Mostly unrelated to the Index novels, but I managed to flip through the pages for Kamachi's latest series, "Intelivillage no Zashiki-warashi" this afternoon. Well, I'd expect no less - looking at the illustrations, the plot is so Kamachi-esque. Just when you expect it to be some sort of a relaxing read, things happen a lot - here and there - and
Spoiler for as I read:
But Spoiler for the end was quite unexpected:

I strongly doubt [Biblia Koshoten no Jikentecho] is a Light Novel on the account that I've only ever seen it being placed beside other Novels in Osaka... Same with [Another] and [Hyouka].
In any case, I didn't think that the subsequent sales for NT3 and 4 would continue to increase by a sizable number even after dropping out of the Oricon rankings. During the month of it's ranking, NT3 sold 198,900 while NT4 sold 166,197.

Teh Ping: Actually, TheGreatEye is doing a better job with the wiki. I'm currently lying low on the contributions because I haven't finished the novels (for shame!). Right now, I'm focusing on the different things that the wiki needs that doesn't involve a high degree of information.

As for NT3 and NT4, I guess there's a reason Kamachi is one of the top selling light novelist this day. The only "pure" light novel who has 2 volume in the top 10 sales is not something to scoff at, especially when he does it almost every year. I wonder how many % of that sales come from people only looking for Misaka moe in it though |

I think one reason for the volume 4 has sold well under the third was because the plot does not give the impression that none of the three protagonists appear, being focused only on new characters (of course also have to Mikoto), but I found it very unfair since I found this volume better than the last and all the senses and even had the wonderful Kihara Kagun and volume still finished in a way highly exciting. And we had a delightful degree of violence promoted by Marian.

Beware Nisio's trolling, from what I heard she barely appears and Kaiki appears there being Kaiki .

Currently plot-wise NT04 IS the best volume among the NT series. Also, 4 Kihara is a big plus, a big one. |

IMHO, the main characters (villains included) never got to shine, the tension between characters (Accel and Railgun) never got developed as it was solved in just one sentence, the dilemma (about Saronia) dragged for too long and it got solved on a quite dull way with Touma on a fist fight, which made pointless the whole investigation about her. The only interesting parts where the begining and the epilogue, ironically those were the parts Birdway was in . Heck, even shippers coughSumeragiCough got trolled when Touma dumped Railgun at the epilogue .

Roberto Katze was a brilliant character, really hope to see you again, I liked the third volume, but had so much that I particularly hoped to see these things and nothing happened, he had good moments, but I consider it a little lower than the other. In addition, I found the magic of Saronia very interesting, but as the first villain of the group that gathered together the three heroes more Mikoto, I must admit I expected more.

I would say it's a combination of everything, NT3 had alot of anticipation because of various reasons like the Three Protagonists teaming up, Mikoto, Birdway, America, An American President that resembles Iskandar... etc.
Now ignoring that NT4 is out only 3 months from NT3 and that could affect sales, people don't really know what to expect from NT4, I know I didn't. In any case, the 50000 difference isn't that absolutely shocking for a series that breaks 200k with every volume. More sales equals more margin for error. Do I think Mikoto is a strong factor? Probably, but to expect anything special out of it is delusional at this point after reading over 20 volumes of this man's style. Personally, I love the militaristic setting of NT3 the resembles a [24] story- I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't like the fast paced action of a spy movie Anime fans =_= I swear... Quote:

But the sheer number of books he put out easily overwhelms the competition and putting him at the top.
