anyway, random drabble I thought up while thinking about what their personalities were like. Actually ended up being more about their motivations, but w/e.
Nanoha training woes.

The trainees dragged themselves slowly up the stairs back to base to hit the showers, having just finished morning practice. This group was coming along nicely. I’d only had them for a week, but they were all really shaping up. Another week and I could probably start advanced training. Of course, there was always one problem in every group. Looking up, I saw her lagging behind everyone else, as she had been for the last four days.
Actually, she’d been called a child prodigy by her previous instructors. Thirteen years old and a fully licensed C rank mage, capable of showing up everyone else she’d been trained with. They had expected great things from her (though not as great as my accomplishments, they’d been quick to add). I think those expectations were starting to get to her, though. She looked completely worn out all the time, even after she’d just woken up, and her fatigue had been affecting her performance. Something told me that she was overexerting herself and doing extra training.
“Can I talk to you a moment,” I asked, walking over to her.
“S-Sir…I mean Ma’am!”
“Just Nanoha is fine.”
She must be really tired to not even notice me approaching her. She was looking at me intently, eyes full of worry. It looked like she’d burst into tears at any moment. I didn’t think I was that scary.
“Have a seat; I just want to ask a question.”
We both sat on the stair steps, but she still looked just as anxious as before. Then, before I could even ask anything, she already started to answer.
“…I’m not cut out for this…am I?”
“Huh?”
“I can’t keep up with everyone; I’m not learning this stuff fast enough. I can tell, I’m just dragging everyone down with me. Maybe I should just quit…”
“…is this why you’ve been staying up late to train?”
She suddenly looked sheepish, having obviously thought that I didn’t know.
“You know, overworking yourself can do a lot more harm than you think. Trust me, I know.”
“But, everyone’s expecting me to do so well! If I don’t try my hardest, if I don’t keep pushing myself, I’ll let everyone down!”
“Is that why you became a mage?”
“What?”
“Because it was expected of you? Is that the only reason you’re doing this?”
She looked away from me, staring at her feet.
“Ne, do you know about the Jewel Seed Incident?”
“Of course! It’s almost legendary! You were only nine years old without any magical contact at all, but you still managed to single handedly seal the missing Lost Logia, and defeated the enemy mage who became the TSAB’s youngest enfor…”
She trailed off, suddenly blushing furiously as she realized what she’d started gushing over. It was kinda cute, seeing her so animated like that. It had taken some years, but I’d finally gotten used to being a hero figure for the rookies.
“Did you know that the first time that mage and I met, she beat me?” I said, knowing that the TSAB didn’t have full documentation of events before Lindy and Chrono had arrived.
“Eh?!”
I couldn’t help but laugh softly. Her expression upon hearing that her hero had been beaten was priceless.
“Nyahaha. Yup, she beat me. Several times, and badly, too. But I kept standing up, time and time again, and eventually I was able to beat her. Do you know why?”
She looked weary now, probably thinking I was just trying to tell her not to give, to keep working hard; that I expected great things from her too.
“I didn’t care about being stronger, or being better than her. I didn’t even care about saving the world. I just wanted to face her as an equal, to be able to look her in the eye and understand her sadness, even if it was just for a moment.”
I reached out and put a hand on her shoulder to show my support.
“So, don’t do this for anyone else, ne? Don’t keep pushing yourself for everyone else’s sake. Find your own reason. If you do that, you can be as strong as you have to be.”
She looked up at me and smiled; a genuine smile. It was nice thing to know, that I’d helped her out. Even if it was just a little.
Breaking through the sadness in their hearts and finding the smiles they never knew existed. That is my wings. That is my hope. My name is Takamichi Nanoha.
And Mother!Fate with minor Vivio angst.

