This year's 29th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that Osamu Akimoto's Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo ("Kochikame") police comedy manga is getting a new television anime adaptation to celebrate the manga's 40th anniversary. The issue will also publish a key visual for the new anime (the image at right is from a previous anime adaptation).

I'm not really a fan of the manga but the heavily-localized dub episodes in my country gave me a good time when it was airing back then when I had nothing better to watch . Might give this one a shot when it's out.

kochikame indonesia dub gave me bad memory with that forced dub
I remember one episode where they dubbed certain river there as sungai cipulir which left me a huge facepalm.

Well, I don't know about you, but I think the dub and the liberal translation makes it even more ironically hilarious while I don't think the original manga is all that funny. Well, it's certainly not as funny as, say, Sergeant Keroro but that's just me .

I also don't read the original manga but forced Indonesia culture into the manga are way too terrible.
They should pay respect for the mangaka, thanks for the forced dub some fans misheard the actual information within the anime because they put "indonesia elements" which is unnecessary.
I still remember how they dubbed Kochikame as abang, and his friends with indonesian name which very hillarious to remember.

The heavy localization was in fact, request from the Japanese side. Apparently to make the dub feels more authentic and down to earth (story of Policemen in your neighborhood setting). The additional surreal vibe is unintentional.

I was happy when they announced the return of kochikame anime but a bad news was just announced.

It's revealed that the Kochikame the manga will be ending its series this year with volume 200 being the last volume (coming out in September). This series went on for 40 years so it really is a shock. It's a even more serious than the ending of series such as Naruto or Bleach.

There's been rumours that it would be ending in volume 200 or in 2016 (40th year) for some time. But to see it actually happen is...

^ Really? Well, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, It's sad to see it ends because the story can pretty much go forever. On the other hand, I'm glad that I can see the ending of a super-long-running manga like Kochikame before my inevitable death .

For once, hearing that a long-running series is ending makes me sad.

On the bright side, at least I'll get closure.

I already expected it's going to end sooner or later considering Akimnoto's age and volume 200. But still, it's really sad to see a new issue of Jump without Kochikame. Especially considering Akimoto never takes a break.