Vivio wasn’t a hard girl to read. When she was happy her smile would never break, she’d keep up a constant stream of chatter and she could never sit still. When she was sad she’d cry rivers until me or Nanoha hugged her tightly, and then she’d be happy in an instant again. So, when she climbed into my car after school and sat silently, staring at the floor, I knew something had made her very upset. Stretching over I pulled her towards me, wrapping my arms around her.
When she didn’t return the hug or try to squirm her way out of it I realized that it was something bad.
“Tell Fate-mama what’s wrong, Vivio.”
She pushed herself deeper against me for answering.
“Fate-mama, is Vivio not a real person?”
I stiffened slightly. Was this what she was so upset about, being an artificial mage? Who would have said something like this to her?
“Of course you are, Vivio. You were just born in a different way.”
That didn’t seem to comfort her much. Then again, it didn’t really comfort me either, when I’d heard it.
“If Vivio isn’t real…does that mean Fate-mama and Nanoha-mama’s love is fake?”
This made sense now. I’d remembered thinking the same things once. For me, though, my mother’s love was false. It wasn’t the same for Vivio, it would never be the same. I held her tighter, stroking her hair calmly.
“Vivio, do you know why people are born? It’s to be found.”
“Found?”
“Yes. Everyone has a person that can make them smile, who will hold them close and make them happy, and people are born just so that person can find them. Vivio was born just so Fate-mama and Nanoha-mama could find her.”
She was hugging me back now, and I kept holding her and stroking her hair.
“And you know, Fate-mama and Nanoha-mama are just the same. We were born just to be found by Vivio.
To be strong for the people dear to me, to protect them so they never feel the pain I felt. To stop my past from ever being repeated. This is my future. This is my wish. I am Fate Testarossa Harlaown.

This afternoon or morning or night depending on your location a decision was finally reached in the on going love triangle between Wanwan1203, Nictory and Naolin. Originally it was just Wanwan and Naolin, who are both the mothers of local FFTer Nikki the Cat who was recently wed to TeleIce, but Nictory soon came into the picture. Then Naolin due to real life issues disappeared into the night (due to real life technical difficulties) and in desperation Nictory threw His/herself at Wanwan. Wanwan refused the person of ambiguous gender.
All was fine in the FFC until Naolin returned today (or yesterday depending on where you are), Wanwan was still absent and Nictory needed a way to apologize to Naolin for his/her wandering eyes a way that involved seducing, albeit with permission, the fanfiction writer. Just as they were about to do something not appropriate for our younger reader's eyes, Wanwan reentered the scene blissfully oblivious to what had happened due to lacking backlog.
TheShinySword who had seen the entire event informed Wanwan of the happenings due to Naolin's inability to rip off the band-aid. Wanwan quietly accepted the events but Naolin insisted that she still liked Wanwan and apologized. Then came decision time, despite the fact the polygamy is the ultimate solution for many things (like Nanoha pairings), Naolin knew she had to pick one she just didn't know which one. After a very very very very very very long time that included a forth party trying to weasel in, a gender revelation and Tila Tequila Naolin finally made a choice but what choice was that.... you'll have to stay tuned to find out in moment.

You know, I was kinda wondering why in AU stories Nanoha is always the shy, uncertain girl and Fate is always the aggressive sexual deviant.
Anyway, random drabble I thought up while thinking about what their personalities were like. Actually ended up being more about their motivations, but w/e.
Nanoha training woes.

“Good work today!”
The trainees dragged themselves slowly up the stairs back to base to hit the showers, having just finished morning practice. This group was coming along nicely. I’d only had them for a week, but they were all really shaping up. Another week and I could probably start advanced training. Of course, there was always one problem in every group. Looking up, I saw her lagging behind everyone else, as she had been for the last four days.
Actually, she’d been called a child prodigy by her previous instructors. Thirteen years old and a fully licensed C rank mage, capable of showing up everyone else she’d been trained with. They had expected great things from her (though not as great as my accomplishments, they’d been quick to add). I think those expectations were starting to get to her, though. She looked completely worn out all the time, even after she’d just woken up, and her fatigue had been affecting her performance. Something told me that she was overexerting herself and doing extra training.
“Can I talk to you a moment,” I asked, walking over to her.
“S-Sir…I mean Ma’am!”
“Just Nanoha is fine.”
She must be really tired to not even notice me approaching her. She was looking at me intently, eyes full of worry. It looked like she’d burst into tears at any moment. I didn’t think I was that scary.
“Have a seat; I just want to ask a question.”
We both sat on the stair steps, but she still looked just as anxious as before. Then, before I could even ask anything, she already started to answer.
“…I’m not cut out for this…am I?”
“Huh?”
“I can’t keep up with everyone; I’m not learning this stuff fast enough. I can tell, I’m just dragging everyone down with me. Maybe I should just quit…”
“…is this why you’ve been staying up late to train?”
She suddenly looked sheepish, having obviously thought that I didn’t know.
“You know, overworking yourself can do a lot more harm than you think. Trust me, I know.”
“But, everyone’s expecting me to do so well! If I don’t try my hardest, if I don’t keep pushing myself, I’ll let everyone down!”
“Is that why you became a mage?”
“What?”
“Because it was expected of you? Is that the only reason you’re doing this?”
She looked away from me, staring at her feet.
“Ne, do you know about the Jewel Seed Incident?”
“Of course! It’s almost legendary! You were only nine years old without any magical contact at all, but you still managed to single handedly seal the missing Lost Logia, and defeated the enemy mage who became the TSAB’s youngest enfor…”
She trailed off, suddenly blushing furiously as she realized what she’d started gushing over. It was kinda cute, seeing her so animated like that. It had taken some years, but I’d finally gotten used to being a hero figure for the rookies.
“Did you know that the first time that mage and I met, she beat me?” I said, knowing that the TSAB didn’t have full documentation of events before Lindy and Chrono had arrived.
“Eh?!”
I couldn’t help but laugh softly. Her expression upon hearing that her hero had been beaten was priceless.
“Nyahaha. Yup, she beat me. Several times, and badly, too. But I kept standing up, time and time again, and eventually I was able to beat her. Do you know why?”
She looked weary now, probably thinking I was just trying to tell her not to give, to keep working hard; that I expected great things from her too.
“I didn’t care about being stronger, or being better than her. I didn’t even care about saving the world. I just wanted to face her as an equal, to be able to look her in the eye and understand her sadness, even if it was just for a moment.”
I reached out and put a hand on her shoulder to show my support.
“So, don’t do this for anyone else, ne? Don’t keep pushing yourself for everyone else’s sake. Find your own reason. If you do that, you can be as strong as you have to be.”
She looked up at me and smiled; a genuine smile. It was nice thing to know, that I’d helped her out. Even if it was just a little.
Breaking through the sadness in their hearts and finding the smiles they never knew existed. That is my wings. That is my hope. My name is Takamichi Nanoha.
And Mother!Fate with minor Vivio angst.

Vivio wasn’t a hard girl to read. When she was happy her smile would never break, she’d keep up a constant stream of chatter and she could never sit still. When she was sad she’d cry rivers until me or Nanoha hugged her tightly, and then she’d be happy in an instant again. So, when she climbed into my car after school and sat silently, staring at the floor, I knew something had made her very upset. Stretching over I pulled her towards me, wrapping my arms around her.
When she didn’t return the hug or try to squirm her way out of it I realized that it was something bad.
“Tell Fate-mama what’s wrong, Vivio.”
She pushed herself deeper against me for answering.
“Fate-mama, is Vivio not a real person?”
I stiffened slightly. Was this what she was so upset about, being an artificial mage? Who would have said something like this to her?
“Of course you are, Vivio. You were just born in a different way.”
That didn’t seem to comfort her much. Then again, it didn’t really comfort me either, when I’d heard it.
“If Vivio isn’t real…does that mean Fate-mama and Nanoha-mama’s love is fake?”
This made sense now. I’d remembered thinking the same things once. For me, though, my mother’s love was false. It wasn’t the same for Vivio, it would never be the same. I held her tighter, stroking her hair calmly.
“Vivio, do you know why people are born? It’s to be found.”
“Found?”
“Yes. Everyone has a person that can make them smile, who will hold them close and make them happy, and people are born just so that person can find them. Vivio was born just so Fate-mama and Nanoha-mama could find her.”
She was hugging me back now, and I kept holding her and stroking her hair.
“And you know, Fate-mama and Nanoha-mama are just the same. We were born just to be found by Vivio.
To be strong for the people dear to me, to protect them so they never feel the pain I felt. To stop my past from ever being repeated. This is my future. This is my wish. I am Fate Testarossa Harlaown.
Ooh, very nice. I think you captured their personalities very well. I want some more Vivo angst though.

"SCOOP BIG SCOOP!" They then proceed to thrust a paper into your hands before running away to bother their next victim. You look down and start to read.

Big news everyone! And I'm talking big! Your favorite FF IRC Gossip paper has been given a HUGE scoop! This isn't some small announcement like Ilya's a loli, Hayate turned all the guys into girls, Illidan182 is on some serious crack or no one can decide exactly what TheShinySword is. This is a scoop worthy of our last edition. In fact this is a direct follow up.

I'm interested because it's centered around Shamal. Which is something new. Whats going on! Can't wait to see how this goes.
